Tim Lamb is literally on the phone asking if Richmond had traded the pick to Carlton while Taylor and Goodwin are affirming our selections of Bowey and Laurie prior to the trade happening with Geelong. I'm sure we accounted multiple scenarios and pre-draft, but I don't see how anyone can say with any authority that we missed our targets after watching this video. You'd have to be on the recruiting team to say for certain.

There was some media speculation that we were keen on Holmes, however the draft video clearly refers to Bowey and Laurie as the two kids we were after as the best decision makers and kicks in the draft. Bowey and Laurie were mentioned by Taylor and Goodwin just prior to the Geelong trade, approximately 1 minute in the video below.

I'd be tempted to buck our trend of trading future firsts into the current draft and save the currency for Finn Callaghan who's out of contract next year. GWS are going to continue to bleed players, time for us to cash in.

Ah my bad, I was referring to Cadman rather than Ginbey. I do recall you mentioning earlier in the year about us talking to Ginbey prior to the champs. Our talent spotters really are on the ball.

Whitfield would be outstanding but doubt we have the salary cap space for his estimated 800k-1mil salary after bringing in Grundy.

Few permutations could come out of Bowes to Geelong. -Geelongs incoming 7 to freo for 13 and kangas future 2nd -Freos 7 and future first to Melbourne for Jackson Geelong will then have 13, 18 and kangas future 2nd which should facilitate deals for Bruhn and Henry easy enough, even if they throw their future 1st back to Suns. Depends if they want to take 7 to the draft or not I guess.

Also Melbourne have out-of-contract forward Toby Bedford, who has asked to be traded to GWS. Discussions on Monday centred around a deal for a pick in the third round. The Demons could also potentially offer Bedford and their pick 33 to GWS for pick 21, an exchange that would bring in a suitable pick to do the Grundy deal. We're turning over the list which is what a lot of people on here want. Hope we are smart about it though as Jackson, Hunt and Harmes were for the most part best 22 this year. Can't see Baker surviving either so I wonder if we do have a cheap depth player in sight rather than drafting 5-6 kids.

Clearly happy for Hunt to move on and disappointed in Bedford requesting a trade. Weideman won't be traded which makes sense as we need a back up ruck/forward option. Loved the comment about "there's first round picks and there's first round picks." Rammed home the message Jackson is a generational talent which gives me confidence that we will come away from this trade with at least 1 x top 10 pick. How that happens remains to be seen.

Random question, can't find the trade tracker on the afl website. Are they not doing one this year? Was, generally speaking, a pretty good way to easily keep track of movements but can only see links to the trade articles as they happen.

New trade fantasy because I'm bored. Essendon receive Bowes and pick 7 from GC. Eagles trade picks 2 and 20 to the Bombers for picks 4 and 7 Melbourne trade Jackson and 33 to Eagles for picks 4 and future 1st. Melbourne recieve: Pick 4, Eagles F1 Melbourne lose: Jackson, 33 West Coast receive: Jackson, pick 7 West Coast lose: pick 2 and 20, Future 1st Essendon receive: 2, 20 and Bowes Essendon lose: 4, 7 (Waste of time I know as he's going Freo but Eagles haven't been ruled out yet.)
