  1. Pretty sure that won't pay the costs of running this site GYM
  2. Sorry Macca but that is not entirely historically accurate.
  3. Agreed would make a fab game day analyst in the box. Not only insightful but bloody quick on his feet!
  4. Ditto Pit. Let's hope so...preferably in my lifetime!
  5. Give the Big P some time Bing. Might not make the step up but 14 games is hardly enough time. I'm not that optimistic either but he is 2 meters or so and a massive WIP. Hore has one very ordinary game from 12, most of them top 10 performances and our best defender for the year after weeks out with a collarbone in his first season and you want to highlight his first game back? Fake news Bing. Not sure if you've been watching his other matches.... Given you are highlighting his stats... Barring another week like Friday, he is likely to finish in our top 10 for the year and the No.1 defender for the season on averages.... No.1 Intercept player ahead of our big name recruits Lever and May. 2nd in rebound 50s only bettered by Salem with four seasons plus and buiding. 5th in 1%ers. 7th for contested marks....only bettered by Lever down back with seasons of experience behind him. 9th in meters gained. 13th in effective disposals for the season (averaging 11.83) . Only just bettered by fellow defenders Fritschkrieg (12.14 - part of the season in defence), Lewis (12) & Hibb (12) with many seasons experience and premierships under their belt (Louis). If he has a weakness it is his turnover count ranked 7th (lower is worse) but he still has Salem (6th) and Hibb (2nd) ahead of him, again with seasons more experience behind them. The weighted score above accounts for and punishes turnovers. A rare jewel in a horrible season. Early days, but Marty is going to be a star if this season is anything to go by IMV.
  6. Count me in Beetle. Amazing what can happen when all 22 have a decent crack week after week and never throw the towel in. Big difference though....they have players who can run and spread on the burst. They have an extremely hard work ethic especially with players constantly looking to hit up on the lead. They have marking forwards. Their conversion is first class. And they have the Bont!
  7. Sounds like a cracking game. Thx to KC, Dazzle and anyone else brave enough to venture down ....you all deserve a medal and a free hot spa session down at Rye afterwards...courtesy of the Club
  8. Match of the year but i haven't seen everything. GF worthy
  9. Dusty unbelievable in this
  10. What a match... both teams intent and intensity ...Tigers are jncredible. Hope our blokes are watching / learning something
  11. Friday night's pathetic display from most, no spirit - no fight - no skills - no care factor against a bog ordinary out of form bunch of mostly bog ordinary footballers where we got trounced - zero improvement for the entire season (got worse as the season went on), was the final straw for me.... Switching off auto renewal of 3 memberships and might renew depending on what 'Actions' are taken in the off season and see how we start off in the first 5 to 6 rounds next year before deciding. If we are still gifting games to the likes of Spargo, ANB and O-Mac i wont be renewing again until Goody's tenure is over. If we are still playing a putrid crash bash "numbers getting sucked into the contest - pathetic structure on the outside" game style with no overlap capability, no tempo possesion capability, a terrible skill set and the AFL's reigning turnover kings i wont be renewing again until Goody's tenure is over. New Captain - Has to be Max. There is no one else with the right attitude/voice to take this club forward other than Lewis who is about to pull up stumps. FCS build and create a potent forward line with a genuine KPF and some classy speedy smalls who can take contested marks, gather some crumbs and find the goals on a regular basis. Get some run, class and finish on the outside!! P.S. Goody - Fritschkreig is our only decent forward right now ....leave him there and stop with all the insane experiments that take you 15 rounds before you finally work out they aren't bloody working! Some players are meant to play and star in certain positions forward or back of the square...learn to recognise and accept it and play to their/our strengths wherever possible. Note to the bulk of the playing group, at least those that survive what should be a massive list cull (exceptions Maxy, Clarry, Harmes, Salem, Frostmeister, Fritschkreig, May, Hore, Tracc, Lewis, anyone injured or coming back from a long layoff and the rookies), .... Step up and grow a pair you pea hearts or bugger off to the country leagues or VFL and stay there! END
  12. Player / Team Stats Form Guide (Composite Weighted Averages) To Rnd 22, 2019 vs Season 2018
  13. Haha... the fat controller is nodding in approval DD!
  14. Couldn't disagree more. Ordinary moments like others around him and plenty of room to clean up his disposal and decision making but without Clarry's contested efforts/tackling/2nd efforts to get ball back (even after coughing it up himself) etc we would probably have taken some wood off of GC. The above passage was disappointing but players are going to miss. The problem is he (and others) miss on goal far too often . He really needs to work on his goal kicking, disposal and his ability to escape congestion vs his current penchant to dish off to anyone with a two foot radius!
  15. I still can't understand that we let Howe go. I get he held out for more coin wanted to play mote time forward etc but he was coming on nicely and just maturing. Who cares just find the $. Couldve freed up some cap by delisting the likes of O-Mac & ANB etc. We put so much work in then let him wander down the road to star and sure up the Pies backline. Great X factor mark/intercept player and we have very few now who can muster a contested mark. Crazy club that just doesn't get it in so many ways.
