Sorry forgot about LJ.... straight in for Weid if fit in preference to T-Mac
-
Harmes for ANB Hibb for Jets IF fit T-Mac for Weid provided he only plays from the square with a bit of forward ruck relief for Maxy.
-
I'm not sure what the fuss is about here. Serong's a mid forward. Had Goody played Harmes in his usual role here this season we'd be getting this sort of Serong style output from him and this topic wouldn't be on the table. Sure, Serong's a little goer with a ready made tank / bod ready to go at this level. IF you knew Goody was effectively gonna kill off Harmes career/impact through the middle and up forward this season then in hindsight Serong might have been the better pick. Kozzy's a completely different role player. We wanted X factor from a small forward as we were all complaining we had the ok KFs (in theory in T-Mac & Weid, maybe cameos from Brown/Maxy) but no genuine small crumbers with goal kicking X factor. Like most rookies Kozzy's a WIP and it will ve a few seasons before we really have some idea of where he's at. And who knows what happens to Serong in his 2nd and subsequent seasons once he's marked for better quality match ups. 2nd year blues and all that. Hopefully they both go down as super players. I'm not sure why Oli has started this thread TBH. He was probably the first to jump on Kozzy in the pre-season threads from memory. On that basis i would think he would've been thrilled with the selection.

I'm not sure self flagellation is a good idea during lockdown EO!

A little early to be on the sauce EO

I hope you aren't lumping "Festivus for the rest of us" into that mix Moon. There's still a few faithful followers!

Yes once he plays on they count the ground covered then meters gained from the kick Ox. As with most stats we can access this one is a poor cousin to the ones that are sitting inside the Champion data library. Ideally we would want to see the most efficient meters gained. That's effective meters gained ie; meters gained from running/kicking that doesn't end in a turnover PLUS assisted meters gained ie; as the name suggests how many meters the player you effectively gave the ball to ...gains (the above are excerpts from a pretty good article that covers this from ESPN below)... https://www.espn.com.au/afl/story/_/id/27199381/metres-gained-breaking-afl-most-misunderstood-statistic

He just needs to stay mobile to present the occasional option/keep opponent honest and draw him away from Brown on occasions, make a contest and try and defend when needed as best as possible. Something Weid did pretty much diddly squat of tonight. Even if he manages 75% game time Dazzle. Brown and Gawn should be able to cover the balance of his remaining time between them. He's also not bad at ground level and might help others to score etc. Sometimes its better to play youngsters in short bursts. His confidence will be up and being young he'll have no fear. Weid's had his chances to stand up in three critical games in a row now. Three strikes policy surely or we seriously have out hand on it as a club. Same goes for Melk. Shocking game tonight and added nothing to the team either offensively or defensively and for a senior player loses the one v ones far too often.

Sorry but i reckon a witches hat would do better Dazzle. And LJ aint no witches hat

Rnd 17, 2020 GABBA - GWS vs Demons Very rare for a genuine defender to top these weighted stats tables. Let alone two! Maybe Salem playing a part time role off HB on occasions in 2019 but not sure whether he actually did or not. May's 11th top five finish for the season. What a year he's having. Old Man rolls in at No.2 for an early break out game. Throw in Lever and that's three defenders in the top five. Our defence is the bomb this season. And then there's that forward line. Gadzooks. Spargo about the only good thing. Although Mitch may have played an extra spare dropping back at times, and at least one ruck contest for a hit out! Definitely his best game at the MFC so far IMV. Pickett also showing something more of what were hoping we were in for with a top 5 finish. Just needs to hit the scoreboard a few more times with the chances he's getting to put the icing on the cake. I suspect he is a pre-season or two away from this, needing to build a hardened bod to get the extra distance and steady over that step or two around corners etc. Top five for meters gained.... 1. May with 467 2. Ed 462 3. Salem 369 4. Baker 334 5. Pickett 319 Happy to get the win but not getting too excited in terms of improvement statistically anyway. Team score being approx 3% below the 2019 season average and 14% down on 2018. Ruthlessness = The Flame! Keep wearing that fellas. Putting the "Demon" back into Melbourne!
-
Gotta be happy with that!
-
OMG old man for the goal!
-
Weids may well cost us this match he's been that bad. Effectively a man down and a key one up forward and high up the ground when needed also. I would trade at years end
-
Is Jack cooked? He's been bog ordinary. His only saving grace might be kicking the winning goal
-
Who told Max that was the hot zone??
-
Spargo's gone ok tonight playing Weid's role ??
-
Even the taters are asking what we need to do to get Weid into the match. He's having one of his many too many mares
-
Fritta CLEARLY held off the ball there. These umps REFUSE to pay us a free inside 50
-
I would trade pretty much the entire forward line bar kozzy lol
-
Himmelberg does what Weid should do. Leads right up for the big mark in the middle and the easy goal out the back. Williams giving Salem a bath on transition.
-
ANB crikey

Would swap Weid with May. I just can't see us kicking a winning score with Weid at FF. We'll most likely lose anyways. Time to flip them around and just have Weid defend as best he can across CHB. Lever to FB. Hide Smith on a flank. Lets take it up to them by playing May across CHF and clunk a few marks or bring the ball to ground for Kozzy and Spargs. We simply must trade Fritta & Melk at years end. Both go missing for far too long and far too often in matches. Where's Lockhart gone. He has to be carrying something surely. Just can't see how Nev gets a game ahead otherwise.
-
We had our moments but the umps got very involved that quarter P2J. Spargo gets that very obvious high tackle in front we were up by 25 or so for a game high lead. It then goes down the other end and who gets a high tackle inside 50 lol. Then de Boers staging. Free kick to Lever not paid results in a goal. GWS's first two goals from free kicks also.
