The ANB Appreciation Thread
One of the greatest gut runners and scrappers in the game. Must be a nightmare to play on. He got a tip on that shot from the boundary from Melk to aim for the top left goal post i reckon. And that's exactly what he did. What a goal. Was it on goal of the week? Not even a mention probably but should've been given the conditions and circumstances. Haven't seen too many better in the belting rain. Cracker mentioned Jacko running around Langdon which i don't recall. The one i do recall is Gazza from just on or outside 50 meters at Princes Park against the Hawks on about a 45 degree angle. Not quite as far out as Duncan's on the weekend but close. Pii$$ing down rain the whole quarter. Gazza booted that heavy parched leather through for six, half post height, splitting the middle with a beautiful spiral. But the bladder...the bladder....

WELCOME TO THE MELBOURNE FOOTBALL CLUB - LUKE JACKSON
Yes that was my worry when we were going after him vs a genuine mid or say Young but he is proving to be that old style "flip him around anywhere utility" as you say WSW. Albeit with about 5 inches on any of the old school traditional ones. The key with a tall like this is what he does after the ball hits the deck in marking contests and/or ball ups/ins and he's proving to be very adept at this side. Not sure he has the kicking boots to hold down a traditional key forward role but he's certainly a big asset to have when played like this. My initial worries have proved to be completely unfounded and mis-guided. A great pick up. His best game last night and a very mature game also in such a block buster. Impressive in many aspects. The tank to seemingly be able to go for four quarters at this early stage....makes a huge difference and very hard to match up on.

Rnd 6, 2021 MCG - Demons vs Tigers Too many great contributions to mention today. Let's just take a look at the top 3 who are all off the charts. Salem: His highest weighted score since keeping these stats, beating his previous best against the Suns in Rnd 20, 2018 where he topped that round with a massive 6.325. 31 Effective disposals @ 79.5% efficiency! 2 one percenters, 2 clearances, 8 rebounds, 6 inside 50s, 3 tackles, 4 score involvements, 9 intercepts and a goal. 5 turnovers. Clarry: 24 effectives @ 66.70%, 2 one percenters, 4 clearances, 4 rebound 50s, 4 inside 50s, 6 tackles, 10 score involvements, 7 intercepts and only 3 turnovers. Tracc: 20 effectives @ 52.5%, 10 clearances, 3 rebounds, 7 inside 50s, 7 tackles, 11 score involvements and a goal. Turnovers a tad high at 7. Taking no notice of Hibb in 22nd place here. Did the job asked on Dusty and would have no doubt sacrificed much of his usual role to achieve this which has obviously impacted his usual output. Our highest team score so far this season, outstripping 2018's season average and smashing 2019's. Also our highest score from the top 6 ranked players this season. POSTGAME: Rd 06 vs Richmond
Oh forgot to mention the Hibb. Superb job on Dusty forward (again) and JJ very good as well when he was on him early at centre bounces. Dusty never really got off the leash and going. EDIT: In all the excitement i forgot the big fella. What a game big boy!

POSTGAME: Rd 06 vs Richmond
Carn the Demons! What a win for the Jones boy on his 300th and Gus on his 100th. They all played their role, some better than others but that's the way it goes in blockbusters sometimes. Salem was sublime today. Dogga was dogged. Tmac immense in that 2nd quarter in particular. Crowd down the Punt Rd end went nuts after the Kozzie free & melee, free to Clarry, which followed. Hunts run around the wing from HB then all the way through to handball to Nibbler for the free.... electric. Same with Traccs early goal in the last. Only a couple of things that i wouldn't mind seeing addressed if picky. Would like to see a designated sweeper in for front exit surge teams like the Tigers at centre bounces. When we hit a player up 20 odd meters or so from the arc...occasionally if we could hit up another on the arc or just outside so that he has the option of kicking deeper to the hot zone about 20 out instead of so many shallow entries. A little more pressure and ask the question of the opp a few more times. Might also make it harder for the opp to work their way out through another layer. Next stop the Roos at Marvel i assume. Will BB play his first match for us against his old club i wonder? Can't wait.

Can't agree re Clarry... he's been involved in many links and scoring chains. Probably not so great out of the middle though so far.

Hec i forgot to mention Lever. Another solid game so far.

GAMEDAY: Rd 06 vs Richmond
Yes he has. One of the few to keep him pretty quiet when he did but on that particular night he followed him everywhere starting in the centre. Tonight he's picking him up when he goes forward with JJ, Clarry and Tracc starting on him in a tag team effort.

GAMEDAY: Rd 06 vs Richmond
Giving them no space whatsoever and getting on top of much of the stoppage play and one on ones. Gawn, LJ, Gus, Salem, Tmac and Hibb were immense that quarter. We are also beating them on the outside game. They arent precise anywhere on the ground other than looking dangerous coming inside 50 which is to be expected given the quality talls.

Jordan taking Dusty (mostly) in the middle...then Hibb when he drifts forward. Viney playing a bit at HF

There isn't room for both PF. BB should get the call up. Thought Weid was right out of it other than the last quarter and a few cameos in the third. Daw was good but for every good thing he does he seems to blunder something else shortly after.- CASEY: Rd 02 vs Richmond
I didn't mind it actually. You could even hear them bucketing the water out from somewhere at one point. Beats listening to BT prattle on all night- CASEY: Rd 02 vs Richmond
