WELCOME TO THE MELBOURNE FOOTBALL CLUB - STEVEN MAY
faultydet replied to DemonLad5's topic in Melbourne Demons
Would not be at all surprised if Frost forms part of the trade for May/KK -
I'm not that confident that we will hold off and push it to the brink for those 2 early picks. I just cant see us getting 4 & 5 4 and a pick after 10 maybe is what I see us accepting, and if it goes to the final couple of trading hours, we may take pick 4 on its own. I have a hunch that our guys view Jesse (leaving) now as the key to a serious flag hit next year. I reckon we REALLY badly want May, and cant take the chance of Colonwood swooping. I hope you are right, as @Redleg trade scenario would be an absolute dream come true. But if it appears too good to be true, it usually is.

Sorry, I actually mean he goes into the draft. I expect Freo to be near the bottom again. Then we take what Freo offers, or lose him for nothing. Very very unlikely but possible. We should be doing something now if we think losing him can give us the Flag pieces that we need. He gives us the currency we need.

Not sure I trust this bloke with our trading.......
-
5) We try to bluff Freo with demanding 2 x early first rd picks, only to realise that Hogan will leave for a pick around 18 next year, so we bite the bullet, trade him for something less than 4/5, and play in a Grand Final with Steven May at full back. The idea of Hogan for May stinks to high heaven, but with the hand we have, it will only take Hogan to really warm to Freo, and we will be forced to take the single early pick. As much as I hate the idea, if it gets done, we are 1 large step closer to a flag. Heres hoping we get more than pick 4, as we should.

I am not ethically challenged by a single legal thing that brings us a flag. Zero.

How anyone could be advocating for an 86kg 200cm plus stick insect defies belief. We have just entered our first Premiership window for almost 20yrs. If we add just a few more adult bodies with the required skill into the team, we may just be able to end our 5 decade plus flag famine. Load up, win as many flags as we can, then we can all sit back and watch the rebuild again, finally knowing what its like to drink from that cup.

I can't for the life of me understand why anyone would not be excited if he came our way. With Lever able to give additional cover when Oscar is on a bigger bodied forward, May can take the strongest/fastest each week. I imagine he would complete the Pies backline also. Lets hope we dont get into a bidding war with them. -
Big thanks to the Mods for the selfless work, and the nerds who keep the whole thing running. Oh, and the dude who owns the site. Legend.

wow 70,000 is a huge improvement on where we are now. Only a flag gives us a chance to see those numbers. Fingers crossed.

Jesus mate, we havent won flag since '64. Not sure we are in a position to brag.

I, along with many others regularly have a laugh at Norf, but I must admit that I have a good deal of respect for them. They NEVER tank. Even with a list low on talent, they do their absolute best to win every game they play, and always look to avoid the spoon at all costs. They are looking at bringing in 3 players who, if recruited, will add significant, immediate value to their side. Their strength for quite a while has been their big bodied midfield, and the thing holding them back was a high quality outside group. North may improve significantly if they add all 3 players. And well done to them if thats the case. My issue is they are taking a slightly delusional look into the near future. (no disrespect intended Roos fans) Their heavy hitters, apart from a very good full forward in SideShow Bob, are their older group, at or above 30yrs old. While all 3 players are quite good, it would deplete their salary cap, and leave them a VERY short window to achieve the ultimate before their warriors retire. Will watch them with interest if they get all of their targets.

Not as dissapointed as usual that I turned off the ignore function to read this post. I actually agree with almost every word of it. -

Tell him that to his face. Isn't that how it goes with you Saty? Once on our list you will be fawning all over him. I want a flag, and May provides a better way to get there. -
Thank god our footy department are a little more pragmatic than our supporters. We are in top-up mode trying to win a flag. The club has determined what we need to give ourselves the best chance, and appears to be going for it. A top 10 pick for May would not faze me in the slightest.

It's Colonwood v Boo Factory. Already a lose/lose proposition. Will all be forgotten if we turn the Hogan compo into the missing pieces of a Premiership puzzle.

Seems to add more weight to the "Gaff is not coming" talk. Like his run, height, and that sweet left foot....... Has quality wingman written all over him. Isn't that what everyone has been sreaming for? Players such as Jones would be looking over their shoulder if this bloke comes across fit and ready to go. Jones was a stopgap wingman at times. It's not his go. -
Winning the Trade & Free Agency Period?
faultydet replied to Whispering_Jack's topic in Melbourne Demons
Winning the trade period is not so important now, as winning the flag. I'm happy to load up by whatever means possible at whatever cost the footy department decide, if it means holding up the cup. Surprised by Rockliff though. Was sure he would be a great pickup for the Power. -

Aaron vandenBerg not going - signs a new deal!!!
faultydet replied to Tony Tea's topic in Melbourne Demons
Would have thought he would not be looking eleswhere after the way we have nursed him back to playing, and rushed him into the firsts. Playing finals should be an attraction, not a repellant. -
Hi all I'm here looking for likes for a post with zero content. Thanks.

The commentators are generally dumb, thats a given, but the players may have simply had different interpretations of the pronunciation. I've seen some beauties over the years. -
