  1. Seems like the boss doesn't put in the long hours. Is he doing the old 9 to 5? Wouldn't have thought an organisation like the AFL would shut up shop too early, the boss just got caught out.
  2. Perhaps we didn't give the response they wanted. The word was the legal people didn't want to give to much away. More interesting times ahead.
  3. Interesting comment by AD this morning that Melbourne hadn't responded to the AFL by last nights close of biz. Go figure.
  4. Hopefully a few of these guys will have the wind knocked out of them and the ones who still lift their arms as a reflex will learn not to if they keep getting a hard shoulder under the ribs enough times. ...but yeah this is what they're working on.
  5. The tackle needs to be above the knee which it is. Who knows how the AFL will rule on anything so at the moment I think it is a great approach to tackling that most AFL players don't do. By the way the AFL umpire was watching the tackling session closely to give advise on the technique. The best technical tackle I have seen of the current day players is NikNat, if you watch him he always goes hard and low and takes his opponent out of the game. Given that he is taller than most he comes up against he never gives free kicks away for head high tackles and this has become a big issue. Remember our performance against WC last year and the amount of head highs we gave, it was embarrassing. A lot of people, think you need to pin the arms in a tackle for the best result and have trained to achieve this. This is just not a practical idea as players have been lifting their arms in the tackle to give off since at least the 80's, Brett Lovett was a master. Todays players like Joel Selwood just slip the tackle and draw head high free's. The idea is to put the shoulder in low and take the wind out of your opponent, take him to ground and put the ball into dispute. Part of the drill is to get up and back into the game and be a number at the next contest. I think our new approach is right on the money and like a few things we are doing it is ahead of the game. Well done FD and Mark Neeld.
  6. Any admission of guilt will cripple us; as I think 'rpfc' posted it would mean the end of gaming licences and in effect the Bentleigh club. It's not going to happen and we're not in a position to give up any draft picks. You wouldn't want your future riding on free agency compo either.
  7. This is how you do it Tom!
  8. Could someone tell me how you upload pix?
  9. It wasn't the case at training, when contesting Jamar more than held his own. Some parts of this exercise were also set up that one player would try a certain technique of rolling around the back of the other, so there was some genuine contesting but more exercise if that makes sense.
  10. How do you do this 'Nasher', I've got a couple of Toumpas' kicking style I would like to show in comparison to Scully.
  11. He was covering a lot of ground and really involved too which was also good to see. He will probably push up the ground a bit this year.
  12. Would have gone already, he had the offer last deal.
  13. Isn't the champion data guy the one that 'Half' has on for his DT segment?
  14. I don't really rate champion data that highly, if you look at dream team points they often have little relevance to what actually happened in a real game. It is fantasy football played with fanciful stats.
  15. The Cat's are an interesting one 'Macca', by rights with the players they've lost over the last few years they should drop back. I'm not sure where to place them but I know in the end like with the Australian cricket team you can't replace champions easily. Ottens, Scarlett, Ling gone a fair few of the others getting near the end it could turn South for them very quickly. A lot is going to be placed on the heads of Selwood and Hawkins this year. I like Duncan and Christiansen but they have some big shoes to fill, Menzal a lot of ability but no guarantee to play a lot of football unfortunately for him. I think the 'Tiges' drafted poorly this year and it will come back to bite them. The Malthouse factor will be interesting to watch at Carlton, they certainly haven't added anything to their list so what can Mick bring. Would love to see them come unstuck, the phone calls to 'Finey' would just make my weekend along with sack 'The Golden Boy' calls if the Dons struggle. We couldn't add 'Bucks' to the list could we? No, probably asking to much.
  16. He has done it but got weeks 'Axis' and I reckon that set him back a bit. The AFL used him as an unfair sacrifice on the sling tackle issue and I reckon it had a big effect on him in his 2nd season.
  17. Bad wording, mine not yours. My opinion is a lot of the criticism is unfair, from some on here but more so from supporters at other clubs who have hardly if ever seen him play. I Know you're not a fan and I can understand why but I think this year will see him develop further and the more physical aspects required will come into his game. I don't think he will ever be a Kenny Hunter with no regard for his own safety but so long as he goes when he has to and uses his assets (height, speed, kicking, decision making) to advantage then I will be happy with that.
  18. Adrian Anderson! lol
  19. I think there is a lot of unfounded criticism given to Watts, but on this I think you are right. When he does start taking advantage of his physical assets added to his kicking and decision making he will be a player.
  20. Big news if true but you would wonder why a player or players father would know.
  21. MIght be like the 8 period game last year with players swapping teams and not a full compliment of 22 a side. More about getting a feel for match conditions before the NAB cup which are in essence practice games.
  22. Thinking the same.
  23. I don't see too many if anyone being critical of his choice. There was certainly interest in his weight especially since it seemed to be overstated but that was just some of us having not much better to do than get into an argument (discussion) and a bit of relief from the whole tanking thing. I think we all want to see him play and are excited by his talent, the only argument is when will he be ready for senior footy. That should keep this thread running a while longer.
  24. I'm sure you will agree 'Ben' that it really doesn't matter where he would have been drafted but what value he is to the club from here on in. He could well end up being the big steal of this draft.
