PREGAME: Rd 07 vs Richmond
Love how a lot of people have jumped of Fritsch, up until yesterday the team had collectively done nothing for five weeks. The one week they have a crack coincides with the week he’s dropped, Fritsch actually stepped it up against the Bombers, wasn’t his best game but did more than others. Now some are calling for him to put a consistent block together at Casey. Seems as though getting back into the team will be harder than a batsman trying to break into the Australian line up in the mid 90’s. Is everyone going to judged the same? Give Fritsch the space and delivery that some of our fwds got yesterday and he will tear up it up, he’s hard to match up on is a one v one. Interesting to see how this plays out.

PREGAME: Rd 07 vs Richmond
Last week we had 14 tackles inside fwd 50 and Fritsch laid 5 (can’t remember if all of his were inside fwd 50 but some were) and JVR had 2. So last week they possibly attributed half of them, doesn’t say a lot about the rest of the fwds and that’s when we were still playing ordinary footy. But suddenly we lay 27 tackles on the day when the whole team decides to lift and he can’t get a look in. As good as todays win was any player that makes us better must be considered. Tigers are in the process of rolling the Suns, let’s not get ahead of ourselves.

Fritsch is a gun, the day we decide to move the ball quickly just so happens to coincide with the days he’s in the VFL. If we are now committed to playing this way we need to get him back in asap. Do we honestly think the delivery is going to be that good at Casey.

PREGAME: Rd 07 vs Richmond
Out of interest Collingwood’s last 3 games against Carlton they turned it over 63 times running at 65% efficiency. Swans they turned it over 63 time running at 75% efficiency. Lions they turned it over 46 times running at 78% efficiency. They really hit their straps Friday night and were on a mission. I commented in numerous threads before Thursday night that not all of Collingwood’s players are elite kicks nor are all of their fwd 50 entries champagne footy but if the footy is moved quickly, kept low and delivered into an open fwd line dangerous fwds will more often than not finish it off. Turnovers may be a by product of this style of play but so is scoring. The template is now there for us, we must endeavour to play this way regardless of who’s playing.

KOZZY A DEMON FOR LIFE!!!
No idea what Kosi is currently on but we can’t afford to lose him. Is he really homesick? Anyone willing to renegotiate their contract in order to put a better offer fwd.

POSTGAME: Rd 06 vs Fremantle
We can now move on from the whole team needs to be an elite kick in order to play an attacking brand of footy. We didn’t come out mentally beaten before the game started because of injuries or because we’ve been owned by Freo in recent years.

My Irish Collingwood supporting mate just sent me this. “Nothing wrong with accuracy today mate. Getting plenty of umpires calls today”.

