So what's the answer? Neeld seems to have a them and himself attitude. He constantly distances himself from the problem. His attitude is he will develop this basket case in 3 years! Can anyone recall Melbourne last year flogging Bombers at the G and easily beating Tigers. How about the tie and one point loss to Magpies? Players were confident and seemed much happier.

Absolute rot ! Would love to agree . Fitzpatrick clearly was well out of his depth and Melbourne should have lost by 25 goals. Short Ruckman don't cut it unless they are super athletes and play multi positions. Sylvia coming back from long break and serious injury did ok.

this is absolutely spot on. Simplistic but true! Melbourne's attacks with "insurance" . A Neeld Plan. If it turns to crap at lease the ball is not in a danger zone thus still have an opportunity to scrap a goal through.

Jones has to think twice because he hasn't got the freedom to act instinctively. He must follow a regimented game plan that is not natural to him.

My experience watching football over the years is tough players turn into tough and successful coaches while receivers and soft/skilled players turn into coaching duds. Mathews, Sheedy, Parkin, Nicholls, Ridley, Barassi and recently Hardwick, Scott Brothers, Worsfold, Thompson, Hird, Ratten, Clarkson.. I think you get the idea. Kelly is now seemingly in charge of scouting for this years draft. I hope he looks for "hard nuts" of the Sylvia mode. Confession here is though I try to be positive in previous posts I am and so should all of be being bitterly disappointed at the appointment of Neeld. Neeld after all the initial tough talk and talk of Melbourne having the best young list must now apparently endure another year of experimentation with game plans. We should all be up in arms about all this and be openly demanding the entire board step aside! Melbourne have long recruited dud coaches, recruits and administrators for decades now and with this Kelly appointment it's going to get worse. What an earth are they thinking to appoint such a person to this role? Sad for Melbourne the Viney, Healey and Lyon club while all passionate Melbourne past Players are all unwilling to take the job. Alarm bells rang loud and clear when Viney replaced Bailey for the last few games "because no one else would do it". I'll see if I'm interested at the close of the season type of attitude. Viney should never have been given that role unless he was a firm candidate for 2012 and fully committed to apply . He was only a 50/50 to apply at best. Gary Lyon is all talk and Stan Alves is probably just a bit past it. Would rather have had Alves, Sheedy, Malthouse or even Rodney Eade! How did we let Ratten go so easily!! Neeld swiftly appointed Grimes/Trengove as Captains. No Rudder, no leadership. MC was cleared late last night. Hope Mitch plays v Saints and that Sylvia comes straight in. A slight worry Sylvia will be underdone but have to go with it.

Hawthorn would of beaten MFC by over 100 points today. Bulldogs are bad. Dees can recover. Hard to take though. Lost for answers. Stop worrying about pot hills in the road and enjoy the journey might be a start for our Melbourne boys

Holy Moley! What to say after that? If you want to blame umpires then you're dreaming boys. Today was the third full game I've seen this year. Seems to be kick long to contest and kick wide then scrap like hell with the object of forcing a goal. The past 3 years the losses have not seemed so utterly despairing because at least there was some system, some spread not simply kick the ball long and wide to contest. Melbourne tried hard today and still lost. Bulldogs made us look better that what we were. Bulldogs were in fact ordinary. Sorry boys this is the way it was and I am passionate red and blue. If anyone is satisfied with today then culture of losing will remain for many years. Melbourne need some leadership of the ilk of Judd (for next year) and 2 more gun players and possibly a coach. Recruiting has always been poor as well as players we have let go. Lots more I could say. So many mistakes. Where to from here? Perhaps an overall lift from every player and a review of the Game plan.

Saints is possible with Sylvia back and Jamar lifts. Collingwood, Blues and Bombers possible but unlikely. My tip is 1-10 and will win 5 in the back half. Neeld's Men 6 wins and this is a fail. Always another year though Cudi!

Without checking how Scorps went today Ins: Petterd, Couch(try him) and our best performing ruck man with scorps. Outs: Macdonald, McDonald and Sellar. Sellar is just ok, tries ok but will never be an Icke, Spalding or even Campbell. He does try but that is it. Might need to find a FF if Clarke doesn't come up.
