Grimes needs to chase with more intensity, he jogged after a kick in and lost it, he jogged after his player then realised he was going to go for goal so started to chase all too late, very little tackling and damn too slow to move the ball. wasted opportunities. Having said that some positives gawns goal, pederson has been good. Hopefully they will settle down now and play better football than the first half of that quarter.

a champion and a truly humble person.

Defensive pressure all over the ground will put them off their kicking and their game, it is how we have won our other games. The sides we beat all kicked lots of points due to our pressure and somewhat to our poor kicking in. dont let them have an easy kick or handpass force them to have long shots, etc.. and we are in with a chance.

Players to target at the end of the year
Deecisive replied to JackVineyForPresident's topic in Melbourne Demons
Mitchell may love the swans but I am sure he is not loving sitting out watching AFL games when he dying to be playing at this level. If he does not play he cannot show how good he is, he cannot justify getting more $$'s. Buddy and Tippet taking large slabs of their salary cap and while it does seem to be working at the moment, players like mitchell and viney need to be at the bottom of the packs. If he does not get too many games then he will seriously be considering his options. -
Match Preview and Team Selection - Round 10

howe has been named in the forward line, would not be surprised to see him as a spare floating down the backline to help negate schultz and co. -
Port is rightfully on top of the ladder at the moment and we are still struggling down near the bottom. While we have improved, we are still a far way from beating port. They maybe tired after the bruising encounter with the Hawks, they may have some injuries and they may underestimate us but they are still good enough to beat us. The loss of Dawes is a major blow as he did attack the ball and present, the other major downside is we are coming off a bye, and past history shows we have seldom played well after a bye. A lot of things Roos and the team have to deal with, I am hoping to see them put in and continue to show the improvement and tenacity they have been playing with of late.
-
I for one are happy for them to continue to underestimate us, makes for much better odds when we win..

while Dawes did a silly thing done in the heat of the moment seconds after the ball left the players boot. The severity of the penalty (2 weeks) is rubbish. just the tribunal trying to get back at MFC for Jack Viney getting off and making them look like the bunch of dills that they are. I have great difficulty understand some of their charges, decisions and punishments look at murphy and other bumps/head high hits that have followed. These guys on the tribunal are lost at sea and dont know what to punish or not punish anymore.

Match Preview and Team Selection - Round 9

I would like to see Gawn and Jamar swapping between on ball and full forward to rest, so that they do not rotate off the ground too often that will force the tigers to keep a real tall down back on them and allow our running players more interchanges. Need to have some grunt crumbing to gawn, Dawes and Jamar, players who can put forward pressure on the tigers back men. that should give us a few more opportunities as crumbing a few goals. looking forward to Salem, Riley kicking goals and possibly some tiger butt. -

I would love to see mckenzie be given free rain in the midfield instead of tagging players all the time, this would still allow him to be accountable for a man but still contribute a bit more to our own attack.

the problem with the tribunal system is that it does not really accurate assess intent, the tribunal uses the word reckless which is not really correct in a lot of situations where deliberate physical harm or damage was intended. intent should count for more in deciding the penalty and do away with this farcical reckless tag. The damage done should be the second factor in determining the penalty and lastly the players history.

So what would have happened if viney was the one who ended up with the broken jaw instead of lynch, would lynch be up for suspension?
-
interesting that delideo got off a deliberate elbow to the head and can play in Richmonds next game which is against the MFC, Viney gets 2 which means he does not get to play against footscray or Richmond. I think ex players who have played for a club should not be able to judge players of that club just in case there is a potential conflict of interest.
-
The club needs to appeal to show the players that they fully support them going in hard for the ball. If we do not appeal then we will be sending mixed messages to the players, go in hard but not too hard. The video is quite clear Jack is tracking the ball, it bounces and he sees a potential collision and in the .5 of a second before impact his body's natural self defense kicks as Jack tries to stop and brace himself for the impact. immediately after the impact Jack swoops on the ball and clears it. a joke decision to say he intended to bump.
-
i am amazed that the fact that he kept his eye on the ball and gathered the ball after the collision did not demonstrate that was what he was going for.
-
strange that the collingwood player that layed out chapman in the goal square a few weeks ago was not referred to the tribunal for the same offense.
-
so jack was supposed to pirouette out of that, and if he did not move quick enough the much heavier lynch with Georgio on his back would have cannonballed into Jack and could possibly have broken his back. So from now on ANY collision between two or more players must be avoided under the threat of suspension. Something must be done about this tribunal these guys are an absolute joke and blight on the game.

i loved the fact that it looked like we actually scored more from Adelaides turn overs than they scored of ours. Our ability to score is at the moment hampered by our running another man on the ball and having our forwards running high up the ground at times, hopefully as we get better our forwards can stay at home more. Salem was a great example when he first came in the ball was in our forward line a bit so he was active, in the later part of the game when he came in a lot more of the game was being played in Adelaides forward line so he had to go a lot further to get a possession.
-
a great win against an over confident crows outfit. fantastic that Roosy got the full 22 players putting in today and they all reaped the reward and hopefully give them confidence going forward. Dawes was excellent especially in the last when he was outnumbered 3 to one on multiple occasions and still won the ball. now those playing for casey have to really stand up if they want to get a game next week or possibly the week after as only replacements are likely to be due to injury or if the world goes crazy suspension. As for the umpires they look as if they are using a different rule book every week and you have to guess what they are going to pay or not pay. only melbourne players got pinged for holding the ball and not kicking 15 meters. again incorrect disposal counts for nothing now.
-
he turned to take possession of the ball, did not look as if bumping was his goal. play on...
-
should appeal, 93 points for that is garbage.
-
Roos on the news stating that Jacks spot is safe.

I dont mind the idea of gawn at ff, he is relative mobile and can provide a bit of a contest down forward, we obviously need crumbers around him as he is not likely to be taking a lot of marks. Adelaide will need to play a tall defender on him or risk him standing in the goal square and taking marks. Watts and Howe have to play and play well. it is not so much for this weeks when we play the bulldogs and tigers two of the few games we have a chance to win, so this weeks game should be seen as an audition for that game fail to deliver and its back to the VFL. Riley against his old team and working with Vince would be worth a try, he has shown he is hard at the ball and that will take some pressure off jones, viney, cross, vince and tyson. I would like to see midfielders rested in the forward line to provide improved crumbing option at the back with salem and frawley at the front with dawes.
