2024 TELSTRA AFL DRAFT COMBINE
SWANS ACADEMY PROSPECT TAKES MANTLE SYDNEY Academy prospect Joel Cochran has claimed the first honours at this weekend's Draft Combine, winning Friday's 2km time trial. Cochran completed the run in 6:05 minutes, beating out Bendigo Pioneers talent Tobie Travaglia, who was second overall in a run of 6:13 minutes. South Australian defender Angus Clarke and Claremont's Will Hayes both registered times of 6:18 minutes, while Hamish Davis did the endurance test in 6:18 minutes. Cody Angove and Jasper Alger, who both ran 6:28, and Adrian Cole (6:24) were among the other strong performers in the test.

The Wade Derksen Thread
Agree. Derksen is a good young player but the Giants are stacked with tall forwards and tall defenders. They should honour his request. He’s family support should be recognized by the Giants. Dees should keep asking the question.

Oliver Trade Rumours
“I know, come round one next year, when I see the first ball bounced and our midfield of Gawn, Viney, Oliver and Petracca ... that you Melbourne faithful will be there in full force," Green said.

MFC 2024 BEST & FAIREST NIGHT
JV7. unite next year. Coaches. Players. Fans. Galvanize ourselves. Not win or losses. Not about premierships. Just be proud of ourselves. Start to feel hungry to next year. We feel embarrassed. Like after 2019. Deflected the Todd calling him to see about the Kangas. He’s a great young man.

MFC 2024 BEST & FAIREST NIGHT
Max Gawn. Tonight shows our spirit. As a footy club, we are united. The lads. Ed. Milkshake. Gus. Nibbler. The Ring. Premiership ring. It means so much. Ring reminds us that we had some miserable years but developed. The hurt is something to build on.

The Cooper Hynes Thread
Agree that Xavier Lindsay is an elite kick and I think he will be very popular choice given he’s an inside/outside mid that can easily also play the half back distribution role. So he’s probably going to be around live pick 12/13 so much harder to get clubs to trade in or fall back at this pick. It might take a lot of courage to trade out the MFC future 1st to get 12/13 off say Gold Coast. But you never know … !!!

The Cooper Hynes Thread
Like that “5” should get us an high quality youngster likely a midfielder. Agree that Hynes will be sought after given his physical style of play, good size, pace over 5-15 metres is excellent. His kicking can be wayward so that’s why he’s in the 18-25 draft range and not 3-8 range. Strategy could be in the mix (if we get “25” for ANB) to package up some picks to try to pickup say “18” off the Lions (lions want points to bid on Ashcroft & Marshall).

Trade Targets
Assume Cats will grab McHenry. He’s a local lad (Barwon Heads) with talent who just didn’t quite make if however has the talent. Will Hamill could not get his body right. Saw him play some decent games for Crows but kept getting injured and he again didn’t show enough to often retain his place. Might get a train on spot over the summer. Bayside boy from the Mornington peninsula so expect Frankston or Casey to sound out his signature in the off season.
