  1. That's logical given the Sainters move from Moorabbin to Frankston. St Kilda aligning itself with Sandy makes some geographical sense too.
  2. We've had a great alliance with Sandringham, in that it's proven very successful on field of the Zebras. The question is, if we set up a summer training base at Casey Fields (home of the Casey Scorpions VFL side (who are affiliated with St Kilda)) will this affect our alliance with Sandy? If we're based at Casey, and looking to make a push into the region, it makes obvious sense to align ourselves with their VFL side. Actually it's kind of integral. Have the club given any indication as to how this might pan out? Are Casey bound to St Kilda? And how do our Sandy fans feel about it all?
  3. You're telling me without Bailey we'd have 40,000 paid up members? Mate you're killing me! FWIW I support the Melbourne Football Club, not some interstate mob wearing our jumper.
  4. Untapped markets, new supporters... nah, we don't need them! I'm sorry to say it mate, but if football is the most important thing in your life, then I'm afraid you need to get some perspective. The Demonland members are at the more passionate end of the Melbourne supporter base, but honestly, let's remember that this is a game played for enjoyment of the participants and supporters alike. I bloody savor Melbourne's success, and I crave a that ultimate glory as much as anyone whose sat rain soaked in the outer at the MCG on a cold day in June. But life or death!? Passion, yes! But perspective, please! You're asking for a president who simply has the best of intentions. Call me easy to please, but I'd be happy with business nous, corporate contacts, and something of a public profile. In ten lines you mention the Demons logo three times. Right, I get it, you liked it. But let me tell you, the absence of the Demons logo is so far from the least of our issues, it's not even funny. And if you think the return of the demon face would lift our players to the heights of the 50's team, you're dreaming. Furthermore, if you think that Gardner doesn't bleed for this club or that he's somewhat happy with our flower-like performances, well, then I'm speechless. Remember being the president is an unpaid position. You suggest Gardner isn't passionate, you imply that you are. Well then I ask, how many hours have you donated to the club you love in the past five years? More or less than Paul??
  5. We miss men who played on pure guts. Men in the trenches who would fly the bloody flag week in week out! Men like Jim Stynes and Todd Viney. We miss our natural leaders, who the others stood tall around. Leaders who united their troops, and inspired them to reach great heights. Leaders like Gary Lyon and Robbie Flower. We miss the class of Yze, Ox and TJ at their best. The crowd pullers, like 'The Wiz', Robbo in full flight or Allen Jakovich. And where's the mongrel? Willo, 'Balls' Grinter, Pickett...
  6. Dees told 'face up to the crisis' THE AFL has delivered a stunning broadside to the Melbourne Football Club, informing the Demons' board that its brand was meaningless and that it virtually stood for nothing in 2008, the club's 150th season...
  7. If you'll indulge me RD, I want you to tell us how we could set up differently in the square or tactically counter this situation. Should be basic - your words not mine. Once you've done that, I'll tell you how it's far from foolproof. FWIW, North allowed Davey to do the same late in the first, it's just a shame Aaron couldn't convert on the run.
  8. Tactically speaking, what's the problem with it? This very ploy earned us our first goal of the game. Neita contested the ruck, Jamar came over the top and effectively palmed to Davey. He centered the ball to Dunn, and we got our only goal in the first term. Good coaching, good execution.
  9. Carroll - 191cm, Hawkins - 197cm... but I see your point. Holland if fit is a handy inclusion, particularly against the Kangas. Gives Chopper and Riv better match-ups, further frees up Miller to stay forward, and if required to go forward himself, couldn't do worse than Robbo or the skipper.
  10. Of the mob who re-negotiated in the off season, who would have signed on for just the one year? Neita? Holland? Warnock? How many years did Robbo get? Garland and Weetra come out of contract at seasons end. Hard to see Yze getting offered a new contract. You'd expect White will probably get another year, depending on how PJ, Meesen and Jamar come on.

  12. Good move given the weather...

  14. Nasher are you in yet or do I have to send you an invitation?
  15. [censored], right, my bad. PM me and I'll send invites.
  16. Private League, so PM me your email address and I'll send an invitation to join. Get on board... DEMONLAND LEAGUE CODE: 923173
  17. Just on that point. I thought our professionalism and 'team' ethic were first rate today. Saintsational have some good individual players, very good actually, but judging them on the standard we set, too rarely did their mob play as a unit, put in the one percenters and support their team mates. We executed these objectives to perfection and that was the difference between victory, and, a bloody resounding 100 point victory! Thanks must go to Whispering & Redleg for this.
  18. Great win today boys. You really did us, and yourselves proud. EVERYONE stood up, had a dip, followed the game plan and contributed to a well earned win. I'll post more soon, but for now here are a couple of snaps. Pre-match Team photo & Me (left) with B.O.G Billy (right) holding 'Big Carl'. By the way, i thought it fitting that the guy who was best on ground wore a white headband!
  19. It hasn't Rollo. I can't even run on it, let alone think about changing directions. But I'll strap it up and give myself a last minute fitness test before kick off... with a little luck I'll be good for a cameo in the forward pocket. Leaving Healesville now, see you all down there.
  20. Final line-up... 21. My ankle hasn't come up well today, but fingers crossed it'll be right to go on Sunday. I might have to play deep in the forward line to limit the mileage. Blessed_Hands can ruck till Cribbes arrives, then they can rotate for the remainder of the match. We're a couple of talls down now, but with a dozen available on the bench we might wait till we see who shows up on Sunday before finalising the line up. Team as of Friday 15th Feb FB: Oxxx | ?? | cameron-the-bruce HB: mickrocks | doggo24 | the stynes factor C: pringle | wise monkey | freak HF: Rivvo | ?? | scotty FF: Hards | Cactus | MelbourneFC FOL: Blessed_Hands | ?? | Imtoohot INT: Fuzz, david, wrecker_whelan, jezzzza, hatchman, Scragg, mclean4brownlow, filth, stinga, ucanchoose, coxy, snake, Travis 1/4 time arrival: Cribbes (Ruck), Woody, Animal (Full Back)
  22. Speaking of netball, I played at Melbourne High tonight and landed badly on my ankle. I've had it on ice all night, but the way it feels at the moment I'm touch and go to be right for Sunday. Irrespective of whether it comes up, I'll be at the game. Rollo, worst case scenario is you'll get that goal umpire we need. If we have enough on the bench, we might rotate the boundry umpire role among the benchees. It'll keep us warm when not on the field.
  23. I've made adjustments to the line-up based on Rollo's player profiles. We've got a particularly strong team this time around, and healthy competition for spots. This will change come game day, as players often don't show, and unproven players will get plenty of opportunity to shine. Team as of 5 Feb 07 FB: Oxxx | Animal | cameron-the-bruce HB: mickrocks | doggo24 | the stynes factor C: Axis Of Bob | wise monkey | freak HF: Rivvo | Madness | scotty FF: Hards | Cactus | MelbourneFC FOL: Cribbes | Blessed_Hands | Imtoohot INT: Fuzz, david, wrecker_whelan, jezzzza, hatchman, pringle, Animal, Woody, Scragg, mclean4brownlow, filth, stinga, ucanchoose, coxy, Occo, snake, Travis mclean4brownlow - we'll get you in defence if you can make it down to play.
  24. Blessed_Hands is a confirmed starter. We need to find some room for him and Imtoohot in the midfield. These two boys have the biggest engines of anyone in our team.
