CASEY: Rd 02 vs Footscray
spirit of norm smith replied to Whispering_Jack's topic in Melbourne Demons
Casey showed more today and fought the game out. Considering the lack of players available, it was a solid effort. Unavailable. Laurie. Tomlinson. Injured. Hunter, Melksham, McAdam, Bowey, Spargo, May, Disco Turner 👏👏👏AMW. Verrell. Tholstrup 👏👏Adams. Fullarton 👏Kynan Brown , Sestan 🤞🤔Jefferson showed more and still 12 months of development needed 🎯Schache is very solid at this level. Great effort today from White, Hustwaite and Connolly. -
Not a good sign. Bombers prefer Langford, Stringer, Harrison Jones to compete. Sam on the outer again.

Looks like a good player with his run from half back. -
CASEY: Rd 02 vs Footscray

At least 2 players like Laurie and Tomlinson won’t play. It’s going to be a boys v men type of game. Bulldogs to win by 50+ unfortunately. Too many senior Dees players unavailable -
Brave. Loyal. Tough. Strong. Determined. That’s our JV7. Congratulations JV on 200 games. He stands up as one of very best. Premiership player. Multiple top 3 in B&F shows his consistency. May be play on to get close to 300. God speed.

The ANB Appreciation Thread
spirit of norm smith replied to leave it to deever's topic in Melbourne Demons
Yes ANB can be a barometer sometimes for the team. Important link man across the half forward line. Playing a good role in the last 2 games. He is using his endurance as a weapon in the team. I’d like to see him kick more goals as he gets chances and aim for 25-30 at least across the season (like he did in 2018). Output of 7 to 10 goals a year is actually well below par for his role. -
2020 AFL National Draft prospects: The next batch
spirit of norm smith replied to Whispering_Jack's topic in Melbourne Demons
Swans in 2020 probably did the best out of any club in this draft. JUH of course was a gift for the bulldogs. -
Laurie Extends for 2 More Years
spirit of norm smith replied to Heart Beats True's topic in Melbourne Demons
I haven’t seen anything yet to show me that he will be part of our midfield group for the next few years. Yes he has some skills but fumbles too much and lacks real pace to clear away from opponents. Even at Casey last week, he was serviceable but really didn’t standout. Obviously the club sees more unfulfilled talent in him. -

The Footy with Broden Kelly - Hester & Ben Brown
spirit of norm smith replied to Rab D Nesbitt's topic in Melbourne Demons
Yes fair enough. But it was the main starting to the show in introducing Ben Brown, it’s a howler !!! The Harmes to Fritsch play in the 3rd quarter in the 21GF is a key turning point and part of Demons history. -
Howes was rated highly and we stole him as a late 2nd round pick. Had just needed to get his body right. We can see him footy iq and skill.
-
Yes Dees have 3 former players in top 20 Only crows with former player Dangerfield in this list !! imagine hogan and Jackson still in red and blue … now let’s wake up

I like it. The run and run and run style of footy. -
The Footy with Broden Kelly - Hester & Ben Brown

WTF. To correct. 3rd quarter. Key moment was Viney to Harmes to FRITSCH … not to Brown. BBB too polite to correct him. Broden Kelly. Currently a part time comedian. Auditioning as a wannabe podcaster. -

• Tomlinson. He played well under constant pressure. A few mistakes but could be considered to replace May. • Moniz-Wakefield. I like him. Good at the contest. Tackles like he means it. Hope he debuts this year. • Laurie. Has the skill but seems to be too casual at times. Needs a rocket. Likely end of year delisting. • Fullarton. Perhaps still settling in. He’s an athlete and can be handy. Woewodin. Nice runner but needs better support. One of the better players today. • Adams. Still young and raw. 2nd year. Perhaps ready by 2026 • Jefferson (see Adams) … but as a first rounder, I am getting worried. • Tholstrup. I can see why we jumped up spots and gave away 1st and 2nd round combo to get him. Should debut in 2024. Good competitive attitude. Likely start as a half forward. • Schache . No no no. Has not developed in 7 years. Nice bloke but lacks the competitiveness to be a strong key forward. End of year delisting. • K. Brown. No frills. Socks down footballer. I like his heart and scrap. • Verrall. (See Adams). • Farris-White. A punt. No success here.

Best? Hustwaite, Tholstrup, Tomlinson, Woewodin… if any. Maybe add AMW.

Missing Dunstan, Munro, Jordon, Harmes, Grey. The engine room from 22 and 23. Depth now eroded.
-
Campbell Hustwaite already showing he’s a very very player at VFL level. A good addition.
