I'm sorry, but I don't buy this idea that Jurrah can't adapt to the new "systems and changes". Yes there are changes, but at the end of the day it is still football and Jurrah is one of the most talented and skilled players in the AFL. Also, the fact that he has come from desert football and starred in the AFL highlights his ability to adapt to new styles of football. Every time the ball went to ground in the forward line last night I was thinking just how badly we needed someone of Jurrah's class around goals.

Casey Scorpions v Box Hill Hawks
Straight Sets Simon replied to KC from Casey's topic in Melbourne Demons
That's terrible news if true. Poor guy can't take a trick. -
I wish we had a Howe for each part of the ground.

I don't think people should be trying to speculate on the outcome or evidence of the trial.

Would you expect anything else from the Herald Sun?

The Herald Sun are already beginning their trial by media campaign: http://www.heraldsun.com.au/news/more-news/melbourne-footballer-liam-jurrah-warned-to-never-return/story-fn7x8me2-1226295469875

Do you think Grimes should have had his pay docked when he went to Queensland last year?

The criticism from Carey, Malthouse and Wallace was that Watts needs to show more urgency. No one can deny they are right about this. EDIT: Brain fade.

As mentioned earlier in the thread, Grimes went to Queensland late last year while injured, should he have not been paid then too?
-
I think that's well summed up. I agree Davey has an "elite" kick (I would say top 10 in the AFL), but he is not an "elite" player in the competition.
-
My point is, people are using the word "elite" when they are simply referring to a good player, I am saying that I would only reserve the word for the absolute very best in the competition.
-
That's open to interpretation, but I define an "elite" player as who I think is in the top 1%.
-
Easily the most overused word by people in the media and the punters on forums like this, so what do people define as being "elite"? Personally, as a rule of thumb I think of it as being in the top 1%. There are roughly 800 players in the AFL so I would consider being in the top eight or so players as "elite".

I have only caught the last 10 minutes or so of the game, will watch replay later but it just looked as though they were in a constant state of panic. No cool heads to just get the ball, stop, look then make a decision, Martin and Macdonald being the main offenders.

Some players are just unlucky. I remember people saying how injury prone Moloney was a few years ago even though all his injuries were unrelated to each other. Nathan Jones has missed around four games since being drafted. He broke his back, the difference was he did it in the last game of the year, some are just luckier than others.
-
He is still bitter that Daniher got the sack.
-
That's a massive confession that the four years under Bailey were almost a complete waste. The fact that after four years of "rebuilding" we still can't look at win/loss ratios is a big worry.

That is one of the best summaries I have seen on here in a long time. There is no "player bashing", just fair and reasonable assessments.
