Good luck to young Verrall on his return from injury - hopefully gets through the game and starts building some good form

My 3 word player analysis V Collingwood
Pickett is struggling atm there is no doubt about that - he is still however doing what he is asked to do and that is pressure the opposition in our F50 and he is still on track to potentially get 40 plus goals this season. I'm confident he will come good and start impacting more on the scoreboard as the season rolls on. Suggesting he is one of the most overrated players in the league is way OTT. 40 plus goals in 2021, 2022, and could still get there this year is extremely good from a small forward. Small forwards that you can compare Cody Weightman (never kicked 40 plus goals in a season) Izak Rankine (never kicked 40 plus goals in a season) Jamie Elliott (never kicked 40 plus goals in a season) Shai Bolton (he's done it once) Jack Higgins (never kicked 40 plus goals in a season) Tom Papley (he's done it once)

Some of his MOTY attempts recently have been totally unrealistic IMO. I'm not wanting him to stop trying to take big marks - his flair is exciting and brings people to the game but flying in a pack of giants is not what he is there to do - in those situations he should be positioning himself in a dangerous position to pick up the inevitable spoilt ball.

JvR is the Round 12 Rising Star …
Hope you are right - tbh I'm struggling to see it myself.

My 3 word player analysis V Collingwood
The effort was there from Trac as it always is but his kicking was very poor. Disposal efficiency of 50% is not what he would consider acceptable - mind you Pickett was 33% - he does need to lift I'm still surprised they subbed Spargo before him

Great effort from all the boys - sheer will to win was what got us across the line plus some shrewd defensive coaching well executed by all the players. Our kicking was very poor still IMO - goalkicking was abysmal and field kicking generally was not great either. The best part is that we can certainly improve and have a few very key players to return from injury. Also, big shout out to all the demon faithful who turned out and made some noise - well done. Interesting that Goody highlighted just how important that is for the team. Hopefully we can keep that passion going for all games.

He shouldn't be given a promotion until he can deliver some sort of pressure on opposition backs intercept marking and chasing/tackling. There is no room at AFL level for players that don't or simply can't do the team things. If you watch the Casey game from this week you would love to be a defender running off our key forwards - virtually zero pressure from BBB and Jefferson who I can excuse to some extent given he is in year one and very raw

Good thing about him is he is a very reliable kick for goal we could use a bit of that skill atm - not sure who he’d replace though

Would be better than Harmes on current form and he will be suspended anyway I suspect

He gets another chance today to prove something - let’s see if he’s ready to earn a recall I’d say Darcy Moore would absolutely lick his chops at the thought of out positioning and running off BBB particularly with our kicking into the F50 Defensively we were much improved last night and that is the cornerstone of our system - if you don’t understand that yet perhaps your not listening to the coach or players. BBB is playing VFL because he is poor defensively

PREGAME: Rd 12 vs Carlton
I'm curious - have you watched any of the VFL games that BBB has been "playing well" in? His performance last week against Werribee was an improvement but still not great. He isn't in the AFL team because he allows opposition defenders to intercept mark too often and is easily out positioned by key defenders. When the ball is on the ground, unfortunately he doesn't seem capable of applying tackling or chasing pressure. These are non-negotiables if you want to get a game in an AFL forward line and it's the reason we have to play a 20 yo JVR atm because at least he competes hard in every contest. I'm perplexed by the weekly commentary about a number of players at Casey that should be promoted when the reality is that as a team their form is just ok but not great and individually many just don't warrant promotion. This includes Howes, Laurie and Woewodin. I'm not suggesting they will never play AFL football simply that atm their form is not consistent or at a high enough level to justify promotion. I agree Turner is one player that could be promoted if the opposition called for another tallish intercept defender - this week may be another chance for him. Our Casey team is where we develop our youngsters and where we play senior players back into some form - we shouldn't be doing that in the AFL squad IMO.

Collingwood forward Ash Johnson
Better contested mark than any of our forwards IMO

Yes, I felt exactly the same way about that bloke Luke Jackson - ultimately the players decide.

Just saw an interview with his manager Trac's younger brother Julian Petracca - boy he looks like Trac, sounds like Trac I just wonder if that connection helps at all. Assume it couldn't hurt if young Ash was to look elsewhere. Sounds like they are looking for a longer-term commitment.