  16. LT he is super slow...almost too slow across ground to cover a HF with reasonable pace. And most quality HFs have it. Does that mean he is also too slow for a wing or to play HF himself like some have suggested this season, including myself? If so where does he play? Trade package / option for someone with speed or no?
  17. SW i agree with the trust side BUT ....as an experienced defender you KNOW and play in a way to ensure you don't let your direct opponent get goal side that easily ..that often! Once in a while you are going to lose them in transition but that vision is damning. Personal pride as a player/defender you say "im going to play my best and in a way that will prevent you scoring easy goals out the back or ANY if i have a say". Where is the pride/passion in this group to be the best they can be? No amount of training/coaching brings that to such an experienced player. At this point it has to come from within. In part this is a list problem in the main. We just don't have the quality depth at this point to say "mate...good try on the weekend but we 're sorry to say those standards (we went through in the video review) are completely unacceptable at any level, let alone AFL. We need you to spend some quality time at Casey and rectify this if you can". You then bring in a decent replacement. I agree with King on this. While he may be just as bad in terms of what he brings right now (or worse!) you have to set standards and make statements that certain performances are not acceptable. Hunt in for Salem! Baker in for Clarry (we love alot of what you do Clayton BUT...pull your head in mate...you aren't an A grade champion yet. You want to get there? You're going to have to change some aspects of how you play the game...including your attitude, starting now!).
  18. Nice Sid! Assuming he is retiring at the end of this year i would be throwing a stack of coin to bring him in as an assistant on an apprenticeship in readiness to take over from Goody IF things don't work out. Lewis as the defensive line coach. Yze as head of match day strategy & opposition. Roughy in as the forward line coach etc. Albeit he would need to give a nod and a wink to whoever we are considering. Bring in some serious cred up top and with it successful culture infiltrating and slowly turning the wayward ship around. Also a very attractive proposition to play under making us a true destination club for those who might prefer to avoid coming, which would be mostly anyone decent from here. Line up a meeting up with Hodge as soon as the Lion's finals stint is over.
  19. So the reality is LH that regardless of how effective or otherwise the mid season internal review was/is we are stuck with our present lot plus whoever Mahoney annoints in the next few months for at least two to three seasons. If we end up in a major state half way through next season, even a replacement coach is likely to have little room for change in the FD other than his own abilities to 'change' mind set, motivate and game style. That would suggest my earlier idea is the better alternative than just sacking Goody mid season if it ever came to that... That is, appoint an experienced quality mentor to sit alongside and guide/advise and IF things haven't improved significantly by mid way through next year the assistant effectively (unofficially) takes over proceedings with Goody as an assistant until his contract expires.
  20. Thank you Norm. May the MFC have some wisdom, forsight and bring some X factor both on and off the field in it's forthcoming off season. Especially in a major way at the trade table. My gosh... what a plodding bunch of plodders we have on the list right now! SPEED CLASS FINISH & OVERHEAD MARKING ABILITY!!!
  21. Same but having too much fun in the media and unfortunately he would now see us as a poison chalice i think. The recovery has to come from the current coaching group or a new assistant from here or bust IMO. Who of any substance would come to this joint now on AFL competitive coin SW unless they're being paid massive overs that we don't have the budget for?
  22. Dermy's take courtesy of SEN. Not sure who he's referring to here as i switched off about 10 min in to the 2nd quarter... “That was a meaningless performance and they have little to no identity as a football team. I cannot think less of them this morning after last night.” Brereton pinpointed an exact moment that highlighted the issues at the Demons. “There was a situation last night where Melbourne had banked up against their own inside 50 ball. So their backmen have pressed up," he said. “The ball got rebounded. The closest Melbourne midfielder to the chase, the ball got to the wing, the closest Melbourne player to chase chased for five metres and peeled off. This is in the first half, there’s still a half to go. “He peeled off the chase and then tapered down the sprint to the interchange bench. He actually disguised that he wasn’t going to chase by taking himself off in a rotation. “When I saw that, I replayed it several times to make sure I didn’t see something incorrectly.”
  23. 10 things! I'm just hoping for ONE. That i don't see this AGAIN...
  24. He might be fine in a limited role predominantly admin Kent as LH has mentioned. Maybe he was handed and bit off more than he could chew, which may not have been all his doing? He wouldn't have created the role himself surely. PJ might need to take some of the responsibility (criticism?) here. Sitting outside the four walls all we can do is speculate and most of it probably way wide of the mark anyway.
  25. Kent not having played at any decent level of footy i cant speak from experience but my imagination and decades of observing the game suggest to me that in today's crowded i50, in the heat of battle with so many speedy players around who can cover 5 - 10 meters super quick, your vision probably looks and goes to the player/s in front who is / are the one/s 'on the move' and who look like they're in a bit of space to receive or can run onto the pill when it's kicked into that space. All happening in split seconds. I doubt he had the luxury of an extra split second or so to decide if it is worth kicking to 'ANB' or not and re-assess. He might not even have recognised him until he was well into the kicking action....all too late.
