I reckon that's what it is, he runs as though he is in pain, i reckon he needs time and a running coach and it will slowly come back, his pace was very good before he was drafted.
-
Thanks for that mate!
-
I reckon Jimmy has been told his role is to play the flank, run hard and deliver the ball well to our smaller forward line, which i reckon he's doing quite well, the role suits him, as he develops he will move more into the midfield but he needs to adress his weird running style and put on some size, then develop his inside game to become a more complete player.

if i was in charge our team next year would be ????? Mcdonald Garland Grimes ??????? ??????? Vince N.Jones Watts ?????? Hogan Kennedy-harris ?????? ?????? ??????? ?????? Viney Tyson Toumpas ????? ??????? ?????? massive cleanout coming on.

Hi guys, sorry for the slightly selfish thread here, I was considering buying the MFC hoodie and trackies off the website today and was just interested if anyone had one and could tell me if they're warm and worth the 150 dollars it would cost?
-
Hahah thanks, but i'm not concerned in the slightest, we have different opinions and that's fine, it's what a forum is for, the biggest thing to note is that Toumpas and Wines are very different players and the comparison doesn't work, Wines wins clearances, does the hard stuff and is quite good on the outside too which pre draft was probably the knock that meant we didn't draft him. I would have taken Wines, but i have seen plenty of Jimmy Toumpas in his junior days and SANFL days, and while it's not the same as the AFL, i see no reason that he can't transfer that form to the AFL, if he does that he will make up ground on Wines really quickly.

It's about obvious signs of improvement, the only requirement of a 16 game player is that they're constantly showing improvement, the numbers support the idea that he is, especially with a disposal efficiently of around 90% 17 effective touches per game, is good for a young player, means he has a role and he's playing it well. the 3 tackles a game is an indicator that he works hard without the ball too, my non negotiable in footy is that you tackle, he clearly does that, and the 4 marks per game, he isn't taking pack marks so they are uncontested, meaning he is running hard to the right spots numbers support arguments.

Howe and Trengove are two that i'd offer for trade we'd get a first rounder for Howe i reckon and Trengove maybe a late first rounder early second round.

Someone please email that video to the club, that lack of chase 4 minutes in from frawley is disgusting, deserves to be dropped just for that.
-
Based on our current scoring power, i'm not confident we could kick a goal
-
would probably still beat our current side.
-
Just because past players haven't come on is irrelevant, Toumpas is a different player under different coaches under a totally different club, after 16 games he has improved 30% statistically since his first AFL game, i reckon that's perfectly fine last year he averaged 12 touches, 2 tackles and 3 marks a game this year he averages 17.7 touches, 3 tackles, 4 marks and a goal so far, the kid is developing
-
I agree, Melbourne supporters tend to be more impatient than most, Toumpas isn't going badly, he has been at the club for a year and 2 games, won the respect of his team mates, some very experienced coaches and so on, but i feel he is a very emotional person and very much a confidence player.
-
Yupp, i have heard at least 8 teams seriously keen on him
-
You're probably selling Wines short abit, he is certainly in that group as one of the better up and coming midfielders in the comp but you're also right in 16 games is far too short a time to make a judgement on a player to the extent of saying he will never be any good, Jobe was very nearly traded by Sheedy.

PP pick 1: Peter Wright pick 2 ( chip compo) : Angus Brayshaw Pick 3 : Sam Durdin Pick 19: BIlly Stretch
-
I'd be shocked if we don't get Band 1 compo, we will probably finish last, he is going to get 800k because there is going to be a bidding war that we will be involved in and his contract will be somewhere around 4 years, 800k a year reckon the compo will be pick 2
-
He's a hard running outside mid with elite skills and a great goal sense, his speed will come back as he gets his running style sorted, he was quite quick before he was drafted and he will develop his inside game, not concerned about him at all based on having seen alot on him playing Jack Trengove is the one i think is a real worry at the minute.

Changes for next week...

Grimes isn't fantastic with the fundamentals himself, makes alot of silly errors. -
Okay, well actually his contested ball stat is more more 40% but don't let the truth get in the way of your argument, and as i have said many times, i am not arguing Wines vs Toumpas, i'm not arguing Viney vs Wines, Wines playes for Port adelaide so i couldn't care less what he is doing we have jimmy a 16 gamer who is copping an unfair comparison, so of course i am going to point out that after 16 games we can't hope to make an accurate assessment of where he is at without it being mostly a guess.

Fitzy back, Georgiou forward -
the way we are going i reckon we'll get 1 pp 2 3 ( chip compo i'd chase, a quality ruckman, forward and mid
-
I guarantee the AFL have a time frame, at some point they will say you have had enough time to get this right, time to relocated, or time to pull everything back and start again, or time to merge, they need a team called Melbourne, but atm we are so far off where we need to be it's crazy

Ox unleashes on Frawley Melbourne legend David Schwarz has taken aim at key defender James Frawley following the club's big loss to the Eagles. Speaking on his program on SEN, the man known as the Ox felt Frawley wasn't living up to his potential and him know in no uncertain terms. "I watch him and I get so frustrated 'cause the bloke can play footy. But he is not … I don't know whether it's motivation or he doesn't care, but his decision making and his finishing for a quality player, is crap. It's nowhere near where it needs to be. If James Frawley is going to go on the open market at the end of the year - and he can do that, that's his prerogative - but I tell you now, clubs pick up on certain traits and one thing and I heard Brad Scott speak about it with Boomer Harvey, one thing is you can't question someone's endeavour. Well I reckon there's someone questioning James' endeavour at times. I love James Frawley, I've been his biggest supporter but every time Melbourne plays bad, James Frawley is one player that for some reason can't hold down his position. I know he's getting bombarded. He's a full back that's probably seen more footy as a fullback than any other full back in the last five years. (But he's a) Super player … I just don't understand why that positional, that his effort or the way that he's playing is representative of that at moment. He's nowhere near representative of that."

At this stage if he leaves Band 1 compo which we would get for chip if he gets paid 800k for 4-5 years would be pick 2 obviously you'd like to hang onto senior players, in this case the ship seems like it's already sailed, and pick 2 isn't a terrible outcome, we probably get the better of that deal all things considered.
