  1. Agreed. My post was somewhat tongue-in-cheek saying that if TMc goes chasing big coin and mfc just say: take it or leave it and he declines to accept our offer. Then we have to make the most of the inevitable trade.
  2. Yep, I'll take GC's 2016 1st round pick in return...top 5 pick. Even get back our own 2016 1st rounder we traded away...around pick 10 (allowing for Academy picks)! Ok I'm dreaming! TMc swap for Prestia. Ok I'm still dreaming! If this is a game of brinkmanship I don't think it will be the club that blinks! We have become very good poker players!!
  3. Setting aside the morality of poker machines, what makes this 'pokie profits' story more appalling is that AFL clubs namely, Carlton, Hawthorn and Collingwood are syphoning the profit that is supposed to go back into the local community, to their own benefit - the example given was Carlton improving facilities at their own club grounds. It is not illegal as the problem is the way the law is worded but nonetheless it is against the 'spirit' of the agreements and the AFL should read them the riot act. I hope MFC is not doing the same with profits.
  4. Nascent, It has popped up a number of times on my Samsung phone over the last few months. It substitutes 'Samsung' for 'Sony' on your message. Interestingly, the first few times were in Europe on the TIM (Italy's equivalent to Telstra) network and more recently in Australia on Amaysim(Optus?) network. Don't know if that is relevant at all Sometimes it is mighty stubborn to shut down. Maybe it just attacks Android devices...
  5. SEN reporting that Port and MFC were quite happy to keep the Alice game. Apparently the NT Minister is going to take that game away and just leave the Darwin game. They will give MFC b/w $1.0m and $1.3m to put back into the community. Apparently Alice not too happy. Apparently will get political! While I prefer we don't sell any games to anywhere, we need to remember that NT will be our designated Multicultural Academy so we will need to invest in that area one way or another. That is going to cost money so this is one way of funding it. It also means one less game in NT (hopefully back to the MCG)!
  6. The 'general' will be H. He seems to be our forgotten defender with posters. He will be back as soon as he recovers and gets some match fitness at Casey. H may not be the most favoured on DL but is well suited to the 'general' role.
  7. My bad. Will fix post. My overall sentiment in the post re signing priorities still holds.
  8. To be honest I'm not all that fussed about the status of TMc's contract. TMc can wait as long as he likes. Of the 12 OOC this year, the most important re-signing are: Watts and Jetta. Would like to see them signed ASAP! Then worry about the next string of players: TMc, O'Mc, Kent, Frost, MJones etc etc Edit: removed Tyson from 2016 OOC players.
  9. Deliberate. High. Behind play, Medium force- bowled him off his feet and took a while to get up. We should appeal!! Jesting but surely Ceglar should get more than 1 week.
  10. Just for the record the umpire that gave Stewart the free was Jordan Bannister not Pannell. He tweeted his mia culpa and has now been rapped over the knuckles by the Umpire's Coach for the tweet! "We do make a fair few mistakes each week, so we don't want the (umpires) every time we make a mistake to tweet out that 'I apologise'. Speechless!
  11. Perfect weather next Monday, od Monday. Mostly sunny. Min: 5°C Max: 14°C Thermos and blanket will come in handy Come and enjoy a victory!
  12. Funny you should mention Collingwood supporters ET. Crowd was only 28,500 yesterday. Home game at the G and coming off a great game vs Geelong and a friendly 1.10 time slot. Don't know what their supposed 75,000 members do when their team plays at the 'G'. Fair weather fans! They probably won't show up on QB Monday either! Mores the pity for our gate revenue.
  13. Pontsford stand, 1st level, behind the AFL members side point post - bird's eye view for 1/2 the game. I saw Oscar do a lot of contested work: spoils, 2nd efforts etc. It wasn't a day for marking so won't hang him for not getting many. Maybe he was good in the 2nd and 4th qtr at Ponstford end and bad at your end... Anyway, I'm over this to and fro. I know you like to have the last word so post away and I'll let them go thru to the keeper...
  14. Stuie and bb - were you at the game? And if so in which part of the ground were you located?
  15. It is so frustrating that people won't see what is staring them in the face, H-T! I suspect the majority criticising Oscar were not at the game. Maybe the TV camera's didn't capture his work rate for those that watched on TV. But probably they are just being stubborn and now that Jack Watts is playing well Oscar is the new whipping boy who can do no right. Will be delighted to see those KBW come back here and praise Oscar (as they now do JW) in due course. I hope he stays in the team - his performance shows he deserves it.
