  1. Magner limped off a couple of times. Appeared to be severe cramp.
  2. just checked out the Casey list today. Tapscott, Sellar for Rivers and Bartram...would be a start. Green and Davey on notice. Petterd and Couch might be nice ins...
  3. Cheer up Boys. Wouldn't be calling for Mc Kenzie's head yet. Every team needs a tagger. Rivers would be a good St. Kilda City player with Bartram right beside him. Jarryd used to push forward and kick the occasional goal but those days have long gone. Give Sellar a go. Ricky Petterd is greatly missed and must be injured? Frawley struggled today and will bounce back. MC will not be a gun full forward. He will end up working with Jamar and may even go into defensive roll. Obviously need LJ back asap. Ditto with Sylvia! Sylvia, Petterd, Jurrah are match winners for the Dees and all 3 were out today. Casey won today so hopefully someone stood out. Once again hoping Leigh Williams will be good for us second half of the year. Melbourne appeared to be playing with weights and sandbags tied to themselves. Players seemed confused in a similar way to the first couple of games under Bailey. A comment: Two captain policy is a mistake. One is enough and a vice. Trouble is finding one. A better choice would have been Jamar.
  4. I understand your pessimism. Also agree with player reviews but don't judge a season on Round one. Lets see where we stand round 5. Green, Rivers, Bartram need to move on and play out the season with Casey.
  5. What time does the Fed Square Coverage of Jim's day commence? Is the public permitted to go to the State funeral and where and what time is it to be held.
  6. I think he did Biffo/ I can recall being awoken by Alan McGilvray "caught at slips by Chappell". I think it was Edrich.
  7. Hei moderator..where is the thread on lifting the general tone of critique and stop simply bagging out on past and current day players/
  8. Jim Stynes was AFL's 'greatest story' Martin Flanagan reflects on the life of Melbourne great Jim Stynes. Stynes to receive state funeral
  9. Read the topic/subject. "lift the tone" about posts simply wanting to bag out on players and other Demonland members making comments. Even it it was a "repeat" what the hell is the problem. There's a hell of lot of posts up and the chance of a repeat is high I suspect.
  10. Boys and Girls..read the topic. Lift the tone? This negative anal type response. A simple number wouldn't kill you? I apologise . Wasn't aware we had to scan every single topic to make sure there was no repeats? Fair Dinkum how sad are you both. rhino and Old Dee
  11. Aside from all the sadness and heartaches we all feel so deeply. Jimmy for me along with Sean Wight were two of the best players I have seen post 1966 in key positions Ruck and defence. How bizarre to lose both champions, similar age, same origin, vintage and at comparatively similar times. A very very sad day!
  12. http://media.theage.com.au/sport/real-footy/jim-stynes-was-afls-greatest-story-3147395.html This tribute for me is probably the best and that's certainly saying something given some wonderful tributes
  13. A true HERO and champion in every sense. Lets all pull together for this GREAT GREAT man and his Family at this time. Perhaps we can bring him through this yet again? Number 11 and 37 will always be remembered deep in our hearts either way. ROG Bangkok 19th of March 2012. Go JIm and Go Dees!! Worth noting Jim has put the Club in with the chance of achieving greatness. We need Jimmy to hang in to see it all unfurl.
  14. For anyone that's followed Melbourne for over 40 years it's not hard to see MFC is heading in the right direction. To be frank after returning to Demonland this year nothing much has changed re constant criticism of both past and present players. Am referring to general slagging off and critique lacking any construction. Not by all Demonland members but many. Recents posts about Gary Hardeman and Jack Watts are examples. "Spoon for thought" was a post added to unite positive discussion about the differences between the last time we were this excited and today. That year ended with one win and the reasons were pretty clear with most players in that particular team well past there prime though many were still Champions. I can still clearly recall the first quarter of that season thinking this was going to be the year. Turns out I was dreaming! So here we are again not 1981 but 2012 but the difference with this team is we must be patient. We're good at that yeah? The 81 team was a ready made one, a team of champions, ageing stars compared to the side of today which has the potential "to be anything". No passengers! Watts, Jurrah, Mitch Clark, Jamar, Moloney, Sylvia, Grimes, Frawley, McKenzie, Petterd, Jones, Trengove with new coach Neeld and assistants are a rock firm base to build a wonderful Football club. The Norsworthy/Tilbrook/Templeton days are long behind us. Jack Watts could be a sensation even this year. To expect him to be blazing through packs and taking screamers in NAB games is just a joke. Where are we at? Will soon find out but I am one to put my hand up now and say we'll push between 6-10 and with some extraordinary injury luck with guys of the Sylvia Jurrah Grimes ILK , some Watts blossom and Magner's ice cream not melting maybe could push up even higher. PREDICTION 8.
  15. so was I !! Greg Wells was dominating the centre and who knows how far Dees would have gone if we made it. I recall tuning in to Bulldogs game. Did Bullies not have to win for us to get in?? or was it draw?
  16. well picked up deluded! Did you also pick up I didn't give some players of that year a mention, i.e, Spud Dullard.
  17. no one picked it. Big Carl wasn't actually in the team of 1981. What could of been if he coached the side instead of RB. Premiership or Spoon for thought? Good Post Angrey Dee!
  18. Must say I haven't noticed Troy Davis apart from the Pies Game? He looked good. Hope you're right dee-luded!! Could be a great call! "very special Premiership player for Us" If that prediction comes off then we all should chip in for dee-luded"s Membership next year.

    Top 5

SYLVIA MOLONEY FRAWLEY JAMAR PETTERD/JURRAH (NBT) Can't split for NTB or 5th spot. PUSHING: GRIMES, WATTS, MCKENZIE, TRENGOVE, CLARK (YTP) Summary: Spread evenly like Honey. ABLETT FRANKLYN JUDD SELLWOOD SWAN PUSHING: PENDLEBURY, COX.
  20. so we mark you down for Magner then? Arsene? Grunt can be good.
  21. We have some Guns at Melbourne contrary to some posts herewith and various media opinion. Moloney, Sylvia, Russian, LJ and Spud Junior just for starters. Who is or will be the NBT? Footnote: Bush Demon's Acronym
  22. If your point is Watts is good then I agree. Don't expect too much from him yet and don't listen to negative commentators, i.e. Mathews and Malthouse. If Watts stays injury free he'll be brown low material in 3 years.
