I found this article from Chris Judd very interesting: http://www.theage.com.au/afl/afl-news/chris-judd-risk-of-random-abuse-becomes-pay-day-for-onlookers-with-smartphones-20150428-1muzqz.html Gives a considered perspective we don't often get - that of the players. One of the best articles I've ever read from a footy player.

THE DRUG SCANDAL: AFL TRIBUNAL DECIDES
Bluey's Dad replied to Whispering_Jack's topic in Melbourne Demons
Heh, the tribunal decision may bite them on the arse as it basically says no one knows what the hell was injected into the players. What are Essendon going to argue to Worksafe? "Oh, uh, yeah we don't know what it was but it totally wasn't unsafe." There will be massive fallout over this I think. -
Agreed. The constant gambling advertising is also completely out of hand. I'm so sick of hearing the odds on every single little thing.

If there weren't so many off field issues, they wouldn't hijack the game. Drugs is an important story, as is racism. If you're talking about the constant coverage of coach's contract status though, I agree. Do the story then leave it unless something actually happens.

THE DRUG SCANDAL: AFL TRIBUNAL DECIDES

So basically, "not enough evidence". Nowhere in the article though does it go into intent. Plus what the hell is Essendon's explanation for an injecting regime that aligns with one required for TB4? Even if it wasn't TB4, they thought it was and should be punished. All this means is that if you want to dope, make sure you use some dodgy characters and don't keep records. -
Just read this entire thread with my morning coffee. Today is going to be a good day. FWIW, I think we'll hold onto our young stars in the making. They just seem so dedicated, especially Brayshaw.

Moneyball!!! Can't wait to throw this in the face of the first Carlton supporter I see. I hope they spent big dollars on it too.

THE DRUG SCANDAL: AFL TRIBUNAL DECIDES

HAHAHA, nice one Titus: Port Adelaide vs. Hawthorn (AO) 7.40pm Now this is a game. Are Port Adelaide for real, or are they all smoke, INXS music and mirrors? Ollie Wines injury will certainly not help and the Power have already identified that the Hawks have ‘bullied’ other teams this season. It’s a good point. You’d need a team of supermen built in a lab to defeat the Hawks. Hawthorn will still be carrying a fair bit of that anger from the loss to the Bombers, belting the Bulldogs doesn’t exactly send a message that the loss was a one time thing. This will have its moments but the Hawks will win. He's a funny man. -
3 weeks is a joke. What happened to all those "one punch" campaigns? The AFL not supporting them any more? Weak by the tribunal, should have been 4 or 5.

THE DRUG SCANDAL: AFL TRIBUNAL DECIDES

Exactly. Apparently only absolute proof would comfortably satisfy the AFL tribunal. Sigh. -

lol. The way it's looking right now, Brisbane will have a top 4 pick. Why the hell would they trade a pick that good for Hampson or Vickery? No chance.

I find Dermie's special comments about player movements and structures interesting. As someone who never played footy beyond primary school, I like these sorts of strategic comments. It enhances my enjoyment of the game when I understand more deeply why things do or don't work. Having said that, his ego is pretty huge which is hard to listen to at times.

That's ok. I didn't want to get used to feeling hopeful about footy anyway.

THE DRUG SCANDAL: AFL TRIBUNAL DECIDES
Bluey's Dad replied to Whispering_Jack's topic in Melbourne Demons
I'm not so sure. The decision illustrated that they were satisfied with the supply chain and intent of those within the supply chain to source TB4. The players got off because they couldn't prove they knew what they were taking. That doesn't really apply to Dank as he knew he was trying to source the TB4. -

If CAS come to a different decision I think it was expose this very conclusion. I'm sure the AFL will find a way to spin it though. -

Didn't think of it that way. Interesting. I maintain though that a certain team should no longer be playing on ANZAC day. -

lol. Can't believe he was cleared. The guy tried to source TB4 from China and was cleared of "attempting to administer TB4". This whole thing is a complete travesty. Bring on CAS. -

Dank cleared of TB4 related charges: http://www.theage.com.au/afl/afl-news/stephen-dank-cleared-on-charges-related-to-thymosin-beta-4-20150417-1mnho6.html Guilty of other charges apparently, doesn't say what yet. Sigh. -
