  1. Don't know if this has been posted before but oh well, high praise from the Captain..... Jones said Oliver was “as tough as I’ve seen a kid come into the game”. “Cyril’s not one you want to run into and probably that hit [on Oliver in the first quarter] – I was pretty close by – was the most flush I’ve seen someone get nailed before,” he said. “To Clarry’s (Oliver) credit, he got back up and he actually got into Cyril [Rioli] later in the game. “That shows he’s willing to dish it out, but can also take it, so it’s a promising sign for us. These promising young players that are coming through, they’re made of the right stuff...."
  2. Glad to see some are seeing things as they are leaco. And great to see the week on Sicily , definitely deserved that
  3. There's no shame playing for Casey for a week or 2 to work on things Pates. If it's good enough for a seasoned veteran like Cloke and guys like Pedo then it won't hurt an up and coming KPF early in his career. The extra time and space might do his confidence the world of good, and his tank assuming they only play him for about 80% game time or so. Might freshen him up a little also. He isn't crashing packs and hitting in quite as hard as he was earlier this season in marking contests IMO. Understandable given the length of season and how taxing today's game is, especially on a young and still developing bod. The break worked well for Clarry. Don't see any difference here other than a potential ego dent to the man himself. Roosy obviously the best person to man manage these issues. As I said I suspect he will be straight in for Pedo if fully fit.
  4. That is correct. He also needs to show he can improve his lead up work rate. Too one dimensional/predictable inside 50 for mine and sits back waiting for the long kick to the hot zone too often. Still does some good work up the field which I realise is handy and taxing on the tank but that's not his role surely (through the mid and suring up the defence as an extra). last 3 games or so haven't been great. His kicking accuracy outside 40 meters is also pretty ordinary as is the method. Has aspects of his game to work on. Better to do those at Casey under less pressure and will have more time to execute also and experiment with altered kicking method, running patterns/work rate. To be a genuinely effective forward in future he must change and correct that kicking style outside 40. Imagine him shooting for goal in the last minute of play in a crucial final using his current method...gadzooks!! ? ? Wont happen though the FD/ Roos will probably be worried about the effect on a potential new contract if they don't pick him should he be right to go (if he hasn't decided to go already....and I suspect he has). As Nasher said they will more than likely make the change. No changes for me ....when your on a good thing, The FD & Roos will see it diff of course In: Hogan Out: Pedersen (Harmes the only other risk bit didn't see last Casey match so who would the replacement be.... ANB didn't work at AFL level last time)
  5. As long as it's in the act of flying for speckies I have no problem with him getting horizontal Ted!
  6. You guys are all gonna put the mozz on 'Magic' Clarry if ya don't ease up! Shhhhhh .... ? ~ Spits 3 times and throws salt over shoulder
  7. Clint I would be pretty happy with that shirt front if it was the other way around. Nothing wrong with it and no harm done. Same with the Mitchell slap. An annoying love tap...no big deal. Bit like the other Sammy (Newman) slap from decades ago that they always show on the Footy show for a laugh. Wattsy didn't worry too much either and just got on with things?? ??
  8. Saty your beard was bushier than Big M's at one point. He has outgrown you!
  9. Have i had one or two too many or is there some resemblance to Mathew Lloyd here....
  10. Growing a beard while watching replay for 2nd time with pooch and a frothy. Bloody brilliant!
  11. You don't touch a premiership worthy epic performance like that where everyone played their role and you beat the AFL's best by nearly 5 goals (unless there's a forced injury). NO CHANGE! Lets go for 3 in a row boys and keep the Roosy's big send off "end of season (ALOHA) bash" going!!!
  12. Chook i would have agreed with you on occasions this year but he played a very different role to his usual this week with a fair amount of time through the mid and HFF. Think they wanted him to use his pace and get some time and space on the Hawks and also put a bit of perceived or actual pressure on their runners out wide. I reckon it worked on occasions and at one stage he hit a fabulous pass coming i50 on the run on the angle from deep in the flank at full tilt. 4 inside 50s. There was also a 3 on 1 in the last at the top of the square where he contested against much bigger bods and managed to spoil seeing the ball hit the deck. There was no one front and square unfortunately and the Hawks ran it out fairly easily but he still committed himself against the odds. While he was far from great i don't think he has earned a tap this week.
