  2. Interesting that McInerney is #2 for goals scored when they picked him up from Casey (right under our noses)!

  5. I see that we demolished the Bullants by 8 goals nine yesterday. Was anybody at the game who can report on how our AFL listed players performed?
  6. Staggered that we are momentarily top of the Ladder. It is undeserved but illustrates the evenness of the competition. The first quarter score of 4.4 to 0.4 was commendable, however we were then outscored over the next three quarters to eventually win by 3.4. When we start winning by 16 goals, then I will feel that we have truly made it!
  7. As an MCC member, when I finally got into the ticketec site I was told that all Level 2 & 3 seats had gone, apart from the 50 year members area! So I took a seat there and another seat on Level 1 and then went in the ballot for the Dining Room, when I was told that overflow was to be in the Committee Room and Long Room. As it turned out, there was no dining in the Long Room Carvery but the a-la-carte dining was extended into the Dining Members Bar, 15% of Level 2 seating was no-shows and the bars were all shut for stand up drinkers (despite there being no social distancing in the seated areas). Bedlam!
  8. Not having Foxtel or Kayo, I watch down the pub. No need for a mute button as they never have the sound on! ?
  9. Why wouldn’t you list him with Casey Demons (where we can keep an even closer eye on him and he would be training/playing with senior list players)? I am sure Casey players are outside our cap.
  10. Isn’t there sufficient lands at Docklands near the Bridge? At least trams can get there easily from the city and it would link to either Flinders Street or Southern Cross. The land is unattractive for any other use as people are now discovering. ?
  11. I think that we might find Baker swapping roles with T. Mac with Petty also spending time at CHF.
  12. Nothing stupid about the President or Pert speaking at a supporters function. It’s their role to communicate across the membership. They didn’t select the venue. It would be bad if they didn’t support a group who financially back the club. Why should coterie members not be able to listen to the club management.
  13. I am sure that Peggy O’Neill would be more than happy to speak with any group of loyal supporters.
  14. Sorry LN. I suspect that we are on the same page. Coterie and supporter groups are not the MFC. (I attended a private luncheon (hosted at a male-only club) where the guest speaker was Noel McMahon, last Premiership captain, an inspiring speaker and the venue was superior to a noisy pub).
  15. What is it about the words ‘closely affiliated with’ that you fail to grasp? ?
  16. I don’t know why the Melbourne Football Club is able to own its title when there are another nine clubs in the Greater Metropolitan area? ? p.s. the MFC has members/supporters of both genders and across the social spectrum in every State and Territory, even overseas).
  17. Last time I googled it there were 63 genders. Wait until restaurants and football stadiums have to provide toilet facilities for each offical gender. Perhaps the next outrage will be a demand for club committees/boards to have equal representation. ?
  18. Actually great times can be had inside the hallowed walls of Clubland, whether they be ‘single-sex’ or mixed. All of Melbourne’s Clubs welcome the opposite gender and some of their most memorable events are mixed, whilst single-sex women’s organisations (i.e. Fernwood Gym) NEVER admit men.The single-sex iteration offer camaraderie and debate, rarely found in mixed Clubs (eg. MCC, RACV,). All I can say, is that there is nothing irregular in the MFC hosting a mixed event at a normally exclusively male stronghold as it is a grand room. Let’s close this thread and focus on winning Premierships with our ‘single-sex’ football teams! By the way, I have never aspired to be a member of the Aussie Club.
  19. I don’t know whose decision it was, however it was inspired as it is one one the finest rooms in Melbourne.
  20. Actually, it was 55 years ago. (I was at school with him.)
  21. I think that it’s a great venue and one of the best spaces in Melbourne. I am sure that the Club also considered the alternatives of the (women-only) Alexandria Club or the (women-only) Lyceum Club before deciding that the Aussie was the size best suited for the event!
  22. Good team (but I would have Baker for Jones)!
