Is the board not backing the coach inspiring unity? We are a mess, David's just calling it how he sees it & has actually bled for the red & blue for real.
-
He was right about scully, I would take the what the Ox says much more seriously than Garry Lyon!!!
-
At least he would make a decision, you think the board putting the coach on notice is any less 'noise' for the players?!? You idiot!! You think there isn't this talk and more already internally? The players have known for weeks the coach isn't being supported and is a lame duck!!!
-
@ The Master (named yourself after one of our very unfulfilled 1st round draft picks I see... Celebrate in the failures hey? Funny how Bates nickname had nothing to do with football & everything to do with playing with ones self) Oh, yes, a nice little president handover when Mclardy 'feels' its time, would you like to do that over tea & scones? I give up, our supporters are a bunch of weaklings also. Bag Ox for his timing hey, or don't like how he puts it, never mind that he is 100% right, f**k the semantics!!! Lol By the way, this club would've folded already if it wasn't for jimmy pulling on OUR heart strings!! The turnaround was not because of schwab, not because of our board, not because of our on field performance, we got back to an even keel thanks to the supporters who got behind jimmy and debt demolition!!! Since then our board has screwed us again financially and this boys club including outside advisors like Garry Lyon who had a hand in both the last 2 coach hiring need to [censored] off for good.
-
Ox has been down at the club all season banging on the door saying what can I do to help. He bled for our club like no one on our list currently, and would do so again!! Our board is garbage!!! And he is right, internally everyone is saying this is not a footy club, the place has no vibe, no nothing right now. The fish rots from the head!!! I HATE THIS BOARD & IT MUST GO!!!!! Back Neeld or sack him you bunch of whimps!! Where does this current weak stance put the players in terms of respect & commitment?!? What other f**king president/board would accept a $500k fine for being found not guilty? Why the hell would they turn to Garry Lyon for advice again on the new coach after bailey?!? And now Garry, after sticking the boots in bailey, is doing it again with neeld!!!!
-
And Watson has shown he knows what about successful coaching exactly? He is a romantic fool too, same school as Daniher himself, these Essendon boys stick together no matter where they are. Plus he's paid a living to talk BS that gets people like us talking....
-
Daniher left us screwed list wise, he kept backing blokes that ultimately weren't up to it & his development of youngsters after 2000 & our list was pathetic. He had energy & positiveness, he got fans & 'some' of 'his' boys fired up, but he never made game day changes, we were a very offensive one way team (that's where our down hill skiing culture came from that bailey & beamer were tapping into) and he created the no Neitz, no demons forward line structure. Or how about backing Jeff Whites wishes to be sole ruckman? Ha!! Yea, lets let the inmates run the asylum, like that has ever worked to win a flag before?!?! It ruined Jeff's body and ruined out ruck stocks!!! He was an old school coach from a bygone era then, imagine now!! I would strongly pass on him as coach, the Rev was passionate and he appears to have kicked on as a good administrator, so maybe he can help in that department. He hasn't been anywhere near a coaches box for what, 7 years now? No one hired the then president of the coaches association to coach ever again, not even as an assistant! He was elected presiden cause everyone likes him, not because he could coach!! lol He had 10 years & that young team he got to a granny not only got killed but never got back there. He got sucked into thinking he had enough to win it all with that group. Yes, we are soo bad now that even the daniher years are seen as some sort of golden age, but for me only flags can equal a golden age, otherwise it's just more false dawns. Anyone here remember just how frustrating those 'off' years were every second season? If things didn't go just peachy for that group of players they dropped there bundle, repeatedly..... Now we just drop our bundle running out of the banner. Also, his treatment of Schwatta was a disgrace, Schwatta was the only bloke in that gf side who kept pushing all day, he had mongrel, but daniher wanted 'nice guys'..... Then he called for them to get ruthless!! What a joke.
-
Good work KC, thanks for the updates & thanks for putting some of these imbeciles in their place.
-
Even Peter Jackson thinks our players have no respect for the jumper let alone any bloody coach!!!
-
This group of players buried bailey who they supposedly supported..... And couldn't even be inspired by jimmy!!! I've stopped going to the footy because of the players on our list, Chris Dawes was 10000000% right!! For 10 years we've recruited nice guys with no fire in the belly!!! At this stage I couldn't care who the coach is, our rookies & battlers with a few exceptions are the only blokes having a dip, and this has been the case for far too long, both under neeld & bailey.

Agree, whatever gets it done. And try to nab good mature FA mid.

COL GARLAND'S HONEST INTERVIEW (must watch)

