GAMEDAY: Rd 02 vs St. Kilda
Spargo a liability - won’t be convinced otherwise

GAMEDAY: Rd 02 vs St. Kilda
What’s simple Simon going to do? Obviously wait until half time to have a nice chat by the look of it.

Rivers panics by hand - got to learn to take a tackle instead of gifting to opposition

How Important was Spargo
I just don't see it. He was awful versus Doggies in community cup - surprised he held position in team - just doesn't have the speed or skill to overcome height deficiency - when one on one on the flanks gets out marked with ease and can't even halve contest. Unfortunately can't see a future for him - particulary if Bowey or Laurie develop into players.

Who is our midfield leader?
Oliver - done.

Centre Clearances
Centre bounce chemistry has been an issue for a number of years - we just don’t get an advantage from Gawns ruck work - and looking at the numerous combinations running through the middle yesterday I’m not sure we’ll develop the chemistry. I couldn’t believe how many fringe players started in the middle - we had Sparrow, Jones, Harmes, Jordan, Nibbler, Hunt, Kossie - all attended numerous centre bounces and they had no impact other than Nibbler who actually had 3 clearances. I think Sparrow had more centre bounces than Brayshaw - for zero clearances. I get fresh legs and multiple people being able to run through the the middle - but numerous times we put the B graders in the guts and just watched Freo walk out of the middle from Gawns tap. Only stick them in the guts if they are good enough to clear it!!!

Sparrow, Jordan and Nietschke
Sparrow doesn't cut it - hard and tought but for a bloke with average speed and average skills (at best) he needs to be a massive natural ball accumulator - ball magnet like the crouch brothers - but he's just not - just doesn't read play well enough to compensate for average elements in game.

Training Ground?
Should go straight to Fisherman's bend - the Govt desperate to fasttrack commercial development into this prescinct.
-
Ryan Larkin departs Melbourne.
Non-solicitation clause obviously not in Josh M’s contract - amateur hour at the Dee’s.....
-
Email from the Board
Regarding facilities, I still think Eddie Maguire had the best idea - in setting up a new site at Port Melb / Fisherman’s bend. The govt want to develop the whole fisherman’s Ben’s area with housing schools, shops etc - and we should have got them to fund sporting facilities.

Jesse Hogan on the way out at Freo?
Bring him back. Mick Malthouses best coaching trait was to get the best out of individuals - those that weren’t overly professional but could play footy - the rat pack. I’d rather have Jesse getting into strife three times a year and kicking 50 goals than have ANB be uber professional, win the time trial but be unable to hit a target 25m away. It doesn’t have to bring down the standards of the whole group if we’ll managed and coached. Give the coaches a challenge and bring him back!!

Farewell Jesse Hogan
That’s just a reflection of how ridiculous the WA govt are in relation to COVID - move on.
-
Alex Neal-Bullen
I would keep him rather than getting a speculative 3rd round pick - think he can continue to develop, play a role as a defensive forward.

Crows Attempting to Poach Darren Burgess
Being on a one year deal - what's Josh M and Pert being doing recentlty if they value the bloke - should be tied down contractually by now - amateur hour.

Who should our next coach be?
Clarko Mark Williams Ross Lyon

Dee's Finances
I believe we recently had the Bentleigh Club valued as a 12 block residential sub division - valuation was c. $18m. Asset rich..... income poor.

I think Omac been more effective and composed with the ball than Lever.

Don Scott Claims Hawks Cheated Salary Cap
This is old news. I've heard Dermie talk about Hawks employing players wives to do nothing. It was another era where I guarantee you any club with the cash would have been doing it.
-
Goodwin shows some emotion...finally
Finally knows his best team..... and not his best on the training track
-
Stacking the Defence
Salary cap and first round picks belong for key fwds or gun midfielders - never backs or undersized rucks! I consider we’ve wasted another 4 first round picks in lever, may and Jackson - Those picks should have seen us pushing for flag in a couple of years.

Garry Lyon: "Melbourne Supporters are Gutted"
Gary and Derm both spot on, we can all see the following :- - we’ve a midfield issue - they can all win contested footy but lack foot skills and footy smarts - team selection has been sporadic and poor under goody - He’s no idea of best team or fwd structure - we’ve invested big in the wrong part of ground - you trade 1st round picks and salary cap for gun midfielders or tall fwds - not backs - we’ve overestimated list, including trading away 1st pick this year - we’ve invested pick 3 in an under sized ruck we didn’t need - just too dumb for words - players not learning / changing under coaches real question is what are the board going to do about it??

Demonland Podcast Featuring Glen Bartlett Wednesday 1/7 @ 8:30pm
Are there KPI's linked to Goody's contract extension? And if not, why not after having to pay out previous coaches contracts?
