Must say I like the jaguar symbol on the back of our jumper. Most of the car logos are rather nondescript. Took me years to work out who SEW were on the back of the hawks jumper.

Hopefully Carlton can knock over GWS next week but I doubt it.

Clear free kick to Betts that would have put the Blues in front and then 3 quick goals to the Pies and game over. Both teams were substandard Casboult particularly disappointing

If it's not West Coast in Perth it is Richmond or Geelong or less likely Port or Brisbane at their home grounds. Finishing 8th would be a nightmare whichever way you look at it.

Reminds me of Lewis last year. His place is there for the taking but by whom. Personally I think AVB and to a lesser extent Melksham are bigger worries.

The next two games are in a way irrelevant. Sure we have to win them and we should do so. Lose and we just aren't good enough. The key is putting together a competent team. The one that played last night did their job in the context of the match but they won't take us far. Bennell has to come in simply because he is the one potentially class player we have. I like Rivers but I think Pickett needs a couple of weeks off. The Jetta position needs to be resolved and I doubt that Wagner is the answer. Would love to know exactly where Jackson is but I think we need to settle on our third big man...MacDonald, Brown or Preuss. None excite but we need one. The other key to going anywhere this year is leveraging our ruck domination. Would like to see Gawn take the ball out of the ruck from time to time as well as belt it forward

Blues v Pies is a big match. Conservatism says the better result for MFC is a Pies win with Blues then falling away. My desire is for a Pies loss so we stand a chance of jumping to 7th by season end. Eighth is quite likely to face West Coast in Perth in the first round of the finals. It also opens up the possibility of Pies dropping out of the 8 thus putting two spots up for grabs. Including ourselves that will mean there are still 5 teams* fighting for those two places. I have excluded Footscray but you could make a case for their inclusion as well. * Collingwood, MFC, GWS, Essendon and Carlton

Saints kicking for goal keeping us ahead. You know they can score quickly Time to put some scores on the board And there they go............
-
Dramatic turn around in the number of possessions during that term at around the ten minute mark we were about ten down and we finished the quarter 11 up
-
and you expected something else?
-
Looking increasingly likely that a team will need 10 wins or in the case of Collingwood 9.5 to make the 8
-
Giants have a very winnable run home. They ooze class but cannot quite click... watch out if they do If the Blues lose tomorrow you would fancy the giants to take the last spot in the 8.

No idea but it does seem to be a massive over reaction which makes you wonder. No secret that teams and coaching staff are under abnormal pressures while in these hubs. Have a look at Hardwick's outbursts which some are saying are occurring because Balme is not there to provide that mature voice.

This will be a classic rebound loss to the Saints. Gawn to our mids... bomb to our 35 and then like the proverbial sling shot back it comes to a loose Saints forward. Goodwin knows no other way Spargo and KP are not exactly forwards capable of locking the ball in.

Very interesting article. Deals in depth with blocking as a tactic https://www.abc.net.au/news/2020-08-27/secret-to-attacking-success-in-the-afl/12596422 Forwards now lead at a variety of angles instead of simply straight ahead, forcing backmen to cover more ground within their defensive 50. And the defender's job is becoming ever harder due to the rising prevalence of another tactic: blocking.

Most of the time that you hear of a club suspending a player it is for a relatively serious infraction. This just does not play right for me

The idea that we had NT support was always a furphy

Made me feel dirty...but thank heaven

I was trying to set this selection to music. The best I could come up with was "Strange Days" by the Doors. Wikipedia's summing up of the critical response to the album of the same name has particular resonance. Especially the last sentence. Music critic Robert Christgau called the album "muscular but misshapen" in a May 1968 column for Esquire, but went on to write that The Doors had come "from nowhere to reign as America's heaviest group".[18] Rolling Stone opined that the album "has all the power and energy of the first LP, but is more subtle, more intricate and much more effective" and argued that the "whole album, individual songs and especially the final track are constructed in the five parts of tragedy. Like Greek drama, you know when the music's over because there is catharsis."

Anybody getting the sinking feeling that the wheels are falling off this team of ours

https://www.sen.com.au/news/2020/08/28/melbourne-forward-dropped-after-missing-start-of-training/ “Bayley Fritsch was late to the captain’s run and is going to be dropped this week. He didn’t break COVID rules and Melbourne is stressing that. “How does that happen in the hub? They’re in Maroochydore, he’s not on the bus so you’d think he’d be noticed. “That is a tough, tough line to take. Bayley Fritsch is out of the Melbourne game due to tardiness and won’t play (on Saturday).” Not sure who is the dumbest but as a club we are dumb !!!

WC could end up 5th... with us at 8th Guess where the match would be played

The Bombers are back... yuk The Age Just stunning. Essendon come from six goals down to win by 16 points and keep their finals hopes alive. And it was on the back of a magnificent three-goal return showing from Joe Daniher, who delivered all that was promised and much more.

nothing worse than a Bomber comeback come on Hawks
