  1. Yep, I wasn't overly impressed. I don't think he'd make it.
  2. No.
  3. No cheap shot. Just no point trying to reason with someone that won't listen to it, so I don't bother.
  4. So simple for you, isn't it RobbieF? But your arguments are all skewed beyond reality.
  5. Get it right - pick 7 in a "strong" draft. It was only weak for all the teams that had their picks pushed back by Gold Coast's domination.
  6. Yeah......... Nah.
  7. I'm going to back in Bennell. He might not be the permanent FP, but he'll be a regular in our 22.
  8. Of course, it's not very often you can get a guarantee that a player will be an elite player at AFL level. But goddamn, O'Meara really looks like it. Not as sold on Crouch.
  9. I'd give a compensation pick (plus change) for Caddy in a heartbeat, but I'd do my best to keep the "mid 1st round" compo pick. From here on out, our rise up the ladder will continue, and as each year goes by the "after 1st round" compo pick will become less valuable. Even now with Mitch Clark it has lost some value. If only we'd been smart enough to do the deal for Clark, but put it on hold while we snaffle Caddy first. Oh well, it should work out for us well either way. The thing is, if it were to happen, we start to accumulate more and more players of the ilk of Gysberts, McKenzie, Tapscott... very good, but you can only fit so many into a side. Depth is valuable, but you can only maintain it for so long before good players leave for more opportunities. The economy of positions available in the side (22) means you want to squeeze as much talent into the one player as you can. We really should have traded the 2 compo picks for an absolute elite kid. That said, caddy is not far off IMO from being a lot like an angry Luke Ball.
  10. I'm a fan of getting him, even with Clark in hand, but I think it'd make us too top heavy. Losing Bate or Dunn would even it out though.
  11. Is Tippett really worth that much more than Clark? Or is it only because he is contracted?
  12. Haven't you just proved exactly why we should hang onto the compo picks for either a strong draft, or trade them for an established player, or at least a relatively know quantity? As opposed to pick 7-10, that could garner us such names as Tenace, Clarke, Trotter or Dunn? Pass.
  13. "After 1st round pick" to goldcoast for Caddy, keeping the "mid 1st round pick" for 2012 draft (as it will probably be higher, albeit not by much).
  14. Mitch's namesake Jay Clark at the herald sun has already been tweeting this morning that he speculates this might mean Mitch is on more money than the number 1 at either Collingwood or Geelong. I can live with that perception.
  15. He's not a number 1 pick, but Caddy is worth at least 1 priority pick. I'd use our "after 1st round pick", Warnock and maybe pick 39 from trading Bate? That should get the deal done. He'll be worth it.
  16. Stevens I'm lukewarm about. Caddy would have me over the moon. I guess its all relative to the price you pay, though. But I doubt GC would be too interested in Spencer or Bail. They have a heap of ruckmen and mids. Really what they need is mature KPP to protect their tall kids for the next year or so.
  17. Yep. If we get involved in that and end up with pick 30-50ish, I'd be well happy. It's the best we'll get IMO. Is there any way we can send that as a suggestion to TIm Harrington? Anyone got his email address..? Twitter? Maybe if I put an ad on gumtree?

    Pick 12

I'm not too disappointed. The quality likely to be left at pick 12 this year was a bit underwhelming. Happy to get Clark and hopefully end up with a handful of picks between 30 and 50.
  19. I'd use one compo pick and change on Caddy. He brings what I expect Viney will, and you simply can't have too much of that. Ferocious attack on the hard footy, decent skills, and then tested surprisingly well at draft camp, that raised his standing after he was perceived as a little slow. I have no doubt he'll make it, and he'd be starting 22 at the Dees in no time.
  20. Depends on how many teams want him, how badly, and where he wants to go. We'd get a half-decent trade done if Gold Coast & GWS want him, but he wants to get to the Hawks. Unfortunately, this doesn't seem to be the case.
  21. And we can offer a lot more than the bombers can.
  22. Young gun Josh Caddy keen to help his dad. If we're not trying to get involved in attracting Caddy to the club, we bloody well should be. Will be a serious gun and wins his own footy.
  23. Although there were many other good candidates, as far as I was concerned at the time there was a Selwood available and you just don't pass that up. He went the next pick, from memory.
  24. To me, the song refers to a literal flag bearing the club's emblem. I wouldn't have thought it was that obscure.
  25. Toovey wants more money than Collingwood are offering, and by the sounds of it his idiot manager had been filling his head with ideas that he should be paid better. For a start, it depends on how much Toovey wants. Secondly, he looks like a handy role player, but where we he play? Is he really better than anyone we already have? I think it's just a case of "ooh! Sorta handy premiership player walks out! Let's get him!" and the thinking doesn't really go beyond that. And as everyone else has said, Neeld would know. If he wants Toovey, I'm all for it.
