  1. The problem was LD that aside from the times he was pushing alot further up the ground ie; beyond the centre square (later rounds) Fritshkreig was completely innefective down back, directly leaking about 15 goals if these numbers are on. And that was up to about Rnd 15 or so before being moved forward. Might have hit some sort of record had Goody kept playing him there. I get the idea of trialing him there for a few games but to persist for nearly 4 months when it was obvious it wasn't clicking from about Rnd 5ish...hmm.
  2. I have no doubt Mr Leg. I am just seeking an edge which we haven't had for 55 years or so, barring a few years under Swooper. He might be the perfect foil for Macca and prove me wrong should he end up in a the inner sanctum.
  3. Richo is probably a very nice fellow but i'm not sure we really need, or can afford to pay for, a failed coach from another failed club with a long history of failing.
  4. Might have a hard time convincing him to leave here AD...
  5. In an interview on SEN about Rnd 7 or so W4, Tommy was asked this & what was up re his ordinary form. He said he was cherry ripe. No fitness issues. Just a form issue. He then asked for any advice from the two interviewers (semi tongue in cheek), one of them was Rooey so he was probably genuinly interested in the response here. Don't shoot i'm just the baton.
  6. Delivery inside 50 certainly and defensive two way stuff for sure but a failed forward line hasn't helped with their ability to recover in time (aerobically & just covering the ground in time) SW. Improve the latter (FL) in a big way, some outside class and speed. May, Hore, Lever, Nev, hopefully less turnovers im key areas from Frosty and we just might have one of the top defences in 2020. Maxy, Clarry, Harmes, Tracc, Salem a bit of Melk (part time) a raw but developing Dunkley. Add two classy outsiders to assist Harmes. Maybe one more classy inside/outside mid who can kick goals on the run and hit targets coming inside. The two concerns for mine Viney & Gus. Both can be your biggest asset one quarter then major turnover kings the next.
  7. Midfield is going alright though SW. Outside quality run / finish missing and a few decent forwards needed also to compliment these areas. Tracc & Gus more time in the mid field should boost the inside a tad also with Jones vacating.
  8. Thanks a heap Frap. Finally some more meaningful stats that highlight some key insights into areas of strengths and unfortunately so many weaknesses. Some of the main things that stand out for me... > The Tiges werent that far away from us at the peak of their injuries. However, the deeper quality of their list stood them in better stead. Nothing new but nice to see it confirmed. > James Harmes is the only player at the Dees ranked in the top 50 (49th) for average handball receives per game, which is an indicator of outside run. For context, Richmond have 6 players in the top 50; Collingwood have 8. ....No wonder we can't connect with all the hard and decent (AFL competitive) extraction work in the middle. There's virtually no one outside of Harmes to link up with on a regular basis. Harmes sometimes goes under the radar but here's the proof of what he brings. A rare commodity at D'land. > Forgetting the top 5 attendees for a moment, our best centre bounce player by a huge margin is....Jake Melksham. His clearance differential is 31.4, next best is Petracca (16.7), then Jones, and then to Brayshaw .... playing Brayshaw out of position for such large chunks is robbing Peter. Tracc needs to come into a major role here also to take up the gap that's occured since Jones was moved to a more defensive role. I believe Goody recognised this late and we saw him playing significantly more time here after the bye. This pretty much confirms my earlier thoughts that anyone believing we will just miraculously turn around our forward situation with the same KFs next year is in for a rude shock. T-Mac is a 2nd stringer and Weid depth only right now. > Bailey Fritsch has cost us the most amount of points from turnovers this year. His 66 turnovers for the year (ranked equal 94th in the league)have cost us 89 points directly, which is ranked 4th in the comp. ... anyone who still thinks we shouldn't have swapped anyone else capable of providing a contest in order to get Fritschkreig back to his usual forward role after it was obviously clear it wasn't working (from about Rnd 5 vs the Saints) may wish to to visit their local brain surgeon.
  9. Bedford a medium term MAYBE at this point. At least another season at Casey away from impacting (or thereabouts) IMV. A big yes to the rest of your post AND Roosts highlighted bit below. We have been too immobile for years for too many blocks of matches. Major injection of movement needed aka Fritschkreig & a little from Petty on Sat night. Melk in 2020. Why im super keen on Cameron. He offers the mobility and goal smarts and can clunk them anywhere playing outside the arc & in/around the goal square. I know we wont get him but a Lynch/Cameron/Himmelburg type is a huge must along with a few quality small forwards. Courtesy of NIC NEGREPONTIS via SEN (apologies if posted/discussed previously guys) ...."Unfortunately for key forward Jon Patton, a minor setback has delayed his return from a torn ACL last year. He was set for a return via the NEAFL, but that has been pushed back by up to three weeks. “With Patton, he was about to return a couple of weeks ago, we’ve just had a couple of minor little setbacks at training and just the final piece of the puzzle in terms of returning to play,” he said. “That might be in a few weeks time. “We were going smooth sailing there, but then we just had a couple of little setbacks so it might be another two or three weeks, but it’s hard to put a timeline on that.” End.
