Farewell Judd McVee
Can't abide McVee leaving - not just because he is my fave ๐ฅฐ! Did some checking around. He loves the club and the coach. Working on a deal to be announced in the coming month(s). ๐ So relax folks.

It is still not 100% certain if we have an A or a B rookie spot. As I understand the rules he is more likely to qualify as an A-rookie having nominated for but not selected in a National draft. This would enable us to take him as a 'train-on' player and contract him under the SSP rules. afaik the SSP rules don't allow for contracting a B-rookie ... ... the AFL is forever messing with the rules (and not communicating them clearly) and is good at 'exceptions' so who knows ๐คทโโ๏ธ

PRESEASON TRAINING: Monday 2nd December 2024
Thanks all for the great training reports. I especially enjoyed the photos. While they were 'stills' the rapid sequence made the action 'come alive'. It was like being there!

PRESEASON TRAINING: Monday 2nd December 2024
I suspect you are both right. Max said recently the FD Review highlighted a need to develop young leaders. Max will hand over the captaincy in the next year or maybe two and it would be remiss to not have a succession plan for him and other leaders. What is being observed gives the young guys a chance to 'audition' for the leadership positions.

PRESEASON TRAINING & COMMUNITY CAMP
Fair comments, djr. I wasn't referring to your reports which I enjoyed. If my comment offended you I apologise. I wasn't referring to observations per se. It was the conclusions by some re Petracca not posting about the club/teammates on IG, not wearing mfc gear on his IG, caring only about his brand etc etc implying he had 'checked out' or 'didn't care' (paraphrasing). Those trigger the anti-Trac brigade and the off-season stuff is rehashed. djr, shaming others isn't ever my style - if it was I would have quoted them. I just hope we don't spend the year questioning his commitment/behaviour or defending it. If that happens each week I'll be the one checking out, of DL. fwiw, I would feel the same if anyone playing for our beloved demons was discussed that way.

PRESEASON TRAINING & COMMUNITY CAMP
And for all those posters who lamented he didn't look happy at the camp and none of his insta posts had him in demon gear, I'd love them to take a big bite form humble pie: he looks very happy and proud in his demons training gear having fun with teammates.

WELCOME TO DEMONLAND AND THE MFC - Jasmine Garner
Yes, I think I got 12 of the '64 premiership as some had passed away or Couldn't get there. Yes, it is worth trying again. A couple of DL's who know the story have offered to help so I might contact them as well.

Yes, makes plenty of sense, thank you. I get that you โค๏ธ๐ my story and the ๐ is for Gary Pert for being such a ... ... he was never a demon anyway ... no sense of 'documenting' our history albeit on a jersey not in words.

WELCOME TO DEMONLAND AND THE MFC - Jasmine Garner
Hmmmm ... based on my 'optimism' in 2013/14 I could have been a candidate for that 'institution'. It is 2013, Jimmy is very ill, we have no FOJ sponsor so the club puts the Reach logo on. Our BOJ sponsor (Energy Watch) went bust. I bought a jersey as a donation and put number 11 on back. It is 2014. I take the jersey to the 1964 Premiership team reunion at the Bentleigh club and had all those champs from yesteryear sign it. LOL, my idle musing was to have the next Dees premiership players sign to have the premiership 'bookends. Friends laughed and thought that went beyond the eternal optimism of a tragic demon supporter to one that had taken leave of her senses. It is 2021 and we win the Premiership ๐โค๏ธ๐. I had great joy telling those friends my 'senses' were fine! So while it may have seemed 'deranged' in 2013/2014, 2021 proved otherwise. To round off the story. It is 2022. I emailed Gary Pert with the above story and asked if I could pass the never worn with tags, jersey, to Richardson to obtain the Premiership players autographs. (Fans weren't allowed to training). Then I would frame it, hold it for a few years and donate it to the club. Thought it would be a special piece of memorabilia of our history of highs and lows. Sadly, he never even acknowledged the email.๐ข Now the moment is lost as many of the players are elsewhere. ๐ข

Love that comment, Rab. Without opinions there would be no DL! Keep posting!

PRESEASON TRAINING & COMMUNITY CAMP
Thanks for the respectful response, Rab. In terms of legacy as a Demon, Petracca is our NSM in a long long awaited premiership. He scored a perfect score (40/40) of coaches votes for that game. That legacy is good enough for me. Without him we would not have won that flag. Regardless of what happens going forward that legacy will never be tarnished in my eyes. Many players change clubs for various reasons and sometimes it is for more success. It doesn't diminish their legacy at the previous club nor their love for that club or those teammates. I love it when someone is a one-club player like Viney and Gawn I also love B. Brown, Langdon, May and Lever for leaving their first club to help us win a flag. Btw, I've long been curious why you use BP5 not CP5?

PRESEASON TRAINING & COMMUNITY CAMP
Not sure what you mean by 'fortunes'. If its $ the club has made them all wealthy. If it is desire for success (premiership) can't question any of them. If it is giving all they have on the field can't question any of them. If its contract years they all have/have had lengthy contracts which expire within a year or two of each other. There seems to be an implied criticism of Petracca that he is in some way lesser than Viney and Gawn. Maybe spell it out. At the end of the day its a job for all of them.

No Casey training so far. I wonder if it was ditched (or used only when necessary) as part of the FD review and player feedback.
