  1. With Geelong in desperate need of a ruckman and Conway being a local I would be very surprised if he gets past their picks 24, 25, and 35. We would need to pick swap into the mid-high 20's to get him, using our picks 38 and 42 if we wanted him.
  2. Quite true. My post was to update DL on the impact in the AFL. Only an infected person has to isolate. Close contacts isolate only until they receive a negative result. Hence why Voss and McPherson weren't at the draft last night. In due course all clubs will have someone test positive. Clubs will have to take extra precautions at training to ensure a player who subsequently tests positive doesn't spread it to other players. At the moment it is off season so minimal close contacts/risk of spreading in the playing group.
  3. Has anyone found an updated draft order listing? Still can't see one on the AFL website... My guess is we now have picks 38, 42 and 50 which will become 49 after Saints match an NGA bid for Owens. Some good value there.
  4. Geelong also in a good spot as they have: 24, 25, 32, 34 and 36 so they could plug their age gap quite quickly especially with this being a very even draft in that 20 to 40 range. Richmond has 28, 29 and 30. Hawthorn also in a good spot with 23 and 26 but their list is a bit of a mess so unlikely to make much impact for a few years.
  5. The AFL cases keep happening. At the Giants, an AFLW and an AFL player test positive. As does Brian Cook, CEO at Carlton. All fully vaccinated.
  6. Can't believe Blake Howes is still on the board, along with other top 20 faves: Butler, Sonsie, Johnson, Goater. Very boring night regarding live-pick trades.
  7. The first draftee will be called soon and other than a news article about draft order there isn't anything useful on the AFL website to track pick swaps or draftees as they are called. One would think all that would be in the 'Draft Hub'. But, no... Edit. Fox have created something rather rudimentary but it is better than nothing afl-draft-live-picks-every-pick-by-every-club-updates-full-draft-order-trades-draft-value-index Would rather check in there every now and then than sit thru endless waffle.
  8. ditch one of the male directors...🤔
  9. Even with the addition of Sally Freeman to our board (giving us two female members) we still don't meet the 40% quota requirement to ensure funding. With an 8 person board we need at least 3.
  10. That is what I said in point 3) of the post you quoted but curiously deleted it from the quoted post 🤔 The deleted part of my post is below. There are many permutations of pick swaps for us and other clubs and yeah giving up pick 17 for two in the low 20's is one.
  11. Lots more on possible pick trades here: latest-news-updates-whispers-live-trades This I found interesting: "Clubs that could trade up into this part of the draft include Brisbane (Picks 16 and 20) and Melbourne (Pick 19), who are considering getting ahead of Essendon (Pick 13) and Port Adelaide (Pick 14) in the order. That’s because all four clubs have been linked to Northern Knights defender Darcy Wilmot, who now looms as hot property in the middle of the draft and could be central to how the rest of the round pans out". Both Lions and Demons have been linked to the same players for a while so it is no surprise to see some jockeying by the two to climb up the order. Not sure we have the currency to out gun Brisbane who still have their 2022 first round pick to play with.
  12. Not directly related to the Dees, but highly likely events (from what I have read): 1) a variety of live-pick trades in the first round and that affect the first round. eg GWS trade out their second pick for future picks. Lions bundle up their first 2 to move up the order, Hawthorn swap 21 and 24 to get another first round pick. Will Geelong bundle up 22 and 23 to get another first round pick. So a few surprises on the cards as to draft order (after the first 4/5) and who slides out of and who bolts in the first round. 2) Freo will be up all night fielding offers for pick 19 (pre F/S); the first pick tomorrow. Players who were in top 20 calculations that have already slid out of the top 20 by at least one of the more notable phantom drafters: Goater, Van Rooyen, Chesser, Draper, Butler. Others might join them. Plenty of clubs will want that pick 19. 3) Low-mid 20 picks will also be valuable for clubs who want a slider. Current holders of those picks are: 20 North Melbourne 21 Hawthorn 22 Geelong 23 Western Bulldogs (highly likely to trade it to Geelong for two 30-something picks) 24 Hawthorn Would be surprised if there isn't a bit wheeling and dealing with that lot!!
