  1. Will be there on Saturday with the 2 boys. Feel we need to turn up. Am dreading it a bit but not for the team's form or the result. I find Carlton supporters to be the most fickle, ignorant and uneducated on the game of football. They are massive gloaters yet turn on their own faster than Blease can run into trouble. I'm anticipating that we win the tackle count and I'll still hear 10 'bruise free' comments on the way back to the train. Morons.
  2. If that's the case then surely he would be put onto Rowe. Would you then leave Frawley in the forwards? I think Kent and Clisby are quite similar but Kent's tackle count was low last week. Get 10 tackles at Casey this week and put your hand back up for Gold Coast.
  3. Out: Byrnes, Kent & Pederson In: Garland, Dawes & Clisby Bail - Garlett McDonald - Henderson Georgiou - Waite Frawley - Rowe Vince - Robinson Terlich - Ellard Grimes - Simpson Viney - Murphy M.Jones - Yarran Forward line of Dawes, Dunn, Fitzpatrick, Howe with M Jones and Clisby at their feet.
  4. To quote our 6 year old. "But everybody loved him. I don't want a different favourite player, Mitch is the best"
  5. In an ideal world, we would cull 85% of our list and pay big bucks for some 'healthy' leaders in influential positions. Not all on-ballers. Unfortunately, unlike soccer or basketball, culling most of your squad takes years. You can't get rid of 26 players at the drop of a hat and replace them with anybody better. In the NBA it can take as little as 2 seasons to trade/delist everybody except 1 or 2 players that you feel deserve to stay. Football is very different in that respect. Roos would never commit to the amount of time it would take to rebuild this group. Sad really.
  6. And sorry if this has previously been mentioned but I bet Old Dee can't wait to see Bennell running out onto the G again. http://m.afl.com.au/news/2014-03-24/eagles-debut-was-beautiful
  7. Howe summed up our main issue on Saturday night when he said we needed to lower our eyes. The ONLY directed kick into our forward 50 was his kick to Byrnes in the 2nd quarter. It stayed low and it was simply a matter of it being kicked to Byrnes' side of the contest. The rest if the entries were high bombs that gave st kilda defenders about 10 seconds to swarm the drop zone. Not even Howe himself could jump over a pack of 15 players and take a clean grab. The delivery better improve when the talls come in.
  8. You would have to forgive any Demonlanders who are feeling more than slightly nervous. We don't have a good track record when it comes to 'indefininite leave'
  9. Hope this doesn't increase the passion they'll play with in Round 1 next season ala Port Power 2012.
  10. Because the Semi-Final rematch (Pies & Power) is at the G that afternoon.
  11. Why is Crouch's draft profile on the MFC website?
  12. Bagshaw! Dead set champion. Went to uni with his son who sadly shied away from football due to the huge, dark shadow of expectation that preceded him. Great bloke.
  13. Wow. The term dog's breakfast comes to mind. Did they make these changes because they were sick of having just 3 quality teams or did this decision come from higher up the chain?
  14. Lived in the Berra for my young adult years. Which club are you with? Is that ACTAFL or Monaro League. (Don't even know if they're called that anymore tbh). There was a big connection with the basketball guys and Eastlake for a while.
  15. How delightfully opinionated. Disagreement noted.
  16. How so? Girls footy really is rougher than boys footy. They smash each other like crazy.
  17. Probably over-qualifies you tbh. Girls footy is tough.
  18. Played a lot of footy as a kid in Adelaide. Got to the age of 15 and had to choose basketball or football as top level opportunities came in. It was Senior State League for basketball and South Adelaide u17s for football. As the basketball gig was a higher level I chose that. Some days I wish I didn't but I made it to the pros for one year so I shouldn't complain. Played some amateur footy after I retired from basketball both in Canberra and here in Melbourne in short spurts and loved it but the knees ain't what they used to be.
  19. This narrows it down a bit. http://m.afl.com.au/news/2013-10-22/cats-out-at-night-in-2014
  20. Technically, these are the same thing. Maybe strata E to strata D?
  21. The Hawks can't play the Swans and neither can we. I knew I'd read this somewhere. http://m.afl.com.au/news/2013-10-09/giants-set-for-home-opening-in-2014
  22. Apologies. I thought the new tradition was for Syd to play GWS round 1.
  23. With the release of the draw looming and with a renewed sense of confidence brewing, who would you like to see us take on for Round 1, 2014? Obviously we can rule out Syd, GWS, Carl and Rich. Chances are it will be a bottom 8 side too. Thoughts?
