How many people are employed in the front offices at Carlton, Hawthorn,Collingwood?????Who the hell cares???......This is a multi million dollar business....It need people to run this business....From membership...sponsers....mail boys to send out the memberships on time....account payable and received And we are whinging about costs???? Give me a break

I even signed my dog up for a Pets Membership ($20)........He gets a demon rug to lie on and a great demons collar tag....He doesn't really care if we win or lose and is happy to watch the games with the family next to the heater........ I don't have to worry that he will change teams as I think he will be a demon for life......
-
Took my kids to a lot of MFC games....win lose or draw you just make it a good day out and have fun (although a bit harder after a loss)...Both are now demon members (both in their late 20's now.)...Good luck...
-
And how do we get the people out Casey way to become members?????....If we dump Casey......I know quite a few who support Casey (old Springvale) and now are new members of the MFC because of the allignment....and the effort of our players playing there...
-
So we only need another 500 members a year to kick in a grand PER YEAR...to afford this????.....Is that what you're saying????
-
Got a spare $500,000.......per year WYL......Thats what it will cost the club for stand alone VFL side......Money is too hard to come by to waste it on a stand alone reserves side...IMHO.....

Saw my first Melb game in 1963......We had just come to Vic from Newcastle....and my Mum was a Dees supporter and would take the family to every game...including Geelong and Footscray during the year....We used to have hot dogs for lunch and then set off to the footy......My sisters and I would cut up crape paper on the Friday night and attach it to a stick and we would have our floggers for the game. We used to line up outside the MCG overnight to get finals tickets and I was privilaged to be at the last flag win.... I then started to play the game at junior level and had to miss Melb games but it never curbed my enthusiasm. I even got a letter from Jim Caldwell inviting me to train with the under 19's...which I did but after 3 weeks missed playing and training with my mates so went back and played suburban footy..... After playing and coaching until I was 38, I again started to go to Melb games.....We had some good years and made grand finals and we had some shite years such as now I have never douted that we would come good again....and I remain a very loyal and committed member of the Melb footy club....My kids (now in their late 20's) are fully paid up members(the tradition continues)

At least Riv would play most games......i reckon you could count on about 4 or 5 games from Gumbo....

Sorry.....I just don't get the love for Caddy on this thread......I think we are better off going for Wines(strong ...head over the ball midfielder)....I have only seen Caddy a few times and he has not impressed me at all....

If you lose a player to FA......and you gain one from FA....No compensation will be given.... -
What horrible news.....My daughter is in Bali.....Just makes you worry more....
-
What about Port Vs Dandenong in the late 60s early 70s...It was like a war...
-
Aahh the old VFA....where men were men and the players tried to kill each other
-
Just read in the HS about Steve Febey ... has gone through some very hard times after footy and the Bali bombings ... feel for the bloke ... worth a read.

So you know that he never says anything nice about players in private????....I also think that "behave" is meant as a buy in... not just for silly boys -

Where the hell are these stories comming from....If there is a leak at the footy club it should be stopped post haste....or is it just the media looking for something to write or fill up a bit of time on a slow news day.....Why is there no bits of information comming from other clubs????.... -
All robots would be clones of the current players....The only good thing is if they break a leg you would be able to replace said leg within minutes...Replace a tattooed arm with in minutes....

Yes I agree....Last night was the exception...

I will qualify now that I have played over 300games of this game called football....One season at the 2nd highest level (VFA)....I have captain/coached my own side at seconds level when I was 37......I loved football....You could play...have a drink after with the family and opposition and even the umpires after the game. I still have friends that I played against and with all that time ago. I even trained at under 19 level at the dees But the game has changed(Not for the better) these days the players are like robots.....every minute of every day is micro managed.... From the day you are drafted...what you do and what you eat...how you spend every minute is scrutinzed and managed...If you have a drink it is reported in the front pages of the papers....I know that players get a pretty good wage(the ones who make it) but it seems to me that the fun has gone out of it...I have just retired from a fairly public career but have never been under the scruiny that these young lads have to put up with.. I used to love going to the footy, even non Melbourne games....seeing champs do their stuff ...seeing the bumps and hits and the high scoring....Now I have trouble even watching nthe Dees..let alone other matches.....It's like watching robots...they are all the same...saying the same things...living the same lives...If you are different you soon get told to shape up or ship out You cant bump now....you cant tackle if the other bloke is hurt.(Jack Trengove) there are 36 bloke in packs that just follow the ball around like an under 10 match.....and I blame the so called great coachs like Roos, Lyon and Wallace who stuffed up this once great game. I see in the far future that this game will be played by robots (Real Steel) where players will be behind a control panel wired up to a robot and the robots will be out on the field where no player can be hurt...As this game will be too dangerous for humans to play.... The only thing that will not change is the jurnos who will still report on games from the bar and give votes to who ever gets the most kicks..... Sorry to be so negative but after this year footy sucks.....
