I have heard Shane won’t be doing his Assistant Coach duties at Wesley College vs Trinity on Saturday as he will be in Melbourne. This isn’t from the horses mouth, but source is pretty good, so I suspect Taj will debut

Our season took a turn downward last season in Rd 11, with what was considered a surprise loss. Will the opposite occur this season in Rd 11, same venue and the same opposition. I don’t mind where we currently stand, we will learn a lot about some of our players in the next few weeks.

When that’s our form line on Demonland it means we haven’t beaten anyone

That’s what Kossie should be doing, but no not once, held back for a few that were there to attack. The video review won’t be kind or good for him, hopefully it’s a wake up call

Kossie, front and centre is your role, no forward pressure and half hearted efforts at several ground ball contests for a lot of tonight. Really poor

2023 AFL National Draft prospects: The next batch
Pennant St Dee replied to Whispering_Jack's topic in Melbourne Demons
Depends on whether West Coast trade down for 2 picks inside the top 10, which I think they will do if they get pick 1. Im hearing some clubs don’t have him in the top 5 -
2023 AFL National Draft prospects: The next batch

Curtin is 196cm, He is playing for the AIS this weekend against Carlton’s VFL side - well worth a look I have seen both Ginbey and Curtin up close and in their preparation and training. Love everything Ginbey brings, however Curtin has far greater scope to reach elite level as KPP or even as a big mid -

Claremont vs East Perth Colts on 6 May 2023 Claremont Daniel Curtin played through the midfield by Claremont ends with most disposals and BOG with significant impact. 26 possessions, 18 contested, 12 clearances and 10 tackles. I keep saying it this kid is a gun with so many strings to the bow SVR - not a great day for key talls with wet weather but continued to present and contest at ground level, kicked 1 and probably should have got at least 1 more Cody Angove - 2024 draft eligible played as the high half forward and created headaches for East Perth, really clean at ground level, numerous involvements in score assists and won plenty of contested footy. Small frame and size but really smart football brain East Perth Darcy Craven - just accumulated to get East Perth back into the game after quarter time and smart user of the footy got plenty of footy on the inside and fed it to the outside runners but also found himself involved on the outside Will Cassidy - like Craven got his hands dirty as the inside mid and got them back into the contest. Really good tank and can play inside or outside in the midfield but strength is more towards the inside game Alexio Yiannikis - small Charlie Spargo type forward who presents up the ground and makes smart decisions going inside 50. Has a knack of finding space and making decisions before getting closed down, kicked a gem from the boundary in tight space when it looked like the defender had done everything to force him wide and create a stoppage -

He’s not as highly touted as JVR was in his draft year but has really stepped up from last year to this year and is making up ground at a good rate. The youngest brother who is 15 this year I think is probably the most talented of the 3 -
Kozzy Pickett Re-Signs for 4 Years

Was he right, several ground balls he was hesitant and sat off when he’d usually be either first in at ground level or first to pounce on the defender. Thought he just wasn’t his usual self in last night’s game -

Strength is front and centre ground ball inside 50s which was poor tonight. Needs to stop flying with the big KPFs -
Don’t underestimate the win, we’re a fair way off our best but I’d like to see us not make to many changes and get some continuity to build and be hitting our best from Rd 16 onwards. Richmond brought serious heat tonight with their season on the line with 1 win thus far. They scrapped all night and played high tempo surge footy. They got numbers around the contest and looked to get it outside and surge before checking the inside 50 kick as we rolled back. Second half we got back to basics just getting it forward and then rolling up to force them to kick to contests. Clarry wasn’t his usual clean self but bought into getting it forward. Trac in the 4th was the same. JV awesome 4quarter effort May looks to me to be carrying a back issue mobility not great, carrying a little extra weight suggesting training program may be limited.

I don’t see anything in Reid’s highlights to suggest he’s any better than Sam Walsh, Will Ashcroft, JHF or Sheezel. Cal Twomey and all these draft experts get carried away with talking these kids up, Crows are thanking their lucky stars North didn’t accept their offer to get access to Pick 1 for JHF. -

Super round WAFL Colts today with 3 games at Pentanet Stadium (Joondalup home ground of West Perth) with plenty of recruiting staff present. Game 1 Claremont dominated against Subiaco with a 78 point win. Sam Van Rooyen put his name in view with his leading, second efforts and just outclassed his less experienced direct opponent, kicked 5 but missed a couple he should have kicked ending with 5.5 Dan Curtin - played higher up the ground as CHF and spent the second half playing through the middle, kicked 1 goal but showed his poise, class and versatility through the midfield Oscar Dees from Subiaco quiet day, given less room than his first 2 games and direct opponent really hurt him the other way with his spread Game 2 Peel got over the top of fast finishing South Fremantle by 1 point Not a highly contested game probably due to warm 31degree day, which allowed for very open game, South’s really wasteful with their delivery inside 50 just missing targets, Mitch Edwards dominating around the stoppages and showed some clean hands at ground level, definitely going first 2 rounds of the draft. Jacob Wahn playing free across half back for South’s showing a bit in the 2 games I’ve seen him this year. Game 3 Perth on the back of an 8 goal 2nd quarter got up by 35, but apart from the second quarter wasn’t a bad game. Mitch Keen mid from Perth continued with his good start to the year, kicking 3 to go with 19 touches. Coen Livingston the dominant big man on the ground at stoppage and CBDsbut only kicking 1. Will Cassidy and Darcy Craven from East Perth I thought for the most won the midfield battle and would love to get another shot at that second quarter. Quiet day from O’Driscoll. Michael Hall kicked 4 but 3 were in that dominant second quarter and 2 were down the ground frees -
Absolutely great post, I honestly believe the draft age needs to be lifted, so many players committing themselves to Yr11/12 study and just playing school or community footy and not committing to the elite pathways, whilst others for various reasons such as injury, work, family issues etc just don’t show at the 16-18 years of age window and the development cycle just focuses on the next groups coming through. And don’t get me started on the Athletes vs Footballers argument, I often refer to players when describing them as he’s just a footballer and people ask what do you mean but hard to explain but there are players who aren’t great runners, athletes and don’t standout as game breakers but there are just clean at ground level, see things on the outside and hit the option with clean hands or feet and don’t often try to hit the difficult option. They stand in holes to cut off easy options and move 15 to 20m to open space without any plaudits, they identify momentum and either slow the game down, impact the contest/make a statement or identify a need to just get it forward by whatever means possible. In summary they just get the game

Can’t see it being sunny Dubdee, not as it’s a night game

Why would we revert back to this when JVR who has performed the role since coming in is also playing

I first seen Koltyn play for Subiaco’s development squad as a 15 year old who was absolutely rag dolling defenders and he pretty much did that through junior and colts footy. You are correct that state 18s ( on mail heard) see him as a 3rd tall and if he can build the tank, could play as a mid. I didn’t see the Subiaco vs Perth senior’s last week so can’t really comment and would be surprised if he got a big run through the middle but I suspect WA 18s like with Ginbey last year May give him a run through there and see how he goes

Nev is from Carey Park in Bunbury, not exactly outback, but I do agree he is someone’s who will consider Kozzie’s best interests in any advice given. I was sitting near Byron at Optus on Sunday, good to see him looking happy and healthy and supporting both his nephew and the Dees -
Loved what I seen of Watson in the 18s championships last season
