  1. I disagree, he needs to find space and be damaging in it to be an outside mid, his kicking will make him damaging it's just about finding space enough to get 30+ touches per game, atm he averages 17 as a forward and has proven a capable goal kicker, if he does that through being quick or through being intelligent is totally irrelevant
  2. pace isn't the issue, it's if he has developed the tank to play that role, he's a smart footballer so he will find space, for now his average as a half forward is fine
  3. I reckon the players are the same mate.
  4. It's almost shocking how bad some have been, Sam Blease and James Strauss should have been Luke Shuey and David Zaharakis Jamie Benell could have been steven Motlop Jordan Gysberts and Luke Tapscott could have been Mitch Duncan and Jack Gunstan Lucas cook - Jack Darling the worst imo - Cale Morton- Patrick Dangerfield, Cyril Rioli, Ben Mcevoy, Harry Taylor, Callan Ward
  5. I agree, but if we choose to pay someone like Bomber, we have to get the person right, that sort of money involved we get one try, although based on our performances it might be that way anyway i reckon Roosy took the job because he saw the comparison to fitzroy and desperately wanted to avoid that happening again.
  6. we don't have a player on our list who is going to step up at a critical moment and swing a game our way, Jones, Garland, Dunn are honest hard workers but they aren't going to break a game open and win it for you, Jack Viney and Jesse Hogan have the potential to be that though i think
  7. Left field idea... Luke Power, 3 time premiership player, played under Leigh mathews, playing assistant/assistant for 2 years under Sheedy and potentially 2 years under Roosy
  8. Different forms of leadership, it's not, you either lead by example or you aren't a leader, Clark, when he's at the club is a great leader, always revving the boys up and doing the little things Garland is another fantastic leader Grimes and Trengove not so much i don't believe, Frawley probably is a good leader, but his mind is elsewhere Lynden Dunn i reckon is a great leader.
  9. Just from what i have seen, i reckon our real leaders are. Jack Grimes, Jack Trengove, Nathan Jones, Colin Garland, Lynden Dunn and Tom Mcodonald, there are many different kinds of leadership, Trengove and Grimes are quite verbal, Jones and Garland are out best players, Dunn is a good player, gives his all, always verbal and works his ass off on the track, and Tom Mcdonald just leads by example, if it's his training or whatever
  10. Scully, Trengove, Watts and Toumpas didn't surprisde me when they were selected, i was fine with those decisions But looking at it now, Trengove, Morton, Gysberts, Tapscott, Blease, Strauss, should all be guns approaching the best part of their career, if you add even 6 B grade players to our side we suddenly look alot better, it's dissapointing.
  11. Frosty is back thank god! Trengove is averaging 22 touches per game, which is okay but he isn't doing anything with it when he gets it, he has a base, needs to work on that Toumpas has played 16 games and is playing a role, get off his back Frawley has his mind on other things i think Grimes is great apart from skill errors Watts was BOG in round 1 Spencer is a dud so i agree with that one i reckon we have had some much worse players Jeremy howe, James Frawley and Jack Trengove need to lift bigtime
  12. I think that's what happened and Damien Barrett kinda ran with it as if he was setting a deadline.
  13. Positional changes i am predicting for this weekend B: Alexis Georgiou James Frawley Jack Trengove hb: Jeremy Howe Lynden Dunn Jack Grimes c: Dean Terlich Jimmy Toumpas Tom Mcdonald hf: Jack Watts Jack Fitzpatrick Jay kennedy-harris f: Shannon Byrnes Colin Garland Mark Jamar Fol: Max Gawn Bernie Vince Nathan Jones int: Jack Viney, Daniel Cross, Viv Michie sub: Christian Salem
  14. I just think the best way to do it is make the clubs pay a compo, sure Hawthorn can sign James Frawley, but the AFL designates a level of Compo they have to provide us based on the player and they have to do that, rather than they get a player for free and the AFL creates an extra pick for example, James frawley is considered worth pick 10, Hawks have to give us their first and second round picks as there first will be pick 18 or something
  15. Look i certainly don't think he'd go as well as he did at Port, and i reckon if Jimmy was at Port he'd look alot better, so it's really hard to say. I just loved the Wines and Viney story, but i am a huge fan of Jimmy and reckon he will be a really good player, really he probably is too different from Wines to compare looking forward to seeing who of Jack Viney and Ollie Wines is better by the end of this year, obviously keeping in mind the different sides they play in makes it tougher on Jack
  16. That's fair, and i agree, but we don't know if Wright will go pick 1 either so i suppose for me, Wright would be my draft target with whatever pick we do have
  17. for me the comparison is Kurt Tippett, he's a monster, 202 cm and over 100kg already, takes a good pack mark, his kicking at goal is pretty good, leads hard He's another Boyd, Hogan, Patton type player, probably doesn't have the tank of Hogan but Hogan at CHF and Wright at FF sounds great to me,
  18. It's free agency or it's equalisation, i can't see how you can have both sure financially you can support struggling clubs but there is no lure for good players, the second a senior player at a low side like james Frawley comes out of contract he will leave to go to a premiership contender or chase big money, all this ensures is that the strong clubs stay strong and the weak clubs stay weak i am a big fan of Delisted free agency, trading without permission and financial equalisation, but free agency the way it is doesn't work, following US guidelines to closely, in NFL and NBA there are alot more superstars to go around. we have lost 3 senior players who were all leaders and or in our best 22, it's dissapointing that if you added Rivers, Beamer and Sylvia back into our side we'd be much better, Sylvia and Rivers would give us the forward targets we are missing and 3 more senior bodies to provide support for the younger bodies.
  19. I agree, Peter Wright is the hand down pick 1 for me at this point, every bit as exciting as Boyd last year.
  20. yeah it will, Neil Craig might be a sneaky chance if Hird gets done and Bomba goes anyway, can't imagine him wanting to hang around if half the list gets done.
  21. ENYAW, your ramblings always amuse me, well done good sir
  22. Absolutely, what if they finish top 4 and give the flag a serious shake... Hird is gone
  23. desperation, i believe this is our last chance, we can't afford even an 80% chance of success, we get the best two coaches of the modern era and if we go down we know we couldn't be saved. plus i reckon the AFL will help
  24. I love the idea of Roos and Bomber, Roos is one of the very best defensive coaches of the modern era, and Geelong had a lovely to watch attacking flair to them, if we can pick the best parts of both we could be looking at a fantastic game style and a level of footy knowledge that would rival any other club. if Bomber and Roos couldn't save us, we are beyond help
  25. 1. i agree 2. his worst game last year was 90% uncontested his best was 40% uncontested and his average was around the 30-40% mark 3.the only times he is threatening is around the 50 so partially agree, he hit up some good leads from Howe and Bail with not much room for error in the NAB cup, so while he has no real current damaging weapons i can see where they will develop from. 4.he has kicked a goal every game so far this year, and 20% of our goals, not saying much when the team has scored 10 goals in two games. in summary you are correct, Wines suited our needs better, we would be a better side with Wines, Toumpas i think will develop into a gun and should be left alone, but he needs to improve out of sight to be talked about in the same breath as Wines at the minute which is dissapointing. i know i have defended Toumpas and i stand by that, but the thing that still gets to me is this Wines is a ready made player, he'd be in our top 5 players easily right now and making a serious impact Toumpas is improving but isn't any more than a handy role player at the moment but it's the mentality, Toumpas tries hard and wants to be good, Wines refuses to fail. wanting to win and flat our refusing to accept anything but a win are totally different things unfortunately and we need alot more of the latter in our side if we're going to get out of our current hole
