Wildcard Round
I think everyone should focus on the positive in this situation which is... Gold coast finishing 7th and being knocked out in the wildcard round and gifting us pick 9 instead of 12+ Death ride 2.0... Fall of the SunsTM (working title)

Welcome to Demonland: Picks 7 & 8
That's a big if. So far we've been going off reporter rankings which obviously will have a large discrepancy with recruiters. The Windsor to dees mail came fairly late and not long after our interest was known it came out GWS was also eyeing him off.

I'd imagine we would have to offer up a future 1st as well to get that deal done.

The Latrelle Sumner-Pickett Thread
Perhaps, but I vividly remember the outrage on here in the 2019 draft when we not only traded our pick 8 down to 10, but then proceeded to take Kozzie with that pick. Most thought he was a 2nd - 3rd round pick at best and only had average form line in the sanfl ressies. If the recruiters take him at 8 I'll back them in, they know what they're doing. If he's our target but we're able to slid down the order a bit and pick up future selections, even better.

Someone posted on the rumour thread that Adelaide are keen to trade up for him. I wouldn't be opposed to doing something like this. We'll have 2 death rides next year and will be armed with up to 3 first round picks (+ 2 futures) to trade aggressively or take to the draft.

- AFL Draft 2025: Phantom Drafts
Based off the above, and assuming we can't get up for Robey, I wouldn't be surprised if we did some pick swapping that would land us say one of Cumming/Sharp + Dovaston and Pickett.- AFL Draft 2025: Phantom Drafts
Based off the fox sports article, which is still a long way out so take with a grain of salt, we are... Linked Robey - but would have to trade up Sharp Cumming - states likely Essendon or Melbourne Dovaston Not linked Farrow - linked with one of bombers two picks then hawthorn next O Taylor - Bulldogs, Giants and crows interested 1st round parties Greeves Barker Guess work X Taylor - hard to see slipping past this point in the draft Schubert - if we want a tall he'll be considered Grjl - hard to see slipping past this point in the draft Lindsay - might be considered but range likely to start from hawks/gws picks Marsh - would melbourne consider him Pickett - could the dees consider him with on night one, whispers that we could are doing the rounds, has interest from bulldogs and hawks.- Welcome to Demonland: Picks 7 & 8
@ChaserJ is usually well educated in draft prospects. Any thoughts on who we should select here? I usually watch a fair bit of junior footy but didn't see nearly as much as I would have liked this year.- Tassie Devils Possible Extinction
- AFL Draft 2025: Phantom Drafts
My thoughts are constantly changing but I think my preference at this stage, should Robey and Grjl be off the table, would be Farrow and O Taylor. Both provide run and good ball use with Farrow in particular having scope to go into the middle down the track. Taylor seems to have a rare combination of speed and excellent ball use which is perfect for the modern game. Wouldnt be upset with Marsh as well and can see a good reason to add him to the list given our medium forwards are ageing. 37 I would look at a small forward. Hopefully one of Pickett, Byrne or Matthews will be available.- AFL Draft 2025: Phantom Drafts
I have some reservations about Sharp as well, not just on his athleticism but his ability to play in any other position. We'd have to be confident he'll be a bonafide 200 gamer inside mid as I just can't see him playing anywhere else. If he's good enough to be a long term starting inside extractor then by all means we should pick him. Trying to project 5 years into the future of what our midfield balance could be.. Pickett (70/30), Rivers, Langford, Lindsay, Windsor, Tholstrup, D Sharp Has this got enough balance of contested ball winning ability, outside run, speed and disposal skills? I think it might, and what might work in Sharps favour is the fact that the rest of these mids aren't one-dimensional and can play in other positions.- AFL Draft 2025: Phantom Drafts
We would but Hilary won't be available.- Welcome to Demonland: Picks 7 & 8
Would low key love a Collingwood death ride.- Welcome to Demonland: Picks 7 & 8
I don't mind the idea of flipping one of our picks into next year's first round but given both West Coast and Richmond have 2 picks each in the top 4 I would be surprised if they sacrificed next years first for a 3rd first round pick that will be mid-ranged. Perhaps North Melbourne might be bold again if they back themselves in to improve next year. However, they could equally be reticent due to last year's trading which cost them pick 4 in this draft. Dees: 25, 26, NM f1 Roos: 8, 37 Dont think the roos will find this appealing enough. Could be many variants around including 2027 picks. Essendon again unlikely due to 2 early picks. Perhaps a team like Collingwood, Geelong or St Kilda might look to move back into that range of the draft?- AFLW: Rd 11 vs Brisbane
Worst. Camera work. Ever.- 2025 AFL National Draft prospects: The next batch
Had forgotten about Tom Matthews. Looked very impressive late last year and certainly has a lot of tricks for a small forward. Wonder what injury has kept him out for most of this year.- Welcome to Demonland: Picks 7 & 8
My early guess for how the early part of the draft will pan out. Duursma - eagles CDT - eagles Robey - tigers Grjl - tigers X Taylor - bombers Sharp - bombers Potentially leaving us to pick from two of Cumming, Lindsay, Dovaston, Farrow, Schubert, Marsh, O Taylor, Greeves, NHH- MFC membership levels for noobs

On Gettable Cal says its unlikely clubs will be trading up in the top 10. Then he linked clubs with the following players, though sounded more like his thoughts on what clubs could do rather than proper mail. West Coast: CDT, Duursma Richmond: Grlj, Robey, Cumming, X Taylor Essendon: Robey, X Taylor, Sharp, Cumming, Farrow, Schubert- Realistic 23 for 2026
Gone down a somewhat youth path for this 23 so wont be our best team by any stretch. FB: Adams Petty Bowey HB: Howes Turner Jiath C: Windsor Langford Lindsay HF: Chandler JvR Tholstrup Ff: Jefferson Mihocek Fritsch R: Gawn Rivers Pickett I: Viney Heath Langdon Steele salem Can probably substitute Jefferson for Kentfield. Viney to spend more time in the forward line. We are in desperate need for a high pressure small forward. - The Sam Grlj Thread
