  1. You get the feeling he is channelling cousins...
  2. made a few calls - its done and dusted. Welcome to the MFC Toumpas...
  3. Read that and was probably one of the only things that made me equivocal about whether we'd take Toumpas over Wines as Ollie seems a hardened competitor. But Jimmy doesnt look bad either, can kick and will fill the hole left by he who will not be named.
  4. probably sexist, but basically in my experience the best looking chick supports go for the dees, saints and definately the blues. Once at the G a carload of top looking demons girls went passed yelling go dees and some bloke asked them to get their dees out for the dees. Sorry, but i told you it was sexist
  5. I hear Wines is expected to debut for whom ever picks him up on round 1 as well. Being that doggies, demons and GWS are the ones in the picture he would be good enough to also step right in.
  6. Lets be honest here folks - Neeld has said and I have heard from people associated with the club that they have been hoping to replace the speedie hole that Tom Scully left in our midfield when he did the unspeakable. However on the other hand, Neeld's view is that the number 1 thing he wants is a fierce competitor - no softies with talent or skinny kids that look great against kids, which tends to lean me towards Wines. If as another poster here suggests Toumpas has proven his metal against men then he is as good a demon. Its that simple. And add to that his great disposal which ticks another massive hole in our list and its pretty simple. I love Wines - he looks like a scary prospect and I think the club would have loved his competitiveness, but remember we have and have had a lot of mean inside midfielders but I cant really remember the last time we had a mid who could run, spread and dispose accurately with any great class. This year we had NO spread. None... Toumpas has a little bit of Trav Johnstone about him so I want to be sure the club is sure he has the fierce Neeld-style competitive fire or Id go for Wines, but otherwise its a done deal for mine. If Toumpas is gone however then Wines it is without a doubt.
  7. No to Stringer. Would be happy with Toumpas or Wines although i acknowledge we need speed, we need disposal accuracy more. Lots of inside midfielders wont change much, we need running class.
  8. A nothing story no doubt but may be of interest: Dee-light for gangster
  9. It all gets back to the fact that if Caro had any genuine primary evidence she would have revealed it. The best she could do was quote anonymous sources.
  10. The person I spoke to said that he is hard to read and not to take anything into body language etc.
  11. This kid is highly rated. it was mentioned somewhere that they expect with a full preseason he will be in our best 22 for round 1.
  12. Here is the reality of the situation - from a person who is an old sporting friend of Hogan. He is hard to read but he LOVES the culture so far at MFC. Thinks its highly professional, and has special praise for Nathan Jones (the hardest worker he has ever seen) and Mitch Clark who is helping him adjust. Hogan will be no Scully and he cannot wait to play for the club. Please dont make any assumptions based on his reserved attitude in some photos and comparisons to Scully. he's even keen to let people know that he loves the club so that more supporters get behind the side. if anyone has any doubts I can even link you via pm to the source of this information. It certainly made my day.
  13. From a reliable source (non club) that you can pm me for details if you wish - but I have been informed that Jesse Hogan loves the culture down at MFC, can see lots of young talent on our list and has special admiration for Nathan Jones (who he describes as the hardest worker he has ever seen) and Mitch Clark. He basically cant wait to play for the club. Thought I'd post for some good news about MFC. After the Scully fiasco its nice to know anyway.
  14. I must say now days I almost always agree with Jose, Ben Hur and a few others. I may as well stop posting?
  15. If u dont like it, do me a favour and dont reply...
  16. im thinking of the winery sponsorships of having both Wines and Viney in the same side.
  17. Ive got a really good feeling about Fitzy. He's been through a lot more than most and is still competing. I think he and Hogan might be our long term forwards in years to come.
  18. totally agree - no more skinny kids with potential talent given our track record and luck.
  19. If we are penalised - and Id like to reiterate my view that we wont be because there is a sparsity of hard evidence (and rather just varying recollections of a flippant comment made in 2009) - and that penalty is the loss of draft picks, such as our first two picks in the 2014 draft - how significant an impact do you believe it will have? Considering Neeld and others believe we already have a good core group of young talent coming through who need older players to support them, given that there are never guarantees that early draft choices will become great players and quite often they dont and some pretty good players have come through from other sources such as rookie listings, etc. Im really thinking that if we can keep our picks in this year's draft we might be ok long term even if we lose picks by utilising trades, rookie listing and picking up free agents and delistings with potential to top up our young talent?
  20. Great work finding that. Keep it handy and perhaps even email it to the club. Every bit of help cant hurt.