  16. For those criticising Oscar this is from the mfc website vs Hawks: "Big O building - In just his sixth AFL match, 20-year-old emerging defender Oscar McDonald had a personal-best 22 disposals – Melbourne’s fourth highest ball-winner for the match". If I recall his DE was 70% - yes I know DE isn't everything but 70% sure ain't bad when your disposal is 4th highest for the team (behind only our 3 best mids) and it is only your 6th game. Add to that his smothers and spoils. All against the reigning Premiers. Not only that he plays to the coaches game plan!! What else do people want? He is more than holding his own. Doubt those in the VFL that are being touted here as replacements can boast that overall performance.
  17. Daniher last year walking to the G, proudly wearing Demons scarf: Heart Beats True! http://www.afl.com.au/news/2016-06-05/neale-daniher-reveals-hes-beating-the-odds-in-fight-against-mnd?utm_source=feedburner&utm_medium=feed&utm_campaign=RSS+feed%3A+AFL+Latest+News Saw the program last night. Some emotional moments. He is an incredible realist. Quite poignant when he said: MND always wins. Daniher's MND legacy is far greater than his football achievements. Both testament to an amazing person. Up there with another of our Demon heroes that faced his illness and his fate with generosity, courage and humour, Jim Stynes.
  18. Should be an interesting game! Leaky zone defence vs leaky zone defence? Whoever gets out the back most, wins! Port scored umpteen goals (7 uncontested from the goal square) by getting out the back of the Pies' zone defence when they went too far up the ground. Exactly, what Port did against us! Except this time it was their small forwards rather than Dixon. So Garlett and Kennedy play. Not sure who goes out of Harmes or Kent...lean towards Kent out - a bit too uncommitted for my liking yesterday.
  19. While statistically it could all change, short of some big surprises: Final 8 is set (but not the order): Port will most probably stay on 9th as Crows have a game and good % over them. We will play it out with Carlton for 10th and 11th. Could come down to rnd 22. The rest are a game and big % behind us. Its rather deflating but the only real intrigue for us now is how many wins and who we will beat!
  20. Port 19.11.125 d Pies 7.16.58. Cloke had a shocker 0.1 Bucks will be ropeable!! I guess next week depends on which Pies team turns up and which Demon team turns up. We would have to go in confident given that we beat them in 2015 and 2016
  21. Our fwds consistently fail to 'put body' (legitimately) on the opponent when going for marks or contesting the 50/50 ball. If it happens it is half-hearted. Fix this 'pressure act' and all the other 'pressure acts' like tackling, 2nd efforts, smothering, knocking the ball down etc would be required less often. Fully compete at the first opportunity should be the mantra for our fwds! This would give our other fwds more opportunity/time to get to the contest. Atm the ball comes out too quickly. More effort required close to goals!
  22. Ingles has seen the error of his ways and apologised! A revised article: http://www.foxsports.com.au/afl/bernie-vince-fires-back-at-australian-nba-player-joe-ingles-on-twitter/news-story/4a182a0b94ffd66e24e7a543c68a0e2d ✔ @Joeingles7 Apologies @bvince23 - I'm just a passionate Hawker who was fired up over your tangle with Smith. Heat of the moment. All good Must have got a lot of heat for his dumb tweet!
  23. How many? 3 missed from the 3 free kicks for ducking into the tackler all dead in front...got what they deserved and nothing to do with competitiveness. How many others? The original question was about score (behinds) differential and competitiveness. Do you have an answer or just prefer to nit pick that of other posters and offer platitudes like 'we should have done better' or 'to(o) many passengers' instead?
  24. I'll try: 1. Not many of Hawk's behinds were missed set shots so not poor kicking by them. 2. There were a number of rushed behinds by our defenders. 3. Many of the behinds credited to a Hawks player were opportunistic off the ground shots. This was a result of the pressure and competitiveness from our (young troupe of) defenders. We guarded the goal square really well and Hunt fearlessly threw himself at everything. The comparison of inside 50 gives an indication of our competitiveness and how close the game really was: Hawks 58, Demons 50. We just couldn't get close enough to our goal square to capitalise with either goals or behinds. Make no mistake we were quite ferocious yesterday.
  25. Some NBA idiot has a go at our Bernie on twitter saying: 'Bernie is garbage'! Loved that Big Tex Walker weighed in to support his mate! http://www.foxsports.com.au/afl/bernie-vince-fires-back-at-australian-nba-player-joe-ingles-on-twitter/news-story/4a182a0b94ffd66e24e7a543c68a0e2d
