  1. what's a corridor asks the coach
  2. out coached who'd have thought that a shoot out when you don't have a gun is a good idea
  3. when Gunston gets a goal you kind of know where this game is going
  4. an old fashioned shoot out... wonder who will win
  5. Grundy reaction...........
  6. 50k expected for tonight's friendly between the Matildas and France at Docklands Live TV on 10 Bold
  7. Used to think the same myself until I realised a few years back... they don't really want bigger crowds.... as increased crowds mean extra facilities (toilets etc), more ground security etc. Some grounds like Punt Rd are aggressively anti-crowds with narrow viewing space and blocked off areas. Port and Box Hill are a nice balance with grassed hills and old style grandstands Agree though it is an enjoyable day with a little winter sunshine
  8. Think it's only 3 in season plus the weird finals which gives another bye. This is the system that the AFL clubs wanted... why... I've no idea If you want to involve non AFL sides I favour a conference system including SA and WA. Allow for a few cross conference games if the budget allows. Finals could be cross conference (8 highest teams) or intra conference with the two conference winners playing off. Perhaps GF to be played in Adelaide or Perth where I think the locals and the State Government would pump some money in
  9. Good points if we were performing but at the moment the engine is just turning over. Coach to the present team not the one you dream of is my thoughts. Strangely enough against the Saints I thought we were too conservative. There were 2 occasions where we got 2/3 goals up where a bit of fast play might have put the game to bed far earlier. Saints however especially down 3 key players are not Brisbane
  10. Nah everyone watches the big screen or their phone Binoculars are for Boomers 😉
  11. Stupid me thought we would occasionally use them both as part of the kick out strategy with one either side or similar but we didn't even try that.
  12. A decent example to start the thinking.. I thought Lobb said on leaving the West he didn't want to ruck
  13. This will be "won" in the coaching box. Our only chance is to make it a low scoring maul. (8 goals apiece or thereabouts) Win is great but we also need to protect our percentage buffer. Get into a shootout and Brisbane could take us apart.
  14. For those who worry about the view across the track there are now tracks where the far side cannot be seen from the stands and you simply watch the big screen. How many racegoers really see the far side these days?
  15. Trade while he has strong value. We'd get our money back effectively. The only alternative is bye Max which no one wants and we must not do. Recruit utility forward relief ruck at mediium cost (a younger TMac) and hopefully get seasons 24 and 25 out of Max. Fast track Verral in 24 for use in 25 The present set up won't work and we are paying big money for the combo even with Pie's contribution
  16. Seven out for Port in their game against the Blues The rest period has started
  17. Thanks Kev a great info source Looks like only Canada at Olympic Park. Morocco at Werribee and Jamaica at the State soccer centre in Northcote. I assume Olympic Park and the rectangular stadium are different venues PS can you imagine playing soccer in Dunedin in July It makes Hobart look tropical !!!
  18. Not interested in him but very interested in what approach Eagles will use to get out of their present doldrums. My guess is that the Eagles Board will have set finals in three years as the minimum measure. Like Geelong they are not used to losing year after year. Trade season could be very lively this year
  19. way too much like the canned applause that we suffered through covid. Was not a fan... but I understand your thought process Perhaps on Friday night I should just put Take me Home Country Road on perpetual repeat... now that would be torture
  20. I think they would do the salary deal (it's only for one year) but pick would need to be in the 20-30 range Eagles also have to make big calls on McGovern and Natanui Hard to understand why they weren't more interested in Luke Jackson last year
  21. With the KP capacity being 40k from Round 1 next year ... now ... is the time to be lobbying. The added question is why Geelong may still play 3 rounds at the MCG It was marketed as supporting their Melbourne base but why not make 2 or even 3 at Docklands The 3 perennial highway travelling clubs would have the support of the interstate clubs (9 votes) to introduce a random element to which teams play at Geelong
  22. Gaff has got another year of his $1M a year approx deal to go. Will be interesting if WCE give away a pick rather than take a salary dump of around $400k
  23. Watched the Scottish FA cup between Celtic and whoever a month or so ago. They had problems with the sound for the first half on kayo so I only got crowd noise. Magnificent way to watch a game Unfortunately the commentary came back in the second half but even so they were far less intrusive than channel 7
  24. Thanks for that In his week at Casey I was disappointed they didn't give him a half either forward or more central. We never seem to think out of the box at Casey as players are continually pigeon holed. Another example might be Howes forward as he has the makings of a reliable back up player at either end
  25. strangely enough it cold be our saviour but none predicted Can we keep the lions to less than 8:12 because 10 goals is our maximum
