CHANGES: Rd 12 vs Sydney
And goal smarts / poise OD. VERY confident around the sticks. Sometimes the step up is a little too much though but i recall his game against the Hawks a while back and thought he was serviceable. He's no world beater but if it came down to having to pick one of the two i'd be giving Mitch a block of matches from here to see what he can do well before finals. Need to explore all avenues as so far our forward line (in totem...some individual cameos on occasions but pretty random) hasn't been able to get out of 2nd gear.

CHANGES: Rd 12 vs Sydney
Probs one more credit opportunity for BB. Mitch is a decent alternative right now and playing some nice footy at Casey for sure. We need more marking power and/or getting ball to ground up forward by a tall to help out Macca as well as the medium/ small crumbers. Rotating Maxy & Dogga from CHF through the middle is fine. Unfortunately one has been a little off his best and the other....a fair way. Need at least one to step it up this week.

CHANGES: Rd 12 vs Sydney
Interesting W As much as i like where Bedford is heading I can't see them giving the nod to Bedford ahead of BB. Stranger things have happened though and he did perform in the first half. Can't see Mitch as Sub ahead of BB either. No BB and should we continue to see an out of form Dogga on the park we'll effectively be very undersized up forward. Possibly the only other alternative is ANB out for Bedford? Cant see Goody making that tweak either at this point. You need at least one or two of your medium to tall forwards to fire. Fritsch about it on the weekend. Not even the drifters, Maxy & Dogga, managed to bother the scoreboard. Whereas Lobb owned us and kept them in it in that second quarter. Looked BOG given the impact and influence he had throughout the game. Big part of the reason we were so badly out marked also. Thank goodness for Plugga Mac's form, may it continue. We better hope another tall gets into gear this weekend as you can't solely rely on him every week. Spargo back to playing more 50 arc time should help (in theory). Him & Kozzie front & square more often along with nibbler / Viney / Harmes on occasions and we might start to see a functioning forward line that provides a decent return on all the entries we usually have. Mids lowering vision and hitting up some targets would be nice. Hunt's spot is looking shakey with Hibb & Salem returning and would expect Hibb or Salem to make a return against the old enemy if they get through the warm ups. Might even be both (Rivers?). Reckon we might struggle again this week with a bit of an unsettled line up (eg no Maysie, potentially one or two under the weather) and the continuing dysfunctional forward line but also there's the rebound factor. Boys will be out for redemption. Fingers crossed the buddy clause doesn't succeed. Hoping we can get over the line or better!

POSTGAME: Rd 11 vs Fremantle
Just watched the highlights up to half time. Then the entire third quarter. Wow.... did we hand them the match. Don't get me wrong the Dockers brought some solid heat and pressured the carrier well. Finished work up forward etc. But between some of the dodgy ump decisions (in particular the first one against Lever to Tabenar) and our poor decision making plus clangers. No wonder we got our [censored] handed to us in that second half. I'm sure Goody & Co. will be into this but i sure hope they drill down into that third quarter in particular. Wouldnt want some of those habbits to catch or we'll be seeing consecutive losses in the coming weeks before the buy. Fix that [censored] up š Oh...and Tracc playing through a sicko!?? Get thee home boy, take a bex and a good lie down! Carn the Mighty Demons!! P.S. no team can cover FIVE players down for an entire match! Other than against the two lowest teams ...maybe.

How so Mr Old? Insider info!?

Farewell Luke Jackson
For sure.... and Harmes back in will add the depth extra grunt factor plus a mid who pushes forward a fair bit.

Simon Goodwin on SEN (30/5/22)

If anyone managed to catch "The Monday Means Test" on Whately / SEN this morning .... According to David King, in 2021 we were ranked No.1 without the ball (by a fair margin vs the rest of the comp). I assume this means pressure acts, maybe tackling? and/or ability to get the ball back (forcing turnovers). Also No.1 at retention of the ball inside our own 50 (record margins vs rest of comp) The last 5 weeks he said we were ranked 11th without the ball. Freo 1st Not sure about the retention inside 50 Will have to knuckle down in the 2nd half of the season if we are to get our 2021 mojo back in this area it seems.

Can't wait to see JVR, Moniz, Mitch Brown, Turner, Rosman, maybe Salem (and the rest) at the Colosseum in front of a home crowd!

Sydney Appealing Buddy Ban
Probably the only option and one suggested to them from somewhere (cough*). In all seriousness how did they arrive at that as the point of difference!!?? Astounding.

