The club's decision to put players on long-term contracts has been vindicated this week.

"Aye, fight and you may die. Run and you'll live, at least a while. And dying in your beds many years from now, would you be willing to trade all the days from this day to that for one chance, just one chance to come back here and tell our enemies that they may take our lives, but they'll never take our freedom!" Max Gawn is our Brave Heart. Red and Blue. We will win another premiership because we happen to have the most remarkable people playing all at the same time: Gawn, Petracca, Oliver, May and Lever (apologies to to all the awesome others) and the leadership (shout out to you JV and our coach SG) that will make it happen. Imagine how you'd feel if you were told that your team which finished with 11/23 wins had just recruited Petracca and Oliver. Welcome 2025.

Timing is everything. The man is class by every definition. Love you Max.

Pefect! Hopefully two of WB, Haw and Car lose so ... Home game next week vs the Pies when they need to win to make Top8. And we spoil the dream ...
-
This is an awesome game

Though it hurts to type this, I SO want Collingwood to win. They will have a sniff, think all they need to do is sneak into the finals etc Then they will meet the DEMONS. It'd be a big game and beating them would be magnificent. C'mon Pies.

Earlier today I thought BBB might get a final goodbye game after kicking 6 in the VFL. After this afternoon's result I'm not sure there's a spot for him - perhaps as sub? But given we probably have to replace Sparrow, it's not exactly like for like. I must admit that I have a fantasy of Benny coming on at the 10 min mark of the last quarter and kicking the goal after the siren to beat the Filth. Nonetheless, it will definately be Nibblers last game. It would also be good to get some clarity on Melksham and McDonald too because they both deserve good send-offs if this is their last game (though tbc I think they should both get 1 more year).
-
and I think over the week it became abundantly clear that A grade players (eg Houston) are far more likely to come to our club if we have a winning culture and are competitive, and will not want to come if we're not. A win over the Filth next week will help us more than a loss even if it costs a place or 2 in the draft.
-
I was thinking exactly that.
-
I admit it's too hard. I'm instinctively baracking for the Swans
-
This will be hard, but I actually want Collingwood to win tonight: 1/ Sydney losing really opens up the comp to "anyone can win" (sadly, not us) 2/ More importantly, I want Pies fans to think they're a chance and for us to destroy their dreams in the last round when we waste them. 3/ Point 2 relies on is winning in the last round.
-
I did some analysis of our chances of making the 8 and came up with 5% if we win this week, and 0.25% chance if we lose (and then win the last 2). Unleash the Jeffo.
-
I'm on the Jeffo bandwagon. Don't exaggerate expectations and instead let's guarantee him 3 games so we can have a good look and he can be comfortable. We definitely should have a look at him before trade period when we might make moves on Waterman or Houston.
-
I am so hoping for the Pies to win the next two and have a chance only for us to snuff it. Would probably require a Sat game to make it a possibility.

This not like the movies. The AFL were wide awake when they chose Katy Perry and there's a part of me that wants to see her too. It really depends who you love to listen to. IMHO she will be a teenage dream. My daughter was watching her last Friday night and actually thought she was a dark horse for the job even if she's can sometimes be hot 'n cold. I think the roar of the crowd will be huge when she sings. BTW Did I tell you I kissed a girl and I think she liked it?
-
We'll drop behind WB if they win and we don't. Even if we win tomorrow, the Cats will still (probably) be ahead of us on %. Would suit us to be a 1pt win to the Cats.
-
was thinking the same ...
-
We would get the home game against Freo and the away game against Hawks. Freo's home game would be against the Hawks. The highest rank team always gets its home game against the second highest rank team in the pool. I think that's fairest. (Although having the highest rank team choosing is an intriguing idea)

Can't work out what result I want in the GWS vs GCS game. I've setted on hoping for an all-in brawl that results in 10 players from each side receiving 4 week suspensions.
-
BCFS (cool idea for a name @Demonstone) pros: has 12 games versus the current 9 games and the proposed wildcard version which has 11 games. If your team makes the finals you get to see them at home while the system still advantages the teams that finish higher on the ladder (through pool seedings, and 2nd chance & home teams for Prelims) it provides a more realistic opportunity for any team in the Top9. This is important particularly with an uneven H&A draw. Wildcard proposal is a pile of crop IMHO and having more teams in the finals then not in the finals, sucks big time.

No, it would be five weeks with each team getting 1 bye during the finals. There would be three games in the first three weeks, 2 in the 4th week (Prelims) and the GF in the fifth week. No pre-finals bye, so it's the same length. Pool A (1,6,7) Pool B (2,5,8) Pool C (3,4,9) Week 1: Qualifying Finals 6v7 (1 gets a bye), 5v8 (2 gets a bye), 4v9 (3 gets a bye) Weeks 2 and 3 are Pool A: 7v1 and 1v6, Pool B: 8v2 and 2v5 Pool C: 9v3 and 3v4 Week 4: Prelims Week 5: GF (to ensure no dead rubbers, the winner of the first week plays their second game in the third week.*) *eg if 6 beats 7, then the next week it's 7v1 and the 3rd week is 1v6. If 7 beats 1 then the next week will be 1v6 and the third week 7v1. This way the result of the game in the third week will always determine the pool winner [Note on prelims: Pool winners qualify for Prelim along with highest ranked 2nd place getter. If teams 1,2 and 4 win their pools and 3 comes second in their pool, the Prelims would be: 1 v 3 and 2 v 4 If teams 1,5,3 won their pools, but team 2 came 3rd in their pool and 4 came second in theirs, the prelims would be: 1 v 4 and 3 v 5]
-
Top 9 (once we have Tassie) Split into 3 pools of 3 Each team plays the 2 other teams in their pool (1 x Home and 1 x away) Top of each pool goes to Prelim (seeded by H&A ladder position) Last spot in Prelim goes to the team with the highest H&A ladder position of the teams that finish 2nd in their pool

He'd make a handy sub. Imagine bringing him on at 3/4 time.
-
He seemed to be really running hard. Like you, I think he's a keeper. How good would it be to have Viney, Brown, Woewoden, Yze and White all in the same team?
