Do you prefer Van Rooyen forward or back?
  2. Very small highlights real that for some reason don't include any of his state rep games.

There were rumblings of an Eagles player that was holding out on getting the vaccine. Hopefully no demons are in this position.

Agreed, I do find it curious though that Johnson is never linked with either of freos picks despite being constantly predicted to go in that mid section of the first round.

Him and Draper are probably the two biggest names not to be included in the first round. All just fun guesswork though on their part. There wasn't much noise about Pedlar, Stone, Angwin or Holmes as first rounders until quite late in the piece last year. I'm expecting a few more curveballs to come this year as well and look forward to who might get through to our pick. Could Johnson, Draper or Sinn get through, I wouldn't rule it out just yet. Similarly, we could pick someone from relative obscurity as well. As for Sonsie, I would be more than happy to add him to our midfield ranks.

I've watched several games and read quite a lot of draft material, players profiles, stats etc... I wouldn't put a lot of stock into my opinion but from what I've been reading there is a consensus in the quality of first approximately 10-12 picks, after that there seems to be a belief that its quite even and you can throw a blanket over the next 20-30 prospects. The first 12-13 picks haven't deviated much from other phantom drafts that are out there. Some other names around the mark of the later stages of the first round are Draper, Sonsie, Butler, Knevitt, Taylor, Owens, Roberts. I feel this draft is even harder than last year to predict due to covid interrupting a second straight year. Some kids haven't been exposed much since u16s. Players like Sinn, Sonsie and Chesser were tipped to be top 10 candidates at one stage but haven't had the continuity to showcase their skills. It's one reason clubs would be wise to hold a SSP pick over for next year's mid season draft should players not drafted this year show massive development next season. There are more knowledgeable draft people on here than me, @ChaserJ might be one that can illuminate us further. As for Blake Howes, he's a 190cm forward/winger that's been described as being one of the most athletically gifted in the draft pool. Runs a quick 2km and is a great mark overhead. Would probably slot in nicely but I think we could take any number of players in different roles that would slot in well as a developing player. A nice write up on him here and a highlights vid. https://central.rookieme.com/afl/player/blake-howes/

For those interested the Afl website with Cal Twomey, Kevin Sheehan and Nat Edwards have just put up a 1st round mock draft based on needs in their latest draft podcast. https://www.afl.com.au/news/687117/road-to-the-draft-podcast-2021-mock-draft For those that don't want to listen to the 40 odd minute podcast, these were the picks. 1. North - JHF 2. Collingwood - Daicos (matched bid) 3. Bulldogs - Darcy (matched bid) 4. GWS - Gibcus 5. GC - Callaghan 6. Adelaide - Rachelle 7. Hawthorn - Ward 8. Freemantle - Hobbs 9. Richmond - Erasmus 10. Freemantle - Amiss 11. St Kilda - Mac Andrew 12. West Coast - NWM 13. Essendon - Johnson 14. Port - Sinn 15. GWS - Goater 16. Brisbane - Wilmot 17. Richmond - Van Rooyen 18. GWS - Fahey (matched bid) 19. Sydney - Brown 20. Melbourne - Howes 21. Brisbane - Chesser
  8. Thanks. So we currently have picks 17, 37, 49, 57 and 94. I would predict that we will use 17, 37 at the draft with 57 being more than enough to match for Taj. That leaves one list spot for a SSP addition. We should be able to leverage something out of pick 49, which should come into the low 40's by the time all the pies and Bulldogs picks get absorbed in their f/s selections. That will be pretty valuable to a few clubs, including those that need more points for NGAs and f/s or maybe just want another selection all together. StKilda, GWS as well as Pies and Dogs are just a few clubs that might be interested in it. I'm not sure it will be enough to seriously upgrade pick 17 but we could perhaps get an upgrade to 37 or perhaps a future pick or two for next year.
  9. Yeah that sucks. I was just asking about the difference between the two because I didn't see the victory pack on the Melbourne online shop so only ordered the premiers DVD. I tried to research after I found out about the victory pack online but they pretty much had the same description with no mention of what extra content the victory pack had. Mr Steve kindly answered earlier about the additional finals games included. Hope your DVD arrives soon.
  10. Legend, thank you.
  11. Do you know what's the difference between the victory pack and the regular premiership DVD? There's a significant price difference but I've checked a couple websites and there's no details about what extra content they have.
  12. Meanwhile those of us that haven't received anything.
  13. Outstanding work. These highlights would not look out of place as a special feature on our premiership DVD.