Freo 40+ is paying $3.45- Time to go Goody?
I don’t agree with what you’re saying but I have no issue with it nor with your tone. I’ve actually agreed with a lot of your posts over the years. I wasn’t trying to discredit you just merely pointing out you’ve replied to all of my posts bar 1 or 2. The ones when I questioned your statement that “the players aren’t playing to the gameplan”. Footage was shown during the week of examples of Viney & Oliver constantly ignoring outside running options instead opting for the long bomb down the line. If I’m waiting on the out side for a handball receive and constantly getting ignored I’m thinking to myself why bother. If I’m JVR or Fritsch constantly playing in a congested fwd 50 and being expected to work miracles from a footy that constantly gets bombed in I’m thinking why bother. Best example I can give you is the Bulldogs, JUH is an entitled player not doing the team thing and has been dealt with accordingly by the coach / club. I’m guessing Oliver’s issues didn’t come over night but crept along and were ignored ti some extent by the coach / club until they blew out of proportion, remember the 9 week hamstring. This has a flow on effect to the playing group. Footy starts in the middle of the ground and Oliver & Viney are two of the biggest culprits of not playing to this new gameplan yet remain selected while others get dropped, that is a coaching issue. If Goodwin thinks that Fritsch’s and JVR’S problems are nothing to do with the the quality of entry into the fwd 50 he shouldn’t be coaching today. I’ve got to finish vacuuming the house before the wife gets home or I’ll be shot. Sorry forgot to add although the Dogs have dropped some games look at the way they play considering the personal they’ve had out. No excuses from them at all.- Time to go Goody?
@Macca i know you’ve got a few conversations on the go but you are not replying to some of the comments that show your argument to be flawed. Reminds me of another poster who is never wrong.- Time to go Goody?
What would you do with Oliver, Viney and Sparrow?- Time to go Goody?
Should of dropped Viney and Oliver because they’re not adhering to the gameplan, but a soft coach wouldn’t do that.- Time to go Goody?
They’d be a few coaches in waiting sitting back saying to themselves I could do a lot with this list. There’d be more coaches sitting back saying thar player could add a lot to team going forward he’s being wasted at Melbourne.- Time to go Goody?
They showed footage during the week of players running in numbers to receive the handball only for Oliver and Viney to boot it long down the line, again. Goodwins answer to this is to drop Fritsch and JVR. The coach is the bludging.- Time to go Goody?
Yes and no, it’s human behaviour, everyone responds differently / needs different motivation. My biggest concern is we have a lot of talent on our list and right now other clubs are eyeing our players off, I believe the longer Goodwin stays on the more damage he is doing in terms of quality players looking at leaving come seasons end. I’ve been a supporting this club my whole life and i’m in my 21st year as a Redleg member but if I’m being honest I want us to get flogged today because I want Goodwin gone. I don’t believe he’s capable (I’m not blaming the assistants even though some also aren’t capable) of turning things around, he’s to blame as he is the head coach. Happy to cop flack for this but I’m being honest, we’ve got too much talent to be playing the way we are and copping the losses we have against ordinary opposition. We’ve all seen this play out before only difference is this time we’ve got a lot more to lose in terms of quality players, which will make it harder for us to bounce back.- Time to go Goody?
So the gameplan is the players fault too? I think that’s why some of the players have given up because they’re watching every other club go past and Goodwin refuses to budge. I read earlier (can’t remember which thread) that Goodwin has been trying to implement a new game plan since 2024, that makes it even worse. The little I saw of the Eagles last night they had some really good passages of play moving the footy at pace, running in numbers.- Time to go Goody?
And that’s why we have a head coach but he has enabled certain behaviours to creep into the side ie Oliver. This club is currently like my workplace, highly paid individuals paid well to perform, most of us do but a small minority don’t share the same work ethic, don’t go the extra yard and ride on the back of others hard work. They are dragging jobs out to intentionally gain extra overtime and in some cases rework is required cutting into any profit for that job. My boss argues with me that I’m paying you all well, you’re all experienced so this shouldn’t be happening, I simply replied you knew what these people were like when you hired them, you knew there strengths and weaknesses, these behaviours are not new, they’ve been acting out from day one and you chose to do nothing, eighteen months later you can’t reign them in and you’re acting surprised.- Time to go Goody?
JVR is soft. JVR and Fritsch won’t go near a contest. Anyone else agree with this?- Time to go Goody?
Disagree Macca. Goodwin is the one who is soft, I'm a massive fan of Fritsch and resisted calls for him to be dropped earlier this season citing gameplan and our fwd 50 entries were to blame. Yes he was lazy defensively, but when public challenged he responded and subsequently gets dropped the following week. Why hadn’t Goodwin dropped one of / combination of Viney, Oliver or Sparrow. Does he think that they’re not the problem or can’t bring himself to do it?- Time to go Goody?
So with JVR who is a developing KPF it’s his fault not the lack of coaching and gameplan which gives him little chance to succeed?- Time to go Goody?
Are they? Well Goodwin has the power to drop the players, set the parameters for culture and drive change, he is the head coach. Or has he become too close to some of the players and allowed standards for some to drop? This is in addition to our gameplan, skills etc. - POSTGAME: Rd 06 vs Fremantle
