  1. Can’t believe how immature some of the comments on this thread are. Surely, as a community, wee have to hold ourselves to a higher standard.
  2. The committee: Gillon McLachlan (chairman), Kevin Bartlett, Luke Darcy, Steve Hocking, Glen Jakovich, Chris Johnson, Cameron Ling, Matthew Richardson and Warren Tredrea. Darcy, Richo and Ling clearly don’t watch a lot of footy (that isn’t their teams) based on their horrific commentary. Also, any chance anyone whose played the game in the last 10 years gets a shot at the committee? I feel like the AFL just rewards channel 7, and then throws in Tredrea and Jakovich to appease SA and WA.
  3. Did you call in and tell them that neither do the Dees?
  4. Imagine if your job was reporting seeing a footballer drive a car that belonged to his in-laws. I’d be wondering what went wrong in my life. Woodward and Bernstein he ain’t.
  5. Honestly I don’t think there’s much difference between 250 and 300 games in the eyes of the football world. To play 250 proves that you’re an elite level talent at the highest standard - which is a massive achievement. He’s played more games than Robbie Flower and Jimmy Stynes. Just that alone is proof of his talent, hard work and dedication. He doesn’t need to go again, and to be brutally honest the club doesn’t need him too either. He’s been a brilliant Melbourne person, and he’ll continue to be for the rest of his life. He can leave with his head held high, knowing that we’ve always loved his effort and commitment.
  6. Essendon seem to have botched the coaching hand over. Players openly displeased with the new coach over Bell Chambers not getting a farewell game. Hurley, Merrett and Hooker all good mates with him and very unhappy it seems. Saad has also told the world he’s going too. What a mess. I’m thrilled.
  7. You guys are so negative. Think of all the ‘learnings’ the club can take from the year!
  8. And the Coleman was won with 42 goals. The game is like watching defensive soccer if a team plays keeping off, or defensive Rugby Union if a team wants to play stoppages. Its a massive shame. I feel in love watching Ablett, Dunstall, Lockett and Daicos doing extraordinary things 5-6 times a game.
  9. The Eagles had a rampant drug culture in 2006 and won the flag. Pinching bums is a beat up story. I don’t care if our players give each other reach arounds at half time, as long as they show up and play good footy for each other. It’s got nothing to do with why we drop games.
  10. Cameron Ling is a [censored]. So biased. Do your job, or shut up.
  11. It’s not inappropriate touching, as Christian encouraged it further. So it’s actually called ‘touching’. Consent means everything. This is a nothing story. And we wonder why most footballers seem like robots - it’s because everything else causes a bunch of do-nothing journos to write garbage.
  12. I really don’t understand what more people want Pickett to do as a 19 year old playing a difficult, very reliant role, in arguably the least consistent forward line in the comp. Rankine plays a similar role, went MUCH higher in the draft, is a year older, and has been very inconsistent in his first year. Give him another preseason and some more time to understand what his team mates are going to do ball in hand, and he could be anything. And, for the record, if the alternative was an inside midfielder then that’s the last thing we need.
  13. Today is an honest assessment of our footy club: We have talent and potential, but are mentally weak when the pressure comes.
  14. May giving Smith an absolute bake then.
  15. Did you guys know that Stewart and Weideman have a connection to Collingwood? Fascinating.
  16. Goodwin trying to play a game plan that he hasn’t recruited, or trained for. We don’t have the skills for this (because the coach insisted on contested ball beasts) and we proved it all quarter. Cant wait for 22 more games of this next year.
  17. Fritsch is kicking himself out of a career. It’s been horrific this year.
  18. We’ve had a fairly good run with injury this year. The best we’ve had I a fair few years. Im not sure if I should feel good about this, or very annoyed about sitting firmly in the middle of the road given the circumstances.
  19. If only there was a way for us to avoid all of this. ?
  20. Weed and Jackson are the 2 key forwards for us in 2021. Pickett works on his composure, and Fritsch improves his kicking and that’s 35 more goals in 2021. I like Spargo if he puts his hand up and says he’s your bread and butter hard worker - and he proves it every week. Petracca moves through their too. We need outside midfield class to deliver the ball. That’s where our money needs to go.
  21. You have to wonder if we had snuck a bye in like everyone else over the last 8 weeks if we’d have got over the line in at least one of those other games. The energy level was considerably different tonight.
  22. Trent Rivers is putting his hand up to be a 200 game player. It’s great to see. Seems a ripper.
