First time for being in Australia for the Olympics for a while. I had forgotten how cringeworthingly Aussie centric the FTA commentary can be.

ATAGI have just changed their advice (again) All people in NSW over the age of 18 should consider getting AZ https://www.health.gov.au/news/atagi-statement-response-to-nsw-covid-19-outbreak-24th-july-2021 "A second reason for ATAGI to recommend that individuals strongly consider vaccination at this time is emerging data about severity of disease. The Delta variant may be more severe than the original SARS-CoV-2 strain. The proportion of people less than 60 years requiring hospitalisation appears to be higher than was reported in outbreaks with the original SARS-CoV-2 strain. This reinforces the benefit of protection with any available vaccine."

If the news report is correct that Pendlebury has a broken leg that could be the end of a great career. Amazingly consistent contributor. I suspect he would make a good line coach if he decides to go that way.

opeing ceremony at 9 so I assume the ratings will drop to nothing for the footy Interesting time shift for the swimming Heats are now during the night (9pm) and finals during the day (10:30am Melbourne time)... Television into the Northern hemisphere one assumes

they need to clearly disclose the sound enhancements for every match. Amazing that a crowd of 10k can sound like a 40k crowd. They're doing it with the Olympics coverage as well. Last year it was a novelty now it's a gimmick
-
Use the pre finals bye to move all finalists to WA and play them there. If another State is"clean" you can move a game there from WA if economics dictate. The problem with Vic is that some if not all finals could easily be no crowds. I suppose you could then just pause and do 10 days quarantine in Tas or WA. I'm beyond caring as my next overseas trip is fast disappearing into 2023

You're falling into Gladys' trap. Nothing like finding an enemy to unite against. In this case it's the other States. Queensland has mastered the art. The Pfizer roll out in excess of vulnerables etc in most States is minimal. Little real impact on Vic etc in sending September excess supplies to Sydney. (we retain the Pfizer necessary for heath workers vulnerable etc) If it was October you would have a point as the "excess" should be very impactful.

7 weeks or thereabouts to GF. No way Vic goes 7 weeks without another breakout.. Big vax deliveries start at the earliest during the Finals series so they won't save us.
-
Frankly I'd prefer anywhere to Queensland. Tasmania perhaps... the perfect neutral venue in a year that Hawks and Roos are an impossibility
-
This is our best 22 sure you can discuss Melksham, Jones and AVB but outside those there's little else. Not sure they will deliver Saturday but will they deliver over the next 6 weeks
-
Harmes is a definite improvement over AVB but would have liked to see Melksham as well
-
Dogs refused to attack through the corridor last time we played. Constantly used slow boundary line play. Will they do the same again.
-
Add to that the at best hybrid season that at least the first 6 months of 2022 will be. ( vax certificates, masks, distancing etc) and revenues are shattered. Take care OD and enjoy that monopoly game with your grand daughter. Can be a very competitive game as we all know
-
Rumour is that the players from the two Adelaide clubs were told to pack for 5 weeks. One can just feel that Vic can't go through the next 7-8 weeks without another breakout...can Queensland?
-
Agree The families of the Sydney teams are relocating to Qld today. They are required to do 14 days quarantine. This would not even be considered if they thought the teams might return to Sydney in the next 5-6 weeks.

the outdoor food vans are controlled by the Council not the MCC. The MCC has been trying to get rid of them for years as they compete with their ground caterers. Never really thought of them as choke points. If they are mixing points then they could have a QR code. The outdoor smoking areas are probably a greater risk PS: Sorry thought the restriction was on food etc outside the stadium. See that it's inside the stadium.
-
South Australia having a small outbreak. Relatively minor restrictions at present but as we know these could grow.

Your parents story is so typical Lord Nev. We had months last year to build a national vaccination register which with the use of computers, spread maps etc could have driven the roll out. Instead we got a system where in the main it was everyone for themselves. Malaysia uses a registration app. You just register with age, medical condition, location and when its your turn you are sent an appointment. Stacks of transport volounteers etc. Malaysia with its population similar to ours is giving near 500k jabs per day. (Pity that until now it's been mainly the Chinese Sinovac. )

As our old friend Gomer Pyle would say.... "Surprise, Surprise" They now think the recent stadium transmissions might have occurred in the queues trying to get into the stadiums. [At AAMI Park] if we’ve got individuals who were not seated together and there’s no evidence that they’ve attended a food venue together either ... We think it’s a pinch point going into the stadium outdoors. “Outdoor transmission, it’s a much, much lower risk, but it happens and we have to really look at the public events framework and how we help manage that as we kick off public events down the track. 2004 top of the ladder was one week and it came with an increasing injury toll. Very different to this season but the concept that glory is fleeting is a good one.
