  1. They have separate graphics teams apparently as there's a lot of feedback on graphics covering scoreboards etc. You wonder how the two networks deal with the ad break or lack thereof. Didn't notice whether Fox were still waiting for the notional ad break to complete before replaying/commenting on the goal. Will be interesting to watch as the season develops PS Thanks for the reference to NEP. Hadn't realised they were so ubiquitous. Made me wonder if by being so they are holding back the innovation that you might see if there were more players in the industry
  2. Out of curiosity I know we now have two commentaries (Fox and Ch 7) and that Fox/Kayo is in 4k but do we have two camera or production teams Thanks
  3. Agree the season is so long the only relevance these games have is end of season ladder position. One thing you can do is look to trends either at team or player level but after one game not so much. I thought that THB against the Swans player with about 6 minutes to go that definitely decided the game was ridiculous. When the whistle blew I thought it was a free to the Swans player as the Hawks players jumped onto his head and back. With no football today this opening round is a fizzer even if no fault of the AFL
  4. Must say I've been happy with the non colour clash of jumpers on TV but that chocolate hawthorn jumper... Even an orange V might have helped save it fashion wise
  5. Out of interest would you be happy with a split round. I suppose the Round zero rubbish allows them to split the following rounds via the early series of byes to even up the rest periods. Perhaps a round in Perth and Adelaide for round zero might enable them to even things up a bit better. Funnily enough I think a Round Zero match in Tasmania might have worked well this year
  6. So Essendon and GCS will be one game behind for the full season. Will make ladder calculations just that more difficult but good training for the never ending bye we will see if a nineteenth team joins the league
  7. With my MFC hat on two draws would be nice but I might even be happier with a 100 point loss by the Pies
  8. Good point It was explained last year that they were taking advantage of no NRL in Sydney or Brisbane. Obviously it's now a television/money play which just makes the long season another week longer
  9. info already posted
  10. How cynical but so true. Shades of the F1 non cancellation on the outbreak of covid and the lawsuit over the post race concert.
  11. Agree. There's a small chance though that it may be a non event. A few weeks ago a level 5 cyclone was heading straight for Australia's main iron ore port of Port Hedland. It ended up crossing 100kms south as a level 3 and damage was minimal. Nature is hard to predict sometimes
  12. It is an almost certainty to be postponed. I suspect it will be to a date to be advised on Friday or Saturday after the initial damage assessment. Being on the Brisbane River there is no way a game proceeds at the Gabba on Thursday night. The degree of concern in Brisbane is palpable. AFL in danger of an own goal if they delay postponing the game. The GC game is a little different being scheduled for Saturday
  13. Yep One goal in a half of football won't win many games
  14. mmmm Interesting a straight swap ?? Unfortunately the game has moved on and small forwards are the new gold What else are they offering.... $$$$$
  15. well... that went bad very quickly
  16. How does that Freo song go
  17. Great to see the usual last minute goal by the opposition Lots of cobwebs to be blown
  18. It's 28 degrees according to BoM
  19. Imagine if they were goals
  20. And 20 minutes later it's 29
  21. Presently 33 at Mandurah according to BoM site
  22. Currently 27 degrees in Mandurah with a predicted maximum of 35. It will be a warm one. Wind does not appear to be a factor
  23. NRL are expecting 50k at the opening NRL game in Vegas. Amazing if true