  13. Chandler is not on the club's list of rookies to be upgraded submitted to the AFL. If AMW isn't bid on by another team in the main draft we can automatically take him as a B rookie.
  14. I guess that says a lot about his assessment of talent: Knightmare doesn't rate him in the top 50 ranking, yet recruiters have him in the top 20. Hmmm...
  15. I noticed that, yet he now has Chesser as a first rounder going to us at #17. Major change of heart by 'Knightmare'.
  16. Thanks, I missed that. While unlikely that Mac Andrew slides, its good to see we also nominated him. The Saints have 4 NGA nominations. It is unlikely they will take them all.
  17. Twomey doesn't throw names around which makes his mention of Anthony Caminiti linked to us quite interesting, albeit as a rookie. A profile for him is anthony-caminiti Height: 196cm, Weight: 83kg STRENGTHS: + Mobility + Leading Patterns + Overhead Marking + Clean Hands + Scoreboard Impact IMPROVEMENTS: - Strength - Exposure SUMMARY: In a draft crop dominated by midfielders, clubs may be more willing to take chances on developing talls a little higher up the order. In Caminiti's case, he'd be an ideal late-round or rookie option given his upside and rate of development, with exciting traits which can be enhanced at the next level. He is mobile and comfortable in possession, adding a bit of dynamism to go with his goalkicking and marking ability. It sounds like that with a bit of development he could be a very good forward.
  18. Chesser is interesting. Twomey has him at 24 but could go as high as 12. I've browsed 'Knightmare's' draft thread on bf and he doesn't have Chesser in his top 50 rankings. Doesn't rate him It will be interesting to see where he is picked.
  19. In his Phantom Draft, Cal Twomey says we have nominated Andy. He thinks he will join us as a rookie. In his case it will be as a 'B' rookie.
  20. Good to see Andy M-W nominated. Seems destined to be a 'B' rookie.
  21. No, it wasn't. In one of the earlier finals Goodwin was asked at one of the qtr breaks, his advice to the players. His response: Be yourself. He was saying to his players bring the best version of yourself. 'This is Me' meant something different to each player. It was the trigger to help them find that best version during the year. It is worth listening to the song again. Inspirational for anyone who has self doubt or wants to bring out the best in themselves. .
  22. They do. In one of the DL podcasts a few years ago, I recall PJ talking about sponsor bonuses for finals games. iirc correctly it was in the context of the real cost of playing Home games in NT - losses there or the week after could cost us making the finals and the subsequent sponsor bonuses. Next year we will have a lot more FTA prime time games so it makes sense for Jaguar to get back on board. But as @Darkhorsesaid our asking price (and maybe the length of the contract) could be sticking points. Pert would have a good idea of the asking price and terms from his Collingwood days. The price/terms could be a lot higher than with the last contract.
  23. iirc Kropinyeri is his birth Surname. Not sure when or why Pickett was added.
  24. Our examples are discussing different things with different statistical bases. I'm not even going to try to bring the two views to a statistically equivalent basis. Suffice to say comparing the examples we have quoted is like comparing apples and oranges. The point was that the impact of influenza can be just as bad as covid and we need more people have flu vaccines to avoid dealing with both diseases simultaneously.
  25. There is report that indicates the impact of Influenza is as bad as or worse than covid 19. after-two-years-of-low-cases-big-influenza-season-is-coming "Influenza cases this year have been more than 236 times lower than the five-year average for the same period, with just 600 lab-confirmed influenza cases and no deaths to date, the federal Department of Health said. It’s in stark contrast with the last pre-pandemic flu season, in which more than 306,000 lab-confirmed cases and 948 deaths were recorded, according to the National Notifiable Disease Surveillance System. There were nearly 247,000 cases and 1163 deaths in 2017". I don't know how those numbers compare to the covid case/death numbers over the same time but it doesn't look good. Admittedly, in Victoria we have been in lockdown for much of that time to halt the spread of the flu but not in all states. Influenza can be a dangerous disease. Hopefully more people will get the flu vaccine and reduce the risk all round. Or we could be dealing with large case numbers for both illnesses.