CHANGES: Rd 12 vs Sydney
He had one decent game against the Bombers. I don't like to write any player off but if we have alternative options i would be using them before Weid. That includes Mitch Brown (ahead of Weid every day for this season for mine). Re BBB ...at least one more credit š

CHANGES: Rd 12 vs Sydney
I agree. Seeing your two KDs well on their men (at a glance), i would think either wait for the spill out the back or side. Alternatively look to come over the top and punch it away but in that situation someone needs to stay down and play the rover role IMV.

CHANGES: Rd 12 vs Sydney
Would bring Plugga (for Petty) & Mitch (for Weid) in if Petty doesnt get up this week.

CASEY: Rd 10 vs FrankstonĀ
Yeh i agree BBP. More thinking if a "managed" situation arises between now and finals. I reckon we should have managed a few over the Eagles/Norf buys. Not saying Fritta either ... just saying. Think we saw the result of not taking this line (partially... was also alot to do with key personnel out & a little with Trac being crook) in the Freo 2nd half.

CASEY: Rd 10 vs FrankstonĀ
Out if the three (Ros, Laurie & Moniz), i would take 12 to 15 posessions from Moniz any day of the week vs say 20 to 25 from the other two. His disposal by foot is at another level. Yes i know, they're all playing completely diff roles/positions but Moniz (very early days and not getting too excited but hopeful) appears to offer the exciting opportunity of finishing off some good work up the field more often than not and, most importantly, finding targets coming inside 50 with the final money kick. Imagine him (developed) and Spargo feeding the ball to BBB, Fritsch, Macca & others (Kozzie) on the lead. Probably a season or two away but it's a tasty thought if he makes it. Will he? I have a sneaking suspicion we'll be seeing him making a very nice entre' sometime during season 2023.

CASEY: Rd 10 vs FrankstonĀ
Agree with the bulk of this except the comparison of Mitch to Weid is slightly off IMV in terms of the opportunites that Mitch has had to prove where he is at at AFL level. He just hasn't had the same opportunities at the MFC. Would love to see him given a block of at least 3 to 4 matches to see if he can settle in alongside BBB and/or Plugga Mac. Probably aint gonna happen though. And yes ppl will say "no way we are playing 3 talls, who comes out for Mitch if Plugga and BBB are both playing?" Well sometimes you just have to roll the die and try a different make up up forward. Maybe Fritsch misses a week or BBB if he fails to fire a shot again this week. Lucifer knows our forward set up barring occasional cameos from Fritsch & Plugga is generally struggling this season. Can't be sure but our forward conversion vs inside 50s ratio this season to last must be significantly off. If we continue like this it's bound to come back and bite us at some point. Either the current group has to shift into a gear greater than 2nd or we start trialling other options well before finals appear so we can comtinue with whatever version is working and able to get us into 3rd gear, hopefully higher!

CHANGES: Rd 12 vs Sydney
Bluey have you been watching much of the Casey games of late? Tomo yes but Rosman & Laurie are a fair way off (if they get there and im not saying they wont at some stage.... certainly won't be this week though). Baker is about a 10 to 1 shot for a guernsey me thinks but hey, you never know! Not many other options for a Lingers fill in if he doesn't get up. I reckon he'll get up š

CHANGES: Rd 12 vs Sydney
T-Mac could go back for Petty if Mitch Brown comes in (if Petty is inj). Daw was crook and a late out today so very much doubt he will be in the mix.

Given that we were tracking above our 2021 H&A team average prior to the Norf game DZ i'm not sure if and/or why the FD would want to try and increase workloads at this time of year. But then again i know little to nothing about these things. I'm not too concerned as to me the last two weeks have seen us lose a few key players plus we've been on top for quite a while. Then the loss of Maysie Maybe took the foot of the pedal a little barr a few. Possibly one or more a little off with illness? What concerned me about the Freo match was (and i can only go on what i've seen in highlights / radio broadcast) is that we appeared to have gotten smashed in center clearances and even loose contested ground ball. Freo also appeared to control the game for far too long with their slow play chip mark / switch game. Did they take advantage of a far too slack / loose zone after half time? Then there's our disconnect / poor conversion (vs inside 50) ratio up forward. Are we bringing enough heat inside our own 50 defensively? At the end of the day we are certainly in good hands down there and i'm sure they'll drill down in the review this week searching for some whys re Saturday's poor second half. I would like to think it's just a personnel issue and all will return to normal once some key players return. And we should also give credit to Freo for bringing the heat. However, i think we have been a little too reliant on the stonewall defence this season and the forward side needs some serious fixing. Not that he's the savior but would love to see Mitch Brown in this week if Plugga Mac doesn't get up.

Absolutely, fab leaders & book ends for the young fellas at Casey as well. Although not on the list White & Munro also stand up week after week.
