WELCOME TO THE MELBOURNE FOOTBALL CLUB - CHARLIE SPARGO
This is called putting your balls on the line. Sincerely hope you are wrong L36, but kudos nonetheless. I once played footy against a bloke called Shane Naylor, who went on to be Australian 100m champion. Caught and brought him to the ground, then wondered what on earth the fuss was about. So glad I didn't predict he would be a slug.

WELCOME TO THE MELBOURNE FOOTBALL CLUB - CHARLIE SPARGO
Respect or reverence paid or rendered: In his speech he paid homage to Washington and Jefferson Do you mean "umbrage"? offence or annoyance. "she took umbrage at his remarks"

WELCOME TO THE MELBOURNE FOOTBALL CLUB - CHARLIE SPARGO
At his height, if you are not a competitor, you are unlikely to be playing in the comp. I recall reading the same thing about Sylvia before he was drafted. "competitive beast" was the claim. Nope. Hi Spargo's. You are now Red & Blue, and part of our family. Enjoy the ride, and tell your boy to unleash everything he has.

WELCOME TO THE MELBOURNE FOOTBALL CLUB - OSKAR BAKER
I first thought that Brisbane would have all of the inside knowledge of this kid, and that picking him would be a stretch, but then I remembered Brisbanes recent drafting record. Absolutely love the highlights vid. His run is incredible, as is his kicking at speed. A rarity. On his highlights, I say not half back, but wing for mine, as it didn't show any defensive work. Welcome to the Dees Oskar, and the Baker family. Hope you can become immersed in the oldest club in the land. Please keep your son off Demonland if he is not considered starting 18 in round 1. It gets a bit ugly on here.

Jack Trengove signed by Port Adelaide as a Delisted Free Agent
We couldn't even roll 1/2 a Collingwood side in the last round, with finals on the line. Get real SWYL

Jack Trengove signed by Port Adelaide as a Delisted Free Agent
The slow players you are probably referring to would have been successful because they had elite traits that helped them to overcome the lack of pace. Elite hands, decision making, awareness, game sense. Jack is elite at none of those and in the end was possibly the slowest mover I have ever seen for someone of his size. I am stunned that Port have wasted a pick on Jack. Great news for him of course, but one their supporters won't be at all happy with.

How stupid are Port Trengove might be a great guy but his body is shot. He owes his manager a top shelf whisky for putting one over on the Port list manager.

Welcome to Demonland: Jake Lever
Colonwood has marquee games busting out of its blurter. We have two. Two big annual games, and we rotate the gate at one of them. I would say a polite but firm NO if able. Actually, it wouldn't be polite. While we are the mugs who scratch in the Kitty Litter every year, and are forced to play in the N.T while Colonwood gets 16 games in the centre of Melbourne even if they are down in the cellar, you don't give them a millimetre. F.O Colonwood

Welcome to Demonland: Jake Lever
NEVER trust Colonwood. Surely past history has taught us that. Yeah, the Pies graciously offer to play us in the first round, then twice a year. Wow, wonderful. Then, they make the request that if they play us twice, that we should share the massive gate of Queens Birthday with them year on year. Then, having obtained that, they drop the gracious request to play us twice, but demand to keep rotating the Queens birthday clash. No. No way No way, F*&k off you prciks.

Welcome to Demonland: Jake Lever
I'm on your side Eth, but I do ask myself how I would feel if our wheels fell off next year, and it turns out to be pick 8 It would be very Melbourne for that to happen. I think it is an indication that our coaching group thinks we are about to hit the big time. That alone is worth at least some excitement. Jared Rivers was made for todays zoning game. I think we just traded for a modern upgrade with solid kicking skills.

Welcome to Demonland: Jake Lever
Some people are never happy. We paid a fair price for a supposed top tier talent, and left ourselves with good relations, which may very well benefit us at a later date. The picks are gone now, but we have Jake Lever at our club. Just set your alarm so you only turn your TV on at the second round of the draft. Maybe you could while away the time watching Levers highlights package. Actually, have a look at the player ratings from the Grand Final, taken from the AFL site. Then try to crack a smile

Welcome to Demonland: Jake Lever
I was hoping it was bs, as we have lots of young talent who will be looking for a pay rise in the next few years. We are certainly in "go for broke" mode now. Load up on top tier talent, and have a crack at a flag. Spend every salary cap dollar we have to land people such as Sloane. Now or never.
-
Welcome to Demonland: Jake Lever
If the word in other threads is true, and we are stretched salary cap wise, then you can forget about going after a Sloane, who would be worth huge coin, unless we had high profile departures.

Welcome to Demonland: Jake Lever
This is NOT a mediocre trade. We just picked up a bloke who is the most highly regarded tall defender in the league. It allows T.Mac to play forward all year in the absence of the departing Watts. Crows wanted 2 x 1st rd picks We gave up 2 x first rd plus 4th rd We gained Lever, 2nd rd, and 3rd rd It's not at all a terrible trade. In fact, I love it. Open your eyes everyone. We did ok here. Get on the Crows supporter site. I will bet some of them are whining that they gave us back far too much. That's a good indication of a fair deal.
-
Welcome to Demonland: Jake Lever
Just incredible that people can still find something to moan about when we land the most highly rated young defender in the game. You guys will forget all about draft numbers, when we are playing finals. And remember, players families read these threads. Show a bit of excitement for the guy. This is bloody wonderful news. (Oh, and Jake, watch out for the bearded guy on a scooter)

Welcome to Demonland: Jake Lever
We must have some other stuff in the wings for this to be completed so fast. Welcome Jake, great to have you on board.

Welcome to Demonland: Jake Lever
Hmmm, can you imagine how stupid the Crows would look if the Tigs agreed to swap their 2 x late 1st picks for pick 10, and we kept our second round pick? Why wouldnt they have their own meeting with the tigers, swap 10, and keep our pick 27 to themselves? Strange.

Wonder what 20 & 27 would get us? Interesting. Thanks evil.

Welcome to Demonland: Jake Lever
Cannot believe anyone actually thinks that clubs do not negotiate outside of the trade window. Staggering.

Welcome to Demonland: Jake Lever
Says to me it's a sideshow to placate the moronic masses of their supporter base.

Welcome to Demonland: Jake Lever
Wasn't it 12, and we sent that to Geelong for Moloney?

Welcome to Demonland: Jake Lever
If it's the 750k rumoured, our young blokes need to suck it up, and play their asses off to justify the comparison at their next contract. If we are losing games for a finals spot against a garbage side decimated by injury, we clearly do not have lots of players worth more than 750k in it. I'm excited by the potential of many of our youngsters, but it remains Potential, not realised. Only the loss of Oliver would make me weep, as I believe he is a generational talent. Everyone knows you pay more for external talent when you are at our level. Everyone. Our footy department has decided we are entering a premiership window, and as such we can put the medium term on hold, and trade away the early picks. If that doesn't excite the playing list, they are playing for the wrong reasons. Goodwin thinks he can coach us to a flag with the addition of Lever, and other targeted talent. I'm bloody excited about that, and the playing list should be too.

Welcome to Demonland: Jake Lever
And I have no doubt at all that is the case. It's always a huge concern about out of joint noses when attracting new talent. But it flies in the face of what Lewis was saying, and that's my point.
-
Welcome to Demonland: Jake Lever
Thats not the point at all. Lewis tells players to accept LESS, in order to attract outside players who will be best 22 Then you suggest players will be ANGRY, if said new best 22 player takes the money Lewis has been telling them to sacrifice. makes Zero sense at all. We have no defender who is better than Lever at what he does. None. So why the concern?
