  1. He stood up big time Ted. Forgot about him. Even Weidering made a reasonable fist of it after coming back on.
  2. Thought Seton, Silvagni and Palmer weren't too bad either titan. Cripps not bad also but obviously not news to anyone.
  3. The Blues aint as bad as some of the pundits have been suggesting. Some serious talent starting to bob up.
  4. What a win over the Drugsters by the Blue Baggers!!! Haven't enjoyed a win like that since our last win!
  5. Beggars cant be choosers AF. If Hibberd and Frost can get on the park we wont need him in defence. Straight replacement for Weids atm and chop out in the ruck. Not a long term solution but plays a role for a given period till we find/develop better or weids is ready etc. Who knows Peds might improve also. Who are we to place a player in a box and say he can't improve with age/experience? He does only have 60 games under his belt but still a valuable 60 games of experience. If we can get Peds fit he just might be the ideal foil for Hulk up forward as the 2nd tall stringer and as the resting ruckman for some of the time, Watts still doing his little cameos here and there on the odd occasion also when Peds is playing forward and Spencil (Maxy) resting..
  6. Not on that basis AF but a decent tall who can play multiple roles, one of them as the chop out for Max/Spencil when resting, is a non-negotiable if we are to make finals this year.
  7. Thought i saw Hunt grow an extra leg yesterday if that's possible! What a performance from the young bloke. Seemed to get better and better as the game went on also. The last 10 he petered out like most others. Plenty of Kudos for Melksham and T-Mac down back who i thought played their part superbly under all sorts of pressure.
  8. For us or the whole comp DT!?? I didn't walk away happy small. Maybe i was on the wrong amber or something. Pretty sure they water it down a little at these venues now
  9. A great summary of our 2nd ruck problem Macca. Had we had a genuine 2nd option to just evened up most of the contests against Smith & Blics for the 2nd half yesterday, this would have freed up Watts to play his usual "Quarterback" role around the ground and up forward. We would have probably won this match 7 out of 10 times with Watts running rampant. I say probably though as i have never seen such ugly set shot kicking as i saw yesterday from so many players. We may still have kicked ourselves out of it.
  10. He is going to make more mistakes under the extra fatigue from rucking which you are probably alluding to BB. I would rather have him out of constant resting ruck duties with the exception of sharing some around the ground ruck work up forward when spencil/maxy (or Ped) are on the bench. I realise yesterday was a one off (hopefully) but by allowing Watts to execute at his optimum he can finish off his good work in general play to maximum effect. We will be the beneficiary of what happens as a result and mostly on the scoreboard. Along with the Jones boy and Clarry he has the highest score chain involvements most weeks, yesterday excluded due to the unexpected ruck commitment. We are going to suffer on the scoreboard when he is rucking in the center bounces although there are of course times when he will retrieve when the ball hits the deck and impact. But still.... just rotate through the middle as a tall mid fielder and get maximum impact pls.
  11. 6. Watts (4.20* / 8th *nil rucking stats included) 6. The Jones Boy (6.13 / 1st) 4. Hunt (4.88 / 5th) 3. ANB (5.30 / 3rd) 2. Clarry (5.33 / 2nd) 1. Kent (4.38 / equal 6th with Stretch) Apologies to Stretch
  12. Thx Mr C. Is there any summary of best players from last nights shortened match by any chance?
  13. Some good points Lucifer. Just on Trac he did reasonably well but would just like to see him grab the high bouncing ball more often when it's his to do so rather than so many attempted clever netball spikes. Some of his spikes today resulted in another disputed ball under pressure and occasionally a turnover where we were punished. Sometimes the best option is to take possession, even if you're gonna be tackled immediately. Other times the occasional spike or bunt to advantage might work but depends on the where/when and who is around. A split decision I realise and very hard to always make the right one under heat of a match and easy for me to say from the cheap seats but needs to play the percentages here and go for the stoppage if in doubt. Especially when the loose ball's in a risky part of the ground in congestion.
  14. Overall I agree AF but always room for improvement. Won that count against the Blues. Equaled the cats today but lost it against the Saints. There's a few forwards bringing the heat inside 50 when we haven't got it and there's a few that haven't so far. Also agree it was also a horrible day in front from most. This, the loss of Big M, and some sub par performances from a few individuals, cost us the match today.
  15. We have worse offenders than Vanders in front of goal Af. Having said that I'm not saying Vanders is a great kick either but the guy is at least a competitive beast and provides a decent marking option i50 and can stick a tackle. A mile ahead of Hannan at this point, which he should be given the number of games played. Can also rotate him through the mid field in very limited doses.
  16. If he did it must have been the shortest course ever Fire!
  17. Agree he hasn't been anywhere near his best in these first 3 matches. May need a rethink and complete review of where he's at and going. The current method/style is just not effective enough for long enough. Tyson also had a mare, apart from a few cameos in the last . Only his 2nd match but was a real concern out there tonight. Had no impact at all.
  18. Depends on what you mean by "finally there" RP? We were unable to stem coast to coast joe the goose goals on a number of occasions and looked pretty shakey down back. The way we delivered inside 50 was also pretty ordinary most of the time IMO. Other teams will be licking their lips at the prospect of playing our backline, Tmac, Hunt and Nev the exceptions.
  19. Pretty sure you did bro. Anyway you look at it it was individually the most deemorilising piece of indiividual play on the day. I had nightmarish flashbacks of the Jack Fitpatrick tunnel ball as soon as he turned 180 and kicked it over Omac's head
  20. One of greatest games he has played but should never be put in that position (in terms of rucking for so long) again Trac. We need to find a back up to Big M, and quickly. No other team would play their best ball user in the ruck for such extensive stints (someone of watts size i mean). He could also incur a serious injury doing so given the size/weight discrepancy
  21. you're effectively saying a miss on goal in a soccer sense or off the cross bars etc has the same level of impact on a teams psyche as an own goal, and not an accidental one, say kicking back to the goalie and it goes through his hands etc for a horribilis own goal. Sorry but but i cant see how they are equal Nasher. We'll agree to disagree on that one.
  22. I agree he shouldnt be hanged Nasher for one offence but from where i was sitting it was much worse than missing a set shot on goal which most others did throughout the game also not just Kent & Viney, including ANB. Teams can handle a few misses but the debacle in front of goals today killed offany chance of winning collectively. Topped off with the equivalent of an own goal by ANB. The own goal surely outweighs the others In terms of individual horribilis IMO .
  23. Thought he was reasonably solid Mr Fence, apart from starting the rot with the first set shot miss (i think!) And the brain fade backwards to Oscar . Maybe i was too far away for half the match being at city end goals and missed some unviewable (for me) ugly stuff up the other end.
