Round 1 Crowd Prediction
agree.. maybe 2-3k and that is why I think just on 40k. If you recall the GWS game was on the back of us making the finals etc so it probably saw a fair few of the armchair supporters etc. If we got 45k it would be a wonderful result but I can't see it happening. 35k would be the pass mark

Round 1 Crowd Prediction
we got 37k against GWS for the last game in 2018. Would expect a similar crowd. Port could have some travelling supporters so we may break the 40k barrier

Round 1 Non MFC games
As you say ....analysis is the key Martin was okay but he was tackled and his impact was limited

PREGAME: Rd 01 vs Port Adelaide
But Ms Hobbins said Port Adelaide's game day team — not computer algorithms — would be responsible for selecting couples. What more can one say... what possibly could go wrong

Round 1 Non MFC games
Look on the bright side... it could stop the Carlton membership run and give us a chance of getting somewhere near them. 32-1 almost quarter time... another yawn fest

PREGAME: Rd 01 vs Port Adelaide
must agree.. Wagner surprises me ...ok but not a world beater Memories of Corey Maynard's selection. Hore... know very little about him Hunt... hasn't had a good game for over a year The practice game for Casey could be very important for a few players Fingers crossed we get through the next few weeks with wins and then get a stable team

What will be a Pass for Us this Season?
Might sound harsh but to me the pass mark is the Flag. We have the list and and we have the coach. Chances like this do not come along too often. If we don't win I'll be disappointed and looking for reasons. If those reasons are acceptable then it will be a pass. What would definitely be a failure is to have blowout losses in the final game like last year and like our two GF's in 1988 and 2000. If I sound too harsh ..have a think about Richmond in 2018... I am sure many of their supporters considered the year a failure. Same with GWS. These chances are for the taking and it's about time we took that chance.

PREGAME: Rd 01 vs Port Adelaide
Preuss was recruited for games such as the one against Port where they play two ruckmen. Predicted temp is 29 degrees. Will Preuss play.... I have no idea. I think the selection committee would love to play him but I also suspect they have doubts about his ability. If Preuss doesn't play it means Weideman is the relief ruckman against a specialist ruck. The other scenario is that our midfield set up for losing the ruck duel when Max is not there and you just play a big body (who??). This seems to work for many teams.

PREGAME: Rd 01 vs Port Adelaide
Agree... Brisbane showed that we are not great as yet in the area of speed and stamina. 29 degrees with a possible thunderstorm........ not the best footy weather My MFCSS is at full alert

Round 1 Non MFC games
Unfortunately the history of the MFC does not support that outcome but I'm willing to experience it for the first time in my life

Round 1 Non MFC games
just wondering what people would wish for out of this round. Should we go for the breakaway concept a la 2016 where the final 8 was pretty well set by the bye round or do we want a close struggle. Will 16 games get fourth position etc. At this point I favour the break away group so I will go with Richmond, Collingwood, MFC, Adelaide and the Eagles. The remaining four games are relatively neutral but I would like to see GWS thrash the Bombers. Dockers v North would have been interesting but without Jesse my interest has waned.

Snicko Tech for Goals
Like the runner, the rule changes, the sign board and AFLX etc... when is the AFL going to learn to trial these concepts for a season or more at VFL , SANFL etc level and then bring them in when the public are on board. Nothing against any one change but we seem to be having them now for changes sake without much forethought. And why not try different things in different leagues. For example VFL could have the 6,6,6 while SANFL could trial reduced interchange etc.

Snicko Tech for Goals

Snicko Tech for Goals

R.I.P Ian Thorogood
As I understand it the youngest player in our 1964 premiership side was Ken Emeslle who at the time was 20. He'll be 75 this year but like Ian and all those other players from that marvellous Demon era they share a special bond.

Big Improvers/Standout New Players
Perhaps the biggest upside player is kolodjahsnij. I have no idea what to expect. He had a good one or two years at the Suns but recent form is plagued by injury. Could he do a Brayshaw and shine...hope so. Time for Petracca to show his skills. Of the others Hunt probably has a fair upside but I'm not holding my breath. On the question of upside I think we saw a big improvement last year in the coaching staff. I think they need to take themselves to that next level as well, especially in the overall area of building a culture of success and respect. That second aspect is vital as we saw with the Australian men's cricket team.

Farewell Jesse Hogan
When I read this excellent article in the Guardian today it made me think of this post. The article is a in depth interview of one of the members of the women's rowing team, Annie Vernon who while expected to take the gold medal at the Beijing Olympics "only"took the silver. She has written a book entitled; Mind Games: Determination, Doubt and Lucky Socks – An Insider’s Guide to the Psychology of Elite Athletes The Guardian article is well worth a read but these couple of paragraphs stood out for me: "Matthew Pinsent, who won rowing gold at four successive Olympic Games, told Vernon that, rather being an unflappable serial winner, he used to wish the van driving him to every major race would crash so he could escape competing. " Vernon has interviewed more than 60 elite athletes, coaches and psychologists from diverse sports to discover how the mind shapes success and failure – while arguing that mental toughness and composure are developed rather than being innate gifts. “The public understand skill development and physical training,” she says. “But they believe elite athletes are born without nerves and with massive confidence. It’s not true. The idea that rugby players are born to run out in front of 80,000 people at Twickenham? Of course they’re not. They learn how to do that. My interviewees all said: ‘You’re absolutely spot on. There’s this misconception that mental skills are there at birth. But they have to be made.’” https://www.theguardian.com/sport/2019/mar/18/annie-vernon-olympic-gb-rowing-silver-interview-donald-mcrae

you can sideload the app onto the PS4 and the xbox as I understand it

Foxtel Sports aka Kayo
Lots of people on Whirlpool complaining about buffering when trying to watch the Sky feed of the Australian GP on Kayo. I suspect that this was Kayo's first big event so it will be interesting to see what happens with the AFL. I assume that because they take the Channel 7 AFL feed when available that many subscribers will watch FTA direct so the number of subscribers taking the Kayo feed will be reduced. For those who are interested Kayo have a voucher offering two months for $5. Here's a link to a voucher code site. Not sure if the code works but good luck. https://www.ozbargain.com.au/deals/kayosports.com.au