  10. Meant to respond to these earlier... When speaking of the broader issue surrounding the why we are where we are etc and why do certain players lack the confidence / basic skills to do the 'normal' that most other clubs get right etc... I would refrain from using the ANB horror handball in the square as a 'general' example. While ANB is not alone and i appreciate he runs his butt off, tries his best and has done more than most of us in making it to AFL, he is also renowned for having the odd brain fade or two (or more occasionally) in every other match or so. He's been doing it for years so not a good example of the "what is happening to our team" discussion. It's just what you get when you play ANB regardless of the coach, game style, year etc.
  11. Commitment has ebbed away coinciding with issues around the Jones negotiations maybe Kent. Once that starts happening a few others begin to ask why also. If 'we' know there's supposedly a bit of an issue then you can bet the leadership group knew ages ago. The rest of the players down the line gradually learning or hearing the rumours not long afterwards. It's the sort of thing that can destroy a club. Jnr Mac treatment a classic example. Jones was of course playing when all that went down as well. Let's hope history isn't repeating itself in a similar fashion down at demon HQ.
  12. Unfortunately Corey had only 6 effective disposals and that was offset by 8 turnovers Buck. So a negative net result on that side. He did lay 5 tackles and kicked a goal which is a good effort. However zero clearances and one percenters might inidicate he didn't impact much with pressure elsewhere or with his ability to get to many coal face ground ball contests. Alternatively this may have been the result of the task/role he was asked to play on the night. Nuances which are often missed within statistics. Keep in mind like all such models there is a fair degree of subjectivity. I destest turnover kings and punish them accordingly with a negative factor included as part of the player's overall net weighted score. When you are looking at Clarry's score it is constructed using the exact same weighting method as Corey's which means all his crazy handball turnovers (and any others) are captured. So yes your eyes are not deceiving you. Clarry is that good he more than makes up for the turnover factor with his general 'other' work and output. I'm afraid Pruess has been found out as not ready at this level yet in the last two matches he has played. I think his ruck work in the middle is actually not bad. Around the ground he is bog ordinary. Clunking his marking attempts more often would help his confidence a little as well. Some major work required in the off season for the big fella if he is to make it at this level me thinks.

  15. Agree re JKH getting a go LG. Stretch is better than a few others running around out there as you say. But unfortunately some won't make the grade, assuming we want to make it to the main event. If not then just keep on keeping on with the NQRs and we'll never get the elusive silverware and fab players like Maxy, Clarry and Harmes's careers will be [censored] down the toilet. Our ladder position pretty much tells the tale. List needs a major overhaul if we are to take advantage of the likes of Maxy, Clarry, Salem and start kicking some decent "winning" scores. If May, Lever, Hore, Jetta and Frost fire up without injuries next year we'll do ok down back. No issues there. Need some quality run, speed and finish on the outside. An accurate KF who can clunk regular marks and a couple of quality small forwards which we are desperately missing ATM. I wont go in to game style and coaching issues which i've covered infinitum already. Nothing we say here will change the leopard in the coaching box anyway. They have their own style and methods. We'll just have to suck it up for the next year and see what happens.
  16. Have to agree to disagree 3183 Could have used / triallled one of our better contested marks, with the strength to win one on one ground balls when the ball hits the ground in Tracc. Tracc was having little to no impact up forward in first half of the season. Both Tracc & Fritschkreig were off their 2018 levels of output up to the half way mark by 20% plus and could have done with the change up, even as a trial for a few matches. Goody tried zip with Fritta to amend his poor form down back until very late in the season with nothing to gain/lose. Or moved Tracc into the middle for longer stints/share this with Jones, play Salem in the HB role, again allowing Fritta to go forward in his usual role. Weid & T-Mac completely innefective up forward. Roll either of them through Fritta's posi and swap to try and get something happening up forward and the scoreboard ticking over. Plenty of options if the coach thought about it and was willing to trial them in training and match day. Outside of Tracc who started to play a tad more time through the middle as the seaaon progressed (tank slowly inproving....not sure why it needed 8 to 10 matches to do so!!??) and the odd block of minutes with T-mac in a defensive role, Goody played them in their same (or similar) positions / roles up to the half way mark and by that stage the season was pretty much shot. While definetely restricted in terms of options, part of what sorts the ordinary from the good and the great is the ability to use one's imagination and adapt. Clarko probably one of the best at doing so. Worlds away in terms of experience but Goody is in to his third season and the "proactive" signs aren't great. Too reactive till this point IMHO.
  17. I think you mean a quality tall forward DZ. Unfortunately they dont grow on trees and everyone wants them. Being a minnow club also means it is difficult to attract them and the AFL's free agency model ensures the stronger clubs just get even stronger (eg, Lynch to the Tigers, Ablett Jnr back to the Cats, Frawley over to the Hawks etc etc). Never thought i would say this but in just a few matches Petty has looked more like a decent forward in work rate, general craft and finish than either of Weid and T-mac (other than his last match) in an entire season. Might not be getting alot of attention right now though so not getting overly excited either. We also need two super competitive speedy smalls to crumb, feed off any talls and pressure inside 50 so we can lock the ball in for more than just the initial entry. The ease at which the opp has escaped this year is frightening.
