WELCOME TO THE MELBOURNE FOOTBALL CLUB - STEVEN MAY

I can't for the life of me understand why anyone would not be excited if he came our way. With Lever able to give additional cover when Oscar is on a bigger bodied forward, May can take the strongest/fastest each week. I imagine he would complete the Pies backline also. Lets hope we dont get into a bidding war with them.

wow 70,000 is a huge improvement on where we are now. Only a flag gives us a chance to see those numbers. Fingers crossed.

I, along with many others regularly have a laugh at Norf, but I must admit that I have a good deal of respect for them. They NEVER tank. Even with a list low on talent, they do their absolute best to win every game they play, and always look to avoid the spoon at all costs. They are looking at bringing in 3 players who, if recruited, will add significant, immediate value to their side. Their strength for quite a while has been their big bodied midfield, and the thing holding them back was a high quality outside group. North may improve significantly if they add all 3 players. And well done to them if thats the case. My issue is they are taking a slightly delusional look into the near future. (no disrespect intended Roos fans) Their heavy hitters, apart from a very good full forward in SideShow Bob, are their older group, at or above 30yrs old. While all 3 players are quite good, it would deplete their salary cap, and leave them a VERY short window to achieve the ultimate before their warriors retire. Will watch them with interest if they get all of their targets.

Not as dissapointed as usual that I turned off the ignore function to read this post. I actually agree with almost every word of it.

Tell him that to his face. Isn't that how it goes with you Saty? Once on our list you will be fawning all over him. I want a flag, and May provides a better way to get there.

		Farewell Jesse Hogan

Thank god our footy department are a little more pragmatic than our supporters. We are in top-up mode trying to win a flag. The club has determined what we need to give ourselves the best chance, and appears to be going for it. A top 10 pick for May would not faze me in the slightest.

It's Colonwood v Boo Factory. Already a lose/lose proposition. Will all be forgotten if we turn the Hogan compo into the missing pieces of a Premiership puzzle.

Seems to add more weight to the "Gaff is not coming" talk. Like his run, height, and that sweet left foot....... Has quality wingman written all over him. Isn't that what everyone has been sreaming for? Players such as Jones would be looking over their shoulder if this bloke comes across fit and ready to go. Jones was a stopgap wingman at times. It's not his go.

The commentators are generally dumb, thats a given, but the players may have simply had different interpretations of the pronunciation. I've seen some beauties over the years.

Love the idea of more animals in the side. Been through the bad years of seeing our kids get bashed around every week. Preuss would add an agressive dimension deep forward and also around the ground. I like the idea.

Gaff as well would get the Norf supporters quite excited. They dont like to bottom out at Norf, do they?
-

Who are our bottom six? And where do they rate?

Interesting discussion. Our list is certainly stronger across the board than it was during our last finals campaign. I've always thought that your bottom 6 can play a big part in winning, but STARS can win games almost by themselves, and we have a couple of players now that could be considered stars. But.... Stars are also made in finals, and with a strong finals campaign, it may come to light that we actually have more stars than people realised. I'm not expecting a flag tilt this year, although its one of the worst top 8's I can recall, so anything is possible. But next year, all things equal, look out comp.

Time to show Oscar some respect!

Interesting thought. hadn't considered that. I rate Oscar. Have done for a while. MUCH better foot skills than big brother at this stage of his career, and is very reliable for such a young KPD Reads the play well, and is starting to zone off at the right times, to take the intercept marks. Has a footy brain. Ok, gets mauled occasionally by the giants, but with the way the game appears to be going, 1 position gorillas may soon be a thing of the past. With Frost showing signs of improvement, it bodes well for a flag attempt in the next few years.

How do you figure that? I would think our 2nd rd would be in play, as several clubs would be interested. Would be nice to add a huge bodied, aggressive player to the list.

This is a line that should be conveyed to Gaff at every opportunity. You can near on bet that it will happen at some stage.

Agree with this. It's been nice to see the seemingly sudden development of Sam Weidemann, with his ability to give Gawn a rest, but surely we should be looking for a capable backup for a long term Gawn injury. Its been proven how important he is to us, and we would certainly find it much much harder to be a flag winner without a full time ruckman in the middle. We are about to challenge for a Premiership, so a mature ruck backup is needed now.

WELCOME TO THE MELBOURNE FOOTBALL CLUB - CLAYTON OLIVER

Oliver will be offered $1.5m p.a by another team (most likely Norf) before his contract is up. He is the superstar that 18 teams are looking for.

		Sam Weideman

Disagree Oscar has shown MUCH better kicking ability than big brother did in his first several years in defence, to the point where he can be relied on most times to find a target, and gets to plenty of contests. For his age and size, he is progressing very nicely. Just needs a heap more strength, and we will have a first class tall defender.
