  1. It might have been mentioned already and apologies if it has, but there are so many threads it’s impossible to keep up at times. An observation on our defensive set up in the 1st and 3rd quarters from Punt Rd goals. It was puzzling to see our backs line up on different ESS forwards in nearly every centre bounce in those quarters. Do we like to rotate our defenders or is the opposition simply regularly throwing a different mix down there to confuse us even further knowing there’s a lot of panic at the moment amongst the back 6? Stringer had 3 different opponents at one stage in the first and that included Fritsch. Oscar and Frost regularly swapped between McKernan and Clarke especially in the first when a lot of damage was done. Ess had Shiel, Smith, Baguley deep at different stages. Fantasia and Tippa were rarely used deep, more so high half forwards and wing so they can damage us on the rebound. We can’t afford to have Hibbo sprint 50 meters back when the ball is kicked over his head to man up the guy out the back or deepest forward. It’s happened numerous times this year and Hibbo is best used as a dasher from half back. His disposal seems to have suffered a bit from 2017, is he maybe spending too many petrol tickets this way? Is the wing a possibility for him? My confusion stems from seeing our backs gather together after we concede a goal for an encouragement knuckle touch or whatever it’s called only to be followed by a lot of head shaking and finger pointing. This is where Lewis is needed. This is purely an observation from ground level fence. Also, looking up at the interchange board, I noticed Jones and Viney were on the bench together a few times. A lot are questioning their leadership, but surely at least keep one of them out there during crucial times.

  3. That McInerney goes alright. Has bobbed up when needed the last two weeks with some strong marking and goals.
  4. 3 preseason premiership fancies on 2 wins between them after 3 rounds.
  5. Closest to pin, how many inside 50s for us on that tiny ground next week?
  6. I haven’t seen Chandler or Bedford play so I can’t possibly make a comment on either. You have obviously seen them play to make that judgement. Hunt was good in my opinion last night, at least he was in some kind of spot. The forward line seemed more open to me in the 2nd when T Mac was off injured. As to your question, Hunt had one goal assist and 10 score involvements, whatever they mean.
  7. Offer Bernie the position full time. I don’t know, try anything.
  8. It was staggering watching him plod 15 metres behind opponents early in the game and even struggling to run to the interchange at times. His injury came at a bad time for him and he’s definitely struggling fitness wise. Too early to maybe make a call on him but someone like Stretch must be scratching his head pondering why he can’t get a run while others seem to be getting a game just to gain match fitness. I’m not the biggest fan of Stretch but surely the bloke could run 120 minutes out and might provide some pressure to opponents even if it’s perceived. Unfortunately, that’s where we are at the moment.
  9. He can be as dumb as dog poo for all I care if he kicks 3 every week. Weren’t you one suggesting for him to play in the forward line?
  10. 6. Brayshaw 5. Harmes 4. Gawn 3. Hunt 2. Oliver 1. Fritsch
  11. Either T Mac is a very selfish footballer or the coaches didn’t have the gonads to bench him in the last quarter. He could hardly run in front of us and was limping at stages chasing defenders out. Once he went forward again the long bombs began. Lockhart, Trac amd Hunt looked dangerous in the second when they had room to move.
  12. All of a sudden we became unpredictable and dangerous up forward due to T Mac going off. Once TMac came back on he’s been lining up on the wing. That’s how it looked like from ground level anyway. Keep going please.

  14. Like us last week, the Crows dominating the early part of third for bugger all reward.
  15. Personally, I find it hard to believe Goody at the very least hasn’t reviewed the tape of the Prelim.
  16. It will be interesting to see what they do if Jeffy is available this weekend. Mr Guthrie thinks he’s some chance but more likely returning through VFL.
  17. Since you’re bringing up Garlett, Ben Guthrie tweeting Jeffy is close to playing. Joined full training this morning after some testing of the shoulder.
  18. Rolled the Wheel Of Changes, too many bankrupt wedges though. In : Preuss, J Wagner Out : May, Sparrow
  19. Made waking up at 4am, walking into walls and feeding bubs all the better after seeing Frankfurt drill a 3rd goal in. Good job team, kind of eases the misery of the weekend.
  20. JH was actually one of their best yesterday alternating between forward and midfield. Almost half of his 21 disposals came in the defensive half. His general field kicking is well above average and it was evident yesterday. I thought we could cover his goals from last season, his link up play and ability to cover the ground might be a bigger loss than some thought.

  22. Still shaking head at the end margin. I witnessed a lot of effort from most on the night. I look at efforts like Melksham’s in the third and wonder why. The Cats were rebounding broadcast side halfback/wing in the third, our defenders all push to that side to block options leaving Parfitt alone on the outer wing and pushing in behind our defence for an easy out the back option. The Milkshake spots this and sprints 100 meters from our forward 50 to man him up. How can you knock that? The game was alive I thought 10 minutes into the third when 20 points down and playing the game on our terms. Couldn’t buy a goal when it mattered and you could sense once they went forward they would score. I lost count as to how many Geelong goals came within 25m of goal. Big problem but can be fixed hopefully. Also, we’ve allowed goals in our defensive 50 from stoppages too easily so far. Hope the coaches work overtime this week and rectify these issues quickly. All it takes is one ugly win to get back on track, please let it be Friday night.
  23. Do that GIF thing you do and look who set up our first goal last night.
  24. Bravo Luci, we watched him closely last night as we had a decent view from the ground. He tried his guts out last night, Trac was outnumbered numerous times and still we kicked to him. The guy never gave in even when the oppo were jabbing and shoving him behind the play. Geelong realised early Trac was a threat and reacted accordingly by throwing an extra or two around him. A spell at Casey? Please, give us a spell.
  25. Yep they’ve started already. Long way home they are telling us.
