  1. I think we have some really good developing young mids and I think Stretch and ANB will develop nicely. I like the balance of Francis at 3 and McKay at 7. A big bodied utility and a tall KPP who could also develop to play second ruck. The thing I like about McKay is his age and potential ceiling. The idea of Weiderman is great but his injuries are such a concern and the Vibe of Curnow just isn't there for me. I don't think you would loose too much on McKay over Weiderman after a year even if he remained injury free. There was talk that if McKay was only a few days older he would be a top pick next year. We traded next year's first rounder to this year, and we could likely get him cheaper than he would of been next year with the added bonus of an extra year in the system (as JT said) and similar to Hogan with the mini draft. Just my gut feel and opinion.
  2. Bitter, we certainly do. And Wayne, I think the education would be a good idea. Not only the glory years, or individual greats, but more recently also what not to do. Interestingly I think there are a number of stories worth mention. Neita, Schwartz, Yze, and I was always a Cam Bruce and Brad Green fan. I have wondered though - how history would view Travis Johnstone. How would Demonlanders explain him and his contribution to the youth?
  3. Also, for those interested and don't know a lot about him. Bluey also has an Airbase/Airfield named after him. More info here: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mungalalu_Truscott_Airbase.
  4. Not sure if it is common knowledge or not, but the Airmen's club at RAAF Base Darwin is also named after the great Bluey Truscott. Was over the moon when I came across it one day. His service legacy - particularly within the RAAF - is a certainly a deep one.
  5. Funny - Fitzpatrick always reminded me of Beaker.......
  6. I had high hopes for Troy Davis as well. I posted recently on ology that I think he would be worth looking at as a rookie draft prospect if Frawley was to leave. Always seemed to have a bit of mongrel and desire about him, and at 21/22 there is plenty of time to flourish as a KPP. Would likely never be a champ but would be solid backup if required, especially if he was given a limited role or job to do, ala Georgiou. Some people are very harsh on our young blokes, which is often well founded, but I heard nothing but good things about Troy's attitude and that is one of the most important things you need in your back-up players.
  7. Saw him as a junior. Bit unco. He is fine with his tap work in the middle with that beak, but he is too slow and a liability around the ground. Also, as a resting forward, once the ball hits the deck he is useless below the knees (beak gets in the way). I don't know what Roos was thinking???? Always thought Oscar the Grouch was a better option off the HBF...... bloody recruiters.
  8. Its time to put Watts into the middle. That is where our greatest weakness is and it needs an injection of class. Empower the kid and give him responsability to turn our fortunes around, not sit in a pocket and hope he can be a hero on the back of someone elses work. It will give him nowhere to hide and he will have to learn to take the hits. It is not a long term solution, as I still see him as a forward in the future, but it will shake things up for now. Nothing else is working atm, we have to try something. It saddened me to hear Watts say this club lacks leaders and not put his hand up. Leaders are either born or created through opportunity. Start him in the centre and challenge the kid to be a leader.