The decision to force Jnr out cost us Bruce. Fact. It [censored] a number of players off at the club & continues a poor long term history of not looking after people who meant a lot to the club. Then we wonder why our player culture is up a creek?!? One way footy will never bring success, we won games under bailey as down hill skiers and ask anyone who really knows footy where that'll get you. I'm glad schwab is gone & I hope the boys club gets a real friggin shake up, give some people like Jackson & Craig complete power to revamp the internal workings of the club and give the coach some real bloody support (2nd coach in a row schwab has messed with, go ask Craig what he thought of that!). Oh, & the Neeld gameplan is to hit a bloody target & hold a tackle!!! They had specialist tackling coach in the preseason, many here reported seeing the work being put into that. Now they go with 1 hand out tackling again?!?! That tackle coach (forget name now) has worked with many top clubs, wonder if he'll give us a refund on whatever we paid him? Ha!! Our current list was so poorly managed the 10 years leading up to the Neeld appointment, it started with Daniher never rejuvenating the list & poor development. We have talent sure, but huge gaps in various age & experience brackets & a very very poor culture, it's taken Jackson how long to point that out? It is largely the players but I also blame a [censored] weak board who allowed schwab to stay on & the board as it stands are still a bunch of imbeciles (you think any other club wouldn't have challenged a $500k fine for being found 'not guilty' in court. Really think the bombers will be slapped that hard at the end of their investigation? A fish often rots from the head, not middle management & the task to turn this around is a collective one from the top. They need to be dedicated as much as the coaches & the players also! -
Bring in Magner, he would've made the difference today!! Lol
-
Disclaimer: I really think Grimes in particular had stepped up the captain stakes this year & still have faith Trenners will once he's 100% right. I don't wan this to degenerate into another thread bagging the footy department for their choices for captain. I think the whole footy world can see we've put a lot of pressure & responsibility on 2 very young blokes, rightly or wrongly, and most of us agree it is wrongly. This is a thread to celebrate my favourite player Nathan Jones! I've been a huge Jones fan since day 1, he's been much maligned prior to recent years, I think too much was expected from him too early, especially given the culture he walked into (sound familiar). Today he gets his chance to lead the boys officially and I reckon he is going do a sensational job of it!! I don't care what jumper he followed as a kid, right now he is the bloke who really bleeds for the club, literally & figuratively. Good luck Jones, you have worked very hard & deserve it, go smash em today boys!!!

[Hypothetical] Melbourne and Collingwood exchange coaches
thevil1 replied to Whispering_Jack's topic in Melbourne Demons
I think the player swap of Daisy & Swan for ANYONE on our list would make make a much bigger difference this week than swapping our coach with any of Roos, Malthouse or Buckley. Culture takes time to change, those blokes already have it ingrained but didn't always, hopefully our boys are starting to get that. While I realize the coach plays a huge & vital role, it was the playing list & coin that Ross Lyon jumped ship for (not that garbage that 'my game plan executed right will beat any team in the league regardless of who's playing' crap he has been preaching this year). That is for his charges to buy into, but no coach has ever kicked the winning goal etc, its up to them to get the boys out there to do it, and we still have blokes who 3 coaches so far have been unable to get that our of them. Meanwhile a bloke like Nath Jones is doing it regardless.... But I digress. -
Really? Well you are wrong. A number of clubs do this and your logic is very flawed. Why nominate someone who your not certain to play meaning you have actually given the 'spot' on the list to 1 rookie rather than keeping all your rookie list options open until you are certain to play one. It actually gives them more to choose from, not less. Some of you are just too keen to stick the boots in without using any grey matter whatsoever. And for those that think Magner is a certainty, this isn't his first year dominating VFL & he'd be a fringe AFL player at any AFL club. Doesn't mean I don't hope he becomes a gun AFL player, my personal belief is he will still make it, and I hope everyone on our list makes it, but not all will, including some of our favourites. Couch, who has also been consistently very good at Casey is also still in the running right now & maybe they'd like to keep MORE options open & see over the next few weeks who can elevate themselves to even greater heights to make that spot his own? But to see this decision as a 'disadvantage' at the selection table shows a complete lack of knowledge or brains and an eagerness to trash our footy department at every and any chance possible. Typical demonland garbage....

Great work mousey, always bring sum info to the table... I asked sum1 I know who is involved at the cannons just now, they said they had limited direct work with him but rates his talent, should become a power player. He's personal opinion is that a lot will come down to interviews with this kid cause he's a bit up n down on attitude/application but how good he gets depends on the attitude he brings... On a side note to that, I kinda think we need a young bloke like that. Reason being is these r often the enigma types who r a touch arrogant but in the right environment can flourish a la fev, buddy, even the duck! We've recruited a lot of 'leadership' material young blokes of late in grimes, watts, scully etc, mayb sum raw arrogant talent can be managed well by us given the culture we are building? Dunno, just a thought
-
I think what is meant is someone like rich or hurley were picked later even thou they were the most ready instantly to play afl, yet blokes like watts, niknat and hill were drafted higher on potential later down the track... Bit like the whole delidio/tambling vs roughie/franklin thing... Receuiters I think are thinking more about 'potential' to improve and be the more dominant player down the track rather than instantly good but limited in how much improvement is in them depending on where they think their list is at
-
I've been on the trengrove/morabito fence a bit, but you make some good points, 12 months ago most ppl had scully and butcher as locks in the top few picks, I think most have forgotten the potential he showed last year against better prospects... I know hurley played mostly fb as a junior, and towelled watts up in a game last year, did he and butcher ever battle? I rate hurley pretty highly myself
-
I've been split between trengrove and morabito but if we can convince boak, I'm all for it!
-
Humour wasn't evident in your original post buddy, as for the English language comment, this is a footy message board and you seemed to understand what I wrote perfectly well, unlike having to decipher your attempt at humour... I've read plenty of muppet posts from you lately, such as your uneducated comments on jetta in the other draft thread. So you can stick your points where the sun don't shine
-
Selfish? Your kidding right? He's very team orientated, as mentioned as a strength of his on the draft camp website on afl.com
-
I don't mind him as a player personally... Think he's been unhappy for a while over there, very good long kick, athletic but dunno about his hardness and a touch loose. Probably superfluous to our needs however Don't forget guys, this year clubs can trade future picks for players, might makes trading easier!!