  13. 6. Big M - Epic 5. Viney - BOG performance on any other day. Him and Big M must have some sort of ESP going! 32 effective disposals running at 82% efficiency. Thats about 16% better than his usual average. Finally cleaned up his general disposal and look at the result! 4. Tyson - Involved in so many chains and passages of play. Start hitting more targets with less hang time/short accurate passes and he will be elite. 3. Clarry - Quiet first quarter and a half. Blossomed after & involved in many scoring chains, usually with a first classy clearance setting the next player up. The most clearances on the day 8, and 11 tackles woot! Welcome back son! 2. Jones - A few horrible clangers but some gutsy inside work and usual stoic performance. 11 tackles and 6 clearances. 1. Watts - Cream came to the top in the clinches and some of those spearing inside 50 hit ups in the last and the give off to Tyson in the pocket when getting tackled by 2 Hawks when many were tiring was epic. Apologies to O-Mac, Tmac, Vince, Stretch, Kent, Bugg and all players. That was a premiership worthy effort fellas. Keep it going and lets bash those DHs in Adelaide up next week.
  14. You aren't alone. I know someone who works at the G on game days. Said the Hawk supporters are the most arragont by a long way and their grog squad often instigates most of the trouble on the day. I haven't seen/heard worse other than the Saints when we played em in the finals during Diamond Joe's era. Some of the lowest stuff I've ever heard at the G that night and I was no saint in my early years there ? I remember poor old Gary Hardeman sat near our group one day with his kids. Lasted about 3 minutes ?
  15. With Dad in hospital and looking the worse for wear I decided to take mum in and get around the old fella. So glad I did as we got him out of bed for first time in a few weeks, sat him up and we listened to most of the match together while I got some decent sustenance into him. He's a Blues fan but also loosely followed the Demons through the Barrasi years and then when he went over to the Dark (navy blue) side! Even said he carried Ron's bag into Princess Park on his first day, Ron changing into full Carlton regalia to address the charges as fully fledged Blues captain/coach. I couldn't wipe the smile off Dad's face when we hit the front in the last and went on with it and he even shed a tear of joy as we sung the song at the end. To Mr Roos and the boys thank you for making today a special day for my dad. I wish I could have been there but it's still a day I will never forget. I salute you. One small but very important step for the boys.... one meaningful leap for the Club and its long suffering supporters! The Mighty Demons are back!!!
  16. I'm very relieved but for different reasons. I thought for a moment you were gonna say ... "I'm Relaxed, we've got this"... ~ Wipes brow
  17. Very inexperienced so always going to be ups downs and inbetweens. Roos has brought in solid culture in training, processes and also surrounded the boys with great support/assistants. Thank goodness we have moved on from the ugly Neeld era. Just need a few extra senior bods with skills to bolster decision making, execution and on field leadership
  18. Probably Balls. They seem to push the versatility thing alot nowdays. I agree he looks better forward of centre. As you said we already have too many turnover kings in our back half atm. Nev's about the only reliable one although there has been some Marginal improvement in last few weeks from the likes of Frost, Omac & Hunt on their earlier stats. Coming off a pretty low base though. Our general short/medium kicking skills need a massive improvement amongst many players on this list if we Are to start winning against the top 8 clubs
  19. Harmes to me is more of an inside player than Matty. disposal a bit dirty/ugly at times but can be effective with some clearances. Matty def a better receiver/runner on the outside. Would need to review recent matches to see if Matty is hitting targets inside and pulling trigger a fair bit instead of taking safer up line or lateral/backward options too often. My hazey recollection is that Matty Also tends to panick dispose of ball at times with occasional hospital handballs that probably count as effective but place his mates under huge pressure where they get immediataly tackled. Along with that corageous mark, Harmes also won the contested footy at 50 in the last quarter and handed off to Hunt for the kick to Watts for the winning goal. Also cost us a goal earlier in the match with an insane lateral 'squeeze' kick straight to a Sons player inside 50 . Could argue the other clearance chain he was involved in for the Watts goal was the square off. Harmes also bangs in pretty hard at times which Roosy probably likes. Harmes is no lock in vs Matty though and wouod need to keep improving to maintain his place.
