I dont think early second... But I don't think a third round pick gets it done, especially this year. You and I had this exact same discussion last year actually. I think in hindsight GWS should have gone after him last year and offered their 2020 second round pick.

A frustrating player. Goes missing frequently. Doesn't push into up the wing enough like Kent could. When he gets the ball he usually looks great but the problem is that he doesn't get it enough. Have watched him at live games working really hard to create chances for himself. He is sort of a combination of Fritsch, Spargo and Melksham and I can't see a spot for him in the best 22. Do we hold onto him for depth when we have so many other similar players? I would prefer to bring someone who can push into the midfield for extra run.

Is there speculation we are into Smith? I'm really not a fan of being the retirement home for old players unless we pick them up for virtually nothing. Smith would be a short term fix.

I've mentioned it before in this thread. I would love Xavier O'Halloran from GWS. We might need to throw in a small sweetener to get it over the line. Otherwise, I think the club should be looking at future picks and continue avoiding this draft.

I wouldnt even define Harmes role in 2017 as a 'hard tag'. He was certainly playing as a defensive mid, but he would get enough of his own ball to hurt the opposition. It was a great role for him and often left the opposition 'star mid' looking foolish for not paying him enough respect.

The trade eventually included Rivers. But we gave up our second round pick as part of the North trade. We could have used that pick on Rivers So it really is Pickett vs Serong. Rivers should not be included when evaluating the individual trade.

After Goodwins first year we changed the game plan to move the ball quicker by foot rather than with run. Seeing Jayden running with the ball went against the plan as much as we (the supporters) loved it. To make it worse he would often run himself into trouble or kick long with little accuracy. He fell out of favour and has looked like half the player he was. He could be delisted this year which is unbelievable considering how good he looked in 2017.

Bizarre that we were playing a crippled TMac for so long ahead of him. Truly some odd team selections this year

At about round 8 I would say we couldn't afford to drop him. Every time I see him recently I feel like throwing something at the tv. Can't believe how much I was looking forward to watching how his season was going to play out.

The only thing I can think is that the umps think we play for frees and aren't paying them Edit: whilst saying that... The umpires have been terrible both ways. Some really bizarre calls/non-calls. Melksham with 2 of the most obvious throws you will ever see not called come to mind

Ok. After expecting a big year his whole season has been disappointing. At least he was hitting the scoreboard early in the year. His soft efforts stick out more and cannot be tolerated if he isn't hitting the scoreboard. Laying tackles has got to be a non negotiable.

Remember under Roos when there was a focus on not fumbling? And defence?
