Fyfe has a serious injury so who knows where he's at, Neale is seriously considering outside offers, Hill is a good player but Sheridan and Taberner are no better than okay and will be exposed when the better players aren't around them. If Lyon doesn't change his plan in a pretty big way they're going to be well off the pace come 2017 If us improving is so big a factor for Jesse's decision, why would he then leave when we do improve and Freo are a huge chance for the wooden spoon?

Where does Chris Dawes fit in all this?
Ted Lasso replied to dazzledavey36's topic in Melbourne Demons
Agree DD, i think Dawes has done what we needed him to do and mentor Hogan to a point, but going forward i think another club like the Lions or Blues for example might have more use for an expeiernced key forward -

Ted Lasso replied to The Backyard Charizard's topic in Melbourne Demons
While i agree that it's not as simple as saying, he's done his hammy so that's misso's fault, i think the same posters who have held the view the injuries in the past have been his fault should currently be enjoying some humble pie. I personally believe a lot of our injuries have been a result of the intense running based pre seasons we'd been having, this season we have had a much more footy focused approach and we are basically injury free on the most part, the real test will be how we go as the year goes on -

I know some posters have had a crack at Dave Mission and the fitness staff at times on here, but hats off to them this year! we have what 2-3 genuinely injured players? JKH, King and Vanders is sort of injured sort of having a break? How many teams enter round 6 with say 41 of 44 players basically ready to go? bloody good position to be in -
Will be very interesting to see how he goes re-building a team.
-
He's been bought in to win a premiership and it's totally backfired on him because he's to arrogant to change his outdated plan.
-
Agreed, but i think it'd be foolish to think the club hasn't been aware of the type of Salary Hogan would command on this offer, no doubt they've structured things in the right way to retain all our talent at the right price.
-
especially with guys like Neale potentially looking at other options.
-
i do, because a player like Hogan could be the difference between multiple flags and going close a couple of times
-
Re-signing Jesse would be massive, i would argue he's the most important re-signing of any player at any club in the AFL
-
I agree, and his manager has said publicly the go home factor isn't huge with Jesse, if we delisted him tomorrow he'd want to stay in Melbourne. I am really confident we'll hang onto him long term
-
I just think with player movement the way it is these days a player like Jesse will get very used to interest from other clubs very quickly. having said that i like where we sit, we can match any financial offer pretty much, we're clearly on the improve and we play at the MFC every other week, which i'm sure a player like Jesse would love. plus i think Freo are in for some fairly lean years so not sure they'll have to many blokes jumping on in a hurry.
-
I think a lot of these people are just making educated guesses that Jesse is a good player from Perth who plays for Melbourne so that means he'll leave. It's rubbish, I think Jesse will stay he's a very old fashioned loyal guy who knows very well the massive investment and loyalty the MFC has shown him already and i think he's desperate to repay that, and that's why he gets so frustrated on the field at times, because he wants the team to win, just hates losing. if for whatever reason he does leave we will ask for massive compensation and welcome Weiderman into the forward line who is a very impressive young talent.
-
We will destroy the saints if we move the ball anything like what we have been recently, the Giants sliced them open and their defense looks very VERY average when they can't get numbers back. Thinking Hogan is due for a big game as well. Looking forward to seeing Petracca out there, slightly dissapointed however that it's most likely at the expense of Brayshaw, would have been great to see all these young guns starting to get a few games together but we really need Gus to find some form, he's very important to us going forward.
-
I mean he's leading the club for pressure acts and about 14th in the comp for tackles, so i'd say he's just being a very VERY good team player consistently and one of the last who should be dropped imo

Jack Trengove
-
Massive call but Christian is good enough to tear this game a new one, no pressure, but he's got Hogan level talent and he's a monster of a human.
-
Well this weekend just got a whole lot more exciting!
-
I don't think Freo's form would make them very appealing but Hawks had a huge offer on the table for him, he'd have to be close to the highest paid player going around to top it.
-
Most likely just on light duties given the short week.
-
Hogan staying would no doubt be a consideration, but i am of the opinion he will. I think in some cases it was the club wanting to get a read on form before making decisions, some the players wanted to see how we'd go and some the talks are just coming along slowly.
-
Disagree, the best attacking defenders still have to defend, Heath Shaw for example is a very good defender, Christian at this stage is not. He is however a very good offensive player and a beautiful user of the ball and i suspect playing his position because we really don't have anyone else
-
I agree, but there is no denying we didn't bring anything like an AFL attitude or play anywhere near what we have in any other game this year. Another 30 seconds and we'd be 4-1 imo
-
I want them mentioning the F word personally, my expectation is this team will play finals, we're good enough. losing to Essendon and North hurts we SHOULD be 5-0
-
That was me, haven't heard much more, i didn't get the sense they were in any rush, but talks had started. it's weird with these things quite often a player signs on and they don't announce it right away so time will tell. but Dom isn't going anywhere, very much a required player and loves the MFC Nev and Tommy Mac at the same point as well, in talks but not sure on time frame, Nev should be pretty soon.
