LH - this is an awesome piece of work. PS: You need to adjust the premiership icons which are a bit out of whack since the delistings. Thanks TA -
How healthy is suburban and country football?
#11-TonyAnderson replied to binman's topic in Melbourne Demons
AFL NSW took over our league this year in NW NSW - provided more professionalism during the finals and removed parochial tribunals run by the Club. In a league of 6 teams, only four are competitive and only three or four players from each team are of very good standard. -
Game plans, tactics and all that jazz

The 6–6–6 rule: a rule introduced in the AFL from 2019 to reduce flooding that says that at centre bounces each team must have six players in their forward-50 arc, six players in their defensive-50 arc, and six players between the arcs. Based on this information - can someone explain to me why we couldn't use set up with 5 players on the arc and 1 in the square (i.e. Fritch OR BBB). Means we could get quick players to the square to stop quick outlet (out the back by other team) AND also creates plenty of room for a lead by the FF - and also the other 5 could be surging towards the ball location or the additional space created. This is more likely to suit our kick it in the air /bomb long approach and reverts to our style when we had two extra players off the back of the square before the intro of the rule. -
That was us in the early 2010's

This award is meant to be for the best and fairest. It lost all credibility when DiPierdomenico won it in 1986 and so it continues this year - Cripps should have been suspended and been ineligible in my opinion. I wonder if Ah Chee thinks he is the fairest?

Was disappointed with the last half. They need to get a defensive Coach - too many easy goals over the back today when Lions swarmed forward. And our forwards need to play in front. Tyla Hanks, Kate Hore and Lily Mithen were great.

So will I - come all the way from Tamworth so have to have a fix of 'Demons' somehow - would have gone to the Women's game today too if the GF was played yesterday.

Improving the Demons coaching staff for 2023?
#11-TonyAnderson replied to Supreme_Demon's topic in Melbourne Demons
For those who don't know re: Bassett: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nathan_Bassett As a 19-year-old and was drafted at pick 3 by Melbourne Football Club in the inaugural AFL rookie draft. Melbourne[edit] Drafted with the third selection in the first AFL Rookie Draft by Melbourne in 1997,[1] Bassett was elevated to the senior list after Round 4 in 1997 to replace Craig Turley but suffered a fractured sternum in the next Reserves game and was unable to make his AFL debut for the Demons.[2] When he made his return to the reserves he played six more games at full forward but didn't see much of the ball and wasn't suited to the role.[3] At the end of the season he was traded to Adelaide for Matthew Collins and Brent Williams. So ... we had him as a player and then he was traded back home. As he has spent so much time in Adelaide, perhaps he is happy to stay there?- 104 replies

The Trading & Drafting to Get Back on Track Board is LIVE
#11-TonyAnderson replied to Demonland's topic in Melbourne Demons
LJ will always be one of our premiership players and the fact that I got to see a premiership is something that I am very grateful for. I wish him all the best and hope we get a great outcome from the trade. -
Poor @ MCG

I was actually referring to all four 'smalls' for us last Friday Night - ANB: Spargo; Pickett and Melksham were less damaging collectively than Papley (in my humble opinion). I hope they all bounce back for the next three wins and lift a Premiership cup at the G

We need a decent forward crumber who does more than pressure acts and actually kicks goals (Elliot; Papley; Stengle etc)

My issue with Bedford is he doesn't seems to be relaxed/calm in his thinking - it seems 2 seconds behind his very fast movements. Maybe Bowey in as Medi-sub (if Petracca doesn't come up) and Smith comes in as additional forward?
-
And I was there and it was brilliant - after we had flogged Norf by 100+ points the week before.

Joel Smith set to sign new contract extension.

If he can stay fit is he our new Pedo? -
If he makes Medi-sub does Jordon miss out?
-
If TMac is fit enough it will allow BBB to stay at FF and potentially clunk a few or get a free or two for interference.

Harmes tried to take many players on instead of taking the first option. I agree with DD.

As far as I could see he Didn’t do much on Thursday

Should have been a free to Sydney for Kennedy dropping the ball the legging Parker - instead soft free and goal to Carlton!
