CHANGES: Rd 02 vs Carlton
Agree Weid could play but I very much doubt it. Especially when you consider 16 minute quarters means less call for a relief ruck let alone two. His injury in the second half of last year was unfortunate. Had he played in those inconsequential games we would have all known one way or the other if he could cut it.

So the Weid has been zeroed. Disappointing and heading for the trade table is my guess. We don't have much success with drafting key forwards. If Smith fails he might get a run down back given Petty's injury. We seem to hear little of Baker. Too many changes is my take. Perhaps they are all justified but it signals how poor some have been playing even when they're not playing!!

Weid out perhaps ?? (then again he wasn't in)

While your argument sounds logical five odd years of watching VFL has taught me that VFL form is irrelevant. I would assume that in this day and age the other desirable.... namely match fitness can be obtained in other ways..contact training drills, repeat running etc Bennell has an added risk....the game has changed since he last played...five odd games in four years. Only one way to simulate that and its not at VFL level. Other than Gold Coast we are not going to have an easier opponent for the year.

Coronavirus: AFL & MFC
This season was all about nothing but money...so why not Mind you MFC may not be able to fill their allotted minimum come round 8 onwards

Coronavirus: AFL & MFC
Makes sense No cost in loss of local support and means less if any travel next year. Eddie knows that 2021 is where the money is.

Injury List 2020

Scratch Matches 2020
Remember that anything goes with these matches . It's open to the clubs to swap players, reduce numbers etc etc

Injury List 2020
It's still six players. For us that's great but I suspect we are four absentees above the median level for all clubs

CASEY: 2020 Fixture & News
Other than money the reason advanced for the cessation of the aligned clubs was the isolation issue and the prospect of cross infection etc. between the AFL "bubble" and outside. If community sport is allowed I see little reason for those cross infection rules to continue. Sure one can argue that there is a chance of community infection but the risks are very low to minimal. Unfortunately it will be minimum to zero crowds for the short term at least.

TEAM: Rd 02 vs Carlton
NZ just dropped all social distancing requirements. Which Australian State will be the first to do the same? All games in WA perhaps??

WELCOME TO THE MELBOURNE FOOTBALL CLUB - HARLEY BENNELL
Travis made time stand still when on song. His ability to swerve and thus find space followed by perfect delivery was something to watch.

MFCSS tempers any excitement. Even if he has six decent games we'll all be wondering if a breakdown is just around the corner. More likely a "decent' season and then we are forced to pay over the odds for a 3 year contract .... and we know what happens. Let's hope for some joy

Kick it Clarry
There seems to some anecdotal evidence to that affect. Would be interesting to see his handballs to free up a player. One also needs to remember when comparing him with Diesel Williams that 30 possessions a game is now extremely common for a midfielder. The new measure for outstanding is closer to 40. Both with Gawn and Oliver the coaching staff need to devise tactics to leverage their skills

Development failure.... the player was solid gold See Travis Johnstone Dustin Martin was a way harder challenge

Could be ... I would be favouring a chateauneuf du pape to accompany the repast... (suitably disguised in a retro thermos of course.)

Training Ground?
It was definitely worth a look and was probably a better location than Docklands. Summer cricket, local council and the incumbent club spring to mind as possible issues along with limited room for expansion and cost of the land.On the other hand much more realistic than the Jolimont Park plan and deserves to be considered notwithstanding the blinkered views of our Board.

MATCH SIM: Saturday 6th June 2020
Agree unless Weideman can contribute, our forward structure is questionable. Why he was played in the ruck again is a puzzle. Sure it gives him a chance to get the ball but rucking is not what he is paid for.

Weideman rucking according to the AFL report. Not promising. Did Preuss play?

In the link below there are shots of a match sim at Casey. It clearly shows a large development on the fifty metre line at the Berwick end. Anyone have some details?

Richo Impressed By Goodwin
The measure of a good coach surely is the maximisation of the talent of his list by various means including gameplans etc. Can anyone really say that Goodwin has done that? Let's not forget the final round of 2017 which in its own way showed us the measure of this coach. 2018 was a six odd game streak coinciding with amazing not to be repeated form of Brayshaw. The next four games will tell us but let's not forget the Board who I have no love for has said that finals in 2020 is a must.
