  1. why would he feel or be made to feel uncomfortable. Players come and go at all clubs every year. It's the way
  2. I keep hearing that there are around 20 "name players" potentially on the move this trading season. That number may cause the going rates to drop simply because there are less draft picks floating in the trade system that clubs are willing to give up. (Badly expressed but think about it.) Trading season will be very complicated if they are trying to get away 20 "name deals". It usually around 3-4. Admittedly a couple of the 20 are FA's that don't of themselves require trades but on trading of the draft picks may.
  3. With the formula they may well get higher compensation than they can get under a trade. Hawks would not have offered us pick 3 for Frawley. Sometimes the formula works in favour of the giving club.
  4. Gabba = Woolongabba the suburb in which the stadium is located My favorite is of course the WACA
  5. An interesting discussion to be carried on over the off season. WCE played the possession game a la the Hawks but with better forwards. Collingwood midfield was not up to the level it was in the first three finals. Love to hear some considered views.
  6. 6 and say 16 for Kelly... where do we sign !!
  7. Great game. Collingwood have nothing to be ashamed about
  8. Sidebottom not the influential player he has been in the earlier finals
  9. Would like to see weideman signed sooner rather than later. Pies will be desperate if Cox doesn't fire next year
  10. Thinking the same thing
  11. not bad by the Black eyed peas... very hard gig in a cavernous stadium like the MCG but on TV it came across as a 7 out of 10.
  12. Unfortunately we could have been playing at Mars last week and it would not have made a difference. What a time to put in a shocker.
  13. Going forward I would like to see a Sunday night game during the home and away. Perth at a 6pm kick off could work well both for those attending the game and for TV viewing back in the East. It would be great if on FTA if even on their second channel. That would give four possible night slots across the weekend. Unless one has Foxtel you can almost forget seeing an interstate team play on FTA in Melbourne which really doesn't help the feeling of a national competition.
  14. VFL remember someone getting rubbed out in the VFL and because of the VFL bye they were out of AFL contention for another week
  15. Just looking at the Pies forum on Big Footy... dreaming of what might have been Anyway one Collingwood poster posted that he received tickets notwithstanding that he was in category 3 of the ballot: Another posted that each competing club was allocated 17,500 tickets: "Bit of advice appreciated. I registered for Priority2 and was successful. Didn’t think that P3 had any chance in a ballot but registered seperately for my young son anyway. He was also successful in the ballot. Bad Dad I know Anyway, our seats are virtually at polar opposite ends of the ground (Q3, L4 Row C and Q34, L4 Row DD). Obviously not an option for us to sit sperately. Anyone got any suggestions on how we could sit/stand together? I apologise for my first world problem and don’t want to appear insensitive to those who can’t get a ticket." https://www.bigfooty.com/forum/threads/gf-tickets-wanted-for-sale-trade-swap-please-read-op-for-legals.1205302/page-10
  16. A low first rounder I would have thought if not a couple of players as well.
  17. could it be the precursor to the Apocalypse... Did I hear those horses being saddled up ?
  18. Must admit I was thinking the same as LH but Redleg's comments makes sense. Here's an extract from the AFL site: http://www.afl.com.au/news/2018-06-13/boost-for-kolodjashnij-in-concussion-struggle After the above article from June he has played 4 games so he's not been a "required player" in a struggling side. Was he injured again? A step up on Balic but has a similar feel. As others have mentioned a possible Lewis replacement. Would be great to see a fairy tale ending
  19. Believe me it's been tried but it doesn't work. The more juicy possibility though is selling your image/marketing rights to an offshore entity. Works well for the big multi international soccer stars Trouble is the AFL rules are a little tough there and other than for a very few there's not much money in marketing for AFL players. A family member as your diary keeper etc is a common dodge but it's small beer.
  20. a digression but can you be drafted by an NFL club outside the college system? If so why do the top players play for nothing for three years. Many of the "name" basketballers now seem to bypass College. Thanks
  21. The debate there will be about how much of his salary we need to pay. Amazing drop in form.
  22. the last thing we need is another forward unless you are suggesting some further trades. Not saying I like it but.... Lynch to us in return for the salary cap freed up by trading out Hogan Weideman to Pies for their first rounder and perhaps a back up player Two low first rounders for Hogan etc etc That is what trading is really about if you have the cards ?
  23. if Hogan can demand $1.2M and Lynch $1.4m per year what are the rest worth. hell gaff is commanding $1M plus. Check out Cameron by the way there's a west wind coming PS: If Cox doesn't fire big time I can assure you Pies will offer $1M x5 or more for the Weid end of next year
  24. Santa Claus is a myth but don't tell anyone. Club loyalty is dying as well. These players have 10 years top to deliver what should set them up for the rest of their lives if they are good enough.
  25. One million.... that's the currency for a modern key forward. Riewodlt took a million dollar pay cut (250k times 4 for example) so they could draft Lynch at 1.2M p.a plus... (think again)