Sonsie, Chesser and Taylor as well. One will be available if we go down that route.
  15. Zac Taylor highlights posted today. Like most other draftees, the vision is fairly limited. Seems he is comfortable off both feet but predominately a right foot kick, must have got my wires crossed there. A good write up on him here. https://afl.draftcentral.com.au/player/zac-taylor/
  16. Paywall. Could you, or someone else who has access, mind listing the players mentioned? I've read somewhere that Adelaide is keen on Rachele. Some things are starting to take shape. The introduction of live pick swapping makes draft predictions an absolute nightmare.
  17. Zac Taylor, this years cannons b&f winner, was one I was hoping would sneak through to our second pick. Seems to be rising up the draft boards and wouldn't even be surprised if he went first round. I think he would compliment our midfield nicely being described as one of the best kicks in the draft (left footer) with excellent pace. While only 180cm, he has a strong contested side highlighted by his last game of the season where he picked up 37 disposals, 22 of which were contested. Would sit well on the other wing to langdon when his body is up for the rigours of afl. Wouldn't be upset if we used 17 on him. Nice article on him below. Haven't found any highlights yet but will post when I find some. https://www.afl.com.au/news/686220/why-cannons-b-f-winner-with-high-footy-iq-is-taylor-made-for-afl

Would be a hint of irony if Mac Andrew ended up at GWS. The introduction of NGAs to the clubs outside of the Northern academies, among other reasons, was largely seen as a way to even up the unfair advantage GWS and Sydney had over cherry picking the best talent in their area. A flawed idea in itself. Now we have the winding back of clubs priority NGA rights due to the development pathways being Covid affected. GWS, Sydney, Gold Coast and Brisbane still have unfettered access to their academy players I believe. GWS, who had priority rights to access players such as Tom Greene, Harry Perryman, Harry Himmelberg and Jacob Hopper, is now widely speculated to take a Melbourne zoned NGA player without the dees ability to match. Funny how things work out.
  19. Well it wouldn't be out of place for demonland to get some recognition from the club in some form, would be well deserved for what you guys have given us as a community 👍

I really like the look of Sinn and Sonsie, would have liked to have seen more of Chesser. Do you know much about Zac Taylor? He's one I'm keeping an eye on and reckon he could compliment our midfield by being that outside winger with speed and reportedly excellent kicking skills. Seems to be in the mid to late second round calculations at the moment. I'm hoping he is one that might fall to our second pick.
  21. Nice, looks fantastic. The blue hat really compliments your red face as well I also ordered this jumper through the mfc website a couple days after the granny but the website said it's expected release is the 13th of December? Seems you have friends in high places! Or a bit quicker on the mouse clicks than I was.

I believe it's just his rankings of the players and not a mock draft as such. However I could actually see the appeal in Wilmot. He's a small defender and we've just lost depth there in Jetta and Lockhart. Hibberd probably has one more year in him as well while Tomlinson is more key position size. We do have Salem, Rivers, Hunt and Bowey playing off the half back currently but it wouldn't surprise me to see Rivers and Bowey move up the ground as their career progresses. Pressure from players below in the ressies cannot be understated as well. His description as being aggressive/combative as well as attacking flair gives me impressions of a Brayden Maynard type. I have no idea on his skill level and game iq due to the covid scratched season but if he is ticking those boxes then he'd be a good option in my view. Personally, I feel we need to have a young developing key forward on the list to plan for the transition of McDonald and Brown in the event that Weideman doesn't kick on. Amiss looks to be out of range, perhaps Van Rooyen could be the man?

Cal Twomey has posted his October phantom form guide for October and has expanded it to a top 35. https://www.afl.com.au/news/685788/cal-twomeys-phantom-form-guide-top-draft-prospects-october-ranking
  24. While I pretty much agree with your comments on Mac Andrew, it seems a fait accompli for him to be drafted in the top 15 and out of our reach. While he has some outstanding physical traits and decent skills for a big man, there must be a massive amount of projection of his potential for clubs to be willing to part with a first rounder for him. From what I've seen of him, his game sense/running patterns aren't at a high level. Certainly not as coveted as Luke Jackson was which was highlighted by our recruiters in the draft video of the to hell and back documentary series. Let's also not forget that Luke Jackson was widely seen as a mid teens pick by the draft "experts." These same experts are now stating Mac is a top 10 pick on less than half the exposed game time and inferior stats to Luke in every category. Macs potential impact in front of goal I believe is also overstated having only kicked to 2 goals in 6 NAB league games. He also finished 13th in the stingrays best and fairest. To my eyes, Mac Andrew is impressive when the ball is put on his head and he can out stretch his opponents. When around the ball in the ruck he is also impressive at out leaping his counterpart and also following up with repeated efforts at ground level where he also has great skills for a man of his size. Perhaps the impact on the game that Luke has had has put a premium on talented mobile big men with these traits and is what is pushing him up the board. It will take Mac alot longer to get their in my view, if it all.
