Melbourne v Brisbane - Pre-Match Discussion
Straight Sets Simon replied to Demonland's topic in Melbourne Demons
Really? Match ups aside, one has played a lot footy, the other hasn't. I think Sellar is a good pick up for what the team needs, but he has been overrated by many here so far. -
The speed of the song is exactly the same, has not been sped up at all.
-
What edit? Sounds the same to me.

Sylvia?

Sam Reid can't buy a free kick. The ground is awful, sand flying everywhere.

Nev Jetta - long term injury list
Straight Sets Simon replied to The Lobster Effect's topic in Melbourne Demons
I would hope if he doesn't get another contract, at the very least we offer him a Rookie spot. If a player of his ability and age was running around in the VFL we would jump at the chance to put him on the Rookie list. -
Jimmy's Legacy - will we take up the challenge?
Straight Sets Simon replied to hardtack's topic in Melbourne Demons
I'm just saying it's a mantra the club has already taken on board, and I agree it's a good one. -
Jimmy's Legacy - will we take up the challenge?
Straight Sets Simon replied to hardtack's topic in Melbourne Demons
For the past couple of years the players have run out of their rooms with a "Whatever it Takes" sign above them. -
Melbourne and the Football World mourn Jimmy Stynes
Straight Sets Simon replied to hardtack's topic in Melbourne Demons
Without Jim, we probably wouldn't have a football club to watch and talk about any more. What a hero, what a legend. Thoughts are with his family and friends. RIP -
Sylvia out for four to six weeks

Good analysis pantaloons. The interesting thing with Geelong (as mentioned by Hells Gates) was that they were playing finals well before the flag in 2007. Yes, 2006 was a bit of a dud year for them but from memory going into the year they were one of the flag favourites. -

He was a Rookie, cost little to get him. Not saying he was a good player but it is in relation to what we spent to get him. -

Interview with Martin He has spoken to 12 clubs, and not Melbourne, which doesn't surprise him. -

Yes, hindsight is wonderful and makes drafting look easy a few years on (which it isn't). The point is, I would be happier if we did interview Martin and still didn't take him, at least we know he was more seriously considered then. -

I think some of his later picks have been excellent (Bail, Jurrah and Howe in particular). My only concern was that he didn't even interview Dustin Martin. I know Scully and Trengove were stand outs, but that was a concern for me. From memory Craig Cameron did the 2007 draft. -

After each draft, the call usually is "come back in a few years and I will tell you how well we have drafted." Well here is your chance. 2007 Cale Morton Jack Grimes Addam Maric Kyle Cheney Tom McNamara Stefan Martin Trent Zomer ® Austin Wonaeamirri ® Jake Spencer ® Shane Valenti ® 2008 Jack Watts Sam Blease James Strauss Jamie Bennell Neville Jetta Rohan Bail Liam Jurrah Jordie McKenzie ® Rhys Healey ® Daniel Hughes ® 2009 Tom Scully Jack Trengove Jordan Gysberts Luke Tapscott Max Gawn Jack Fitzpatrick Joel Macdonald

I find this odd seeing as Neeld was Malthouse's right hand man.

Because most barely struggle to pay for their players as there is no salary cap. No major leagues in the US (excluding soccer) have sponsors on the uniforms. I'm not for or against but US sports is the biggest.

Just as a hypothetical, if Watts doesn't progress this year, what are the chances that he packs it in and goes and plays basketball?

I've heard a few people say that, I just think it's the way he talks.

The only people who don't like Francis Leach are those who cannot comprehend different points of view and intelligent discussion. The same goes for Gerard Whateley. He was a rare voice of reason amongst a sea of peanuts calling up asking "how do you think Collingwood / RIchmond / Essendon /North Melbourne will go this year?".
